Marcus McCloud?

Marc McCloud

Who is Marcus McCloud? He is Fox's son! Many people think badly of him just of the thought of fox no longer being included in the games. Please feel free to post your thoughts about the new StarFox leader!

Personally, I don't like how he looks. That's really my only opinion of him lol

Ah, he's not canon, yet, so I won't even bother voicing my opinion.

I wonder what the next Star Fox game will bring. (Besides SF643D)

^ Lol  I didn't think he was that bad.

He's a little bit better than Raikou from Pokemon, but he still looks weird. And sexually confused.

Like Slippy, but vulpine. And blue.

Ah....

You see my reasoning, no?

Actually, if you want my serious opinion:

I don't know. I can't see the future and I don't know how he could be used. I don't like him replacing Fox, though. Fox is too young to be replaced. If he gets old, that's another story, but he's just not useless yet.

Sorry mate, but I don't want Fox to go into retirement. I don't care if he has a son, but I do mind putting Fox out of commission just for his nonexistent offspring. He still has plenty of games left in him.

Ok,I'm awnsering the OP.

MARCUS IS FOX & KRYSTAL'S SON IN COMMAND ZOMG!

It's Command, anything in Command is un confirmed canon.

So technically he doesn't exist.

I can completely agree with you on that.

A terrible looking character that sits atop the pinnacle of terrible things that has happened to the franchise since 2002. Its basically saying "Yeah, we can't save Fox, so here's his creepy looking generic songuy".

I can agree that he looks HORRIBLE.

I háte him. How he looks, who he is... and what he steals!

Marcus is no StarFox leader. Fox is! Krystal would even be a better leader! Not a thief like that Marcus!

Your confusing canon with linear storytelling. Anything officially licensed by Nintendo is canon. If you define canon, it's. "the context of a work of fiction, the term canon denotes the material accepted as "official", in a fictional universe's fan base".

For Example: Star Trek has many alternate universe episodes where they branch off of different conclusions, but that doesnt mean they aren't canon, they are included in the universe of that fiction, making it canon since it was an official creation.

Marcus McCloud is an official character branched off of several endings, since he simply exists in Star Fox Command officially licensed by Nintendo. Even if he isn't in the next chronological video game, Marcus exists in the latest official game. It is more appropriate to say that there is a possible chance Marcus may never appear in the next linear storyline of the Star Fox franchise.

In my opinion I have one reason I like him and one reason I don't really care for him. For the reason I like him is because seeing him basically shows that Fox and Krystal were meant for each other. The reason why I don't care for him is because it stops using the original team. I would rather deal with Slippy than an orange cowboy Slippy.

That is the problem! a lot of people hate Marcus just because he will eventually kick fox out of the game! here's how i think of it: Fox will eventually die (whether it be of natural causes or shot down in a dog fight). If marcus can't continue in the game series, StarFox will die! and i don't like the idea of StarFalco stealing the spotlight :hehe: I just don't want starfox to come to an end (yet! :fox: )

Whoh, man/woman! calm down. If Marcus can't continue the series of the game, who will? Right, nobody. I admit, some of the photos people have put on google and bing look too much like... NARUTO. I don't like that. So, in retrospect, Marcus is much like his dad. It says so in many sorces. So if you hate him, don't you kind of hate fox? Also, Did Fox steal the spotlight from his father, James? So if you hate Marcus, you kinda hate Fox, and you kinda hate james? They are family, who all have been proven to be much like his father --> with a very close resemblence to eachother.

I like the idea of Marcus taking over the group. It keeps the series fresh and lovable. with every new character, opens a new storyline. with Marcus, the story can continue. Without him, I would make a gravestone that says "StarFox: 1993 - 2011" and put in my back yard.

burn him with fire

Again, Think of it as "Starfox endin with fox/not continueing" or "StarFox continueing with Marcus"

If you want my full opinion, look at my previous replies, Thank you! :friends:

 (speachless) I... I... ... ... I have never.... I have never seen a post that hates Marcus so much! um... I understand that you don't like him (of unstated reasons) But games like starfox adventures and Assault (not to forget command) were not terrible, but fun, addictive, entertaining continuations of the StarFox saga! I disagree with you entire post, sorry!

Just a heads-up, Marc, but don't double post... or triple... or quadruple. The edit button is there to stop that, so if you post and decide you need to say something else, edit that post rather than making an entirely new one :)

I'm sensing some obvious bias in your profile. :P

You obviously don't frequent Star Fox message boards that often. :) That being said I know how you feel, only difference is that I'm a die hard Krystal fanboy so I have to put up negative opinions of her but at least there's a lot of positive opinions as well. :P

Adventures was -kind- of fun, but ultimately a rushed out the door hugeass let down because of the Rareware sold to Microsoft deal. Assault was just bad in every conceivable way: controls, graphics, story, level design, so on and sooo forth. Command was about the same, offering even worse story and a clumsy control scheme. None of them are addictive, and fall short of fun, and have the entertainment value of getting hit with a truck. Starfox has gone nothing but downhill since 2002.

I will say one thing, on your point about "stealing the spotlight".

One of the main points of the Star Fox series is playing as Fox McCloud to save the Lylat system from some sort of threat. People have grown fond of Fox, accustomed to him. Marcus is the product of a rather heavily controversial relationship with a heavily controversial character, and he does look fairly weird - the blue fur I don't mind, it's that little hair curl thing he has going that repells me.

For Fox to leave the picture in some form to have Marcus take over, that's just plain stealing the spotlight from Fox, and that's generally an unpopular move unless the character doing it is more popular than the victim in the first place. Marcus is anything but.

The fact is, the Spotlight has ALWAYS been Fox's. He never stole it from James, because we never got to PLAY as James. Command is the first game in the series (that was released, at least) where you have the option (at all) of playing anyone other than Fox in single-player mode. Right from the beginning, it's been Fox, whose Father was murdered by Andross long before the start of the game. James never had a spotlight to steal.

Fox does, and people want him to keep it, not pass it off to a son that only exists in one of nine endings in a game whose canonicity (is that a word?) is highly debatable.
