TheRedFox8
*just doing a copy and paste here* I have an idea. A big idea. It involves Fire Emblem (GBA style). Who's interested? Warning, it is fairly complicated, though I will explain everything to the best of my knowledge. First, it will be a game, mostly a game, with some RP elements mixed in, such as in between- Wait, let me explain deeper. It will be a game. Just like the FE games (GBA for simplicity) where we will come up with a party (starting at about 4-5, then building to 10 or so) to fight baddies on various chapters, like in the games. I will manage this, but I will have to come up with the maps on a grid style, so forgive me if they are horrible. With that out of the way, there will be some RP elements during battle and in between chapters. Party members can speak to each other during battle if they wish, but that takes their turn. They can also discuss after battle and before the next chapter. We will require a Lord character who will have a slight boost in stats, but if he dies, game over (restart the mission, essentially). He acts as party leader and decides what we do next. Here's the catch on that. Either the Lord moves his party members around, or the tactician (Mark from FE 7) will. For those complaining about that, let me lay out a few things first. One, when people join the party, they put their lives in the hands of the tactician/lord to guide their sword to victory... or defeat. (On a side note of "defeat" dead party members stay dead. The player can come up with a new one to join next chapter). Also, this is to prevent everyone from moving at once. Players of the characters are more than welcome to offer advice like "Don't send me there!" but you are unable to move yourself. Again, this prevents from everyone from moving at once. Speaking of making characters, we will be using this: http://www.feplanet.net/sprites-tools-statsheet Each person is responsible for updating their character sheets upon weapon use, leveling up, subtracting hit points, and so forth. I'll delve deeper in that once we decide to launch this. I believe I covered the important points... Oh, yes. If we launch this, it will without a doubt not be able to fit on this forum. Why? Because, the theme is incredibly off and even then it would require a category and several child categories. So we may have to launch our own board for this and maybe become sister boards to here or something. Any questions?
Blaze the Sage
Oh jeez, I have SO many characters I could toss at this - I spent a long time at a forum called the Fire Emblem Arena Battle League (almost always referred to simply as "FEABL") that had its own arena battle system (duh), but also did periodic map battle events and such. Actual Fire Emblem stuff there is down a lot lately, though. But yeah, I'd be all for this if it gets going. I would totally throw a character or three at this (should the need arise for more than one, anyway )
Fluxy
Yeah, I can say I safely agree with Blaze here. I am a HUGE fan of the Fire Emblem series, and have played many of the only Japanese versioned games. I wouldn't mind supporting this at all one bit. I think it would be really interesting, and I am looking forward to seeing how you pull it off.
Vulvokunvrii
Fire Emblem is prett interesting; of course if one of my friends i know was here, he would bombard you with ALOT of ideas ^_^
Robert Monroe
So is this a forum-based FE style SRPG? I've seen those plenty of times. Usually one person makes all the maps using tilesets and writes the story while everyone else makes their own character and controls them as per standard RP rules, with the added change of combat being RNG and stat based. I've played literally every FE (except the Wii one and the FE1 remake). If someone does this, PLEASE give me a call and I will definitely prove invaluable in setting up rules and regulations. I pretty much know the franchise front to back up and down by -heart-.
TheRedFox8
You pretty much hit it on the nail, Monroe, however, like in the series, the characters get controlled by the tactician, not by themselves. This is mainly to prevent everyone moving at once and everything being one big chaotic mess. However, the players are more than welcome to shout advice to him ^^ Most likely, I'll be giving those who know most about the franchise staff positions. I admit I don't know EVERYTHING about the franchise but I have played the two GBA American releases and the GC/Wii releases as well. Also, I am going to be using FEplanet.net for my sources like stat caps and growth rates. I have not played Shadow Dragon, but that's irrelevant, for this is based off the GBA releases. Also, having obviously not done this before, I ask that people be patient while I get things set up and everything figured out. This won't be perfect the first few days (or even week) but it'll get there. Also, reminder, not everyone will get to be in in the very first chapter. We start of with maybe 2-4 people including the Lord and recruit more until we reach 10 or so people. I want to avoid benching people like you do in the games when you have 20+ characters. More explanations will follow upon creation of the project, but I will be delayed on the first day because it is my duty day (military, remember), but I'll try to get as much done as possible. Thanks for your interest, and I hope we can make this work. **EDIT Most likely, FnK and Robert Monroe will be co-founders, as well as anyone else who is intimately familiar with the mechanics. However, at this point I will quiz anyone else trying to be one because having too many admins running around is never a good thing. Now comes the basic question. What should we name it? Robert Monroe
Actually, I've been brainstorming on this all day. (even when taking my math test, derp) I don't wanna sound like I'm hijacking your idea, but if you give me a week or two, I can DEFINITELY come up with some great, concrete ideas that I can PM to Asper to see if it'll be plausible with the RP section as it stands now. I can create the maps, the character sheets, everything, because I have a TON of experience with sprite art with Fire Emblem as well. Again, I don't wanna hijack your idea, but I feel I could really go places with this puppy if I applied myself to it. I could even expand beyond the GBA limitations (certain elements of the other games have a big applications that would make for interesting situations). So yeah, if you give me the ok, I bet I can go the whole 10 yards and beyond.
Xortberg
Damn, this looks sweet. Unfortunately, I've got far too much stuff going on to join, but rest assured I'll be following this with much interest. Also, I don't quite know the extent of Robert's FE expertise, but I know he used to frequent FE boards so he's good in my book In any case, thanks for linking to that character sheet creator. I've been trying to remember where it was for a while.

I've been trying to remember where it was for a while. In -MY- day we had to make statsheets by hand, using MSpaint! >:C The most recent work I've done. It's maybe 2 years old, I forget, my girlfriend did the art. Custom style sheets ftw.
Blaze the Sage
MS paint ftw! I was half-decent myself. Didn't do full-custom stuff though. My sprites My Statsheets. Used FE7/8 templates rather than custom, though.
Xortberg
I once had an interest in making FE ROM hacks, but I lacked even basic spriting knowledge beyond simple recolors, so I could never even make good portraits. My best work ever was the following attempt at making Leon from RE4, and to be quite honest, it sucked I recall making a decent recolor or two, like a younger Dieck without scars, but I can't seem to find them. DoctorAllosaurus
I'm not the biggest Fire Emblem fan (I prefer Warsong and Shining Force over FE), but I like it enough to be interested in this. I'll have to look through my old high school notebooks, I know I wrote up a few characters in one of them.

However, I regret that I will hold off on extra ideas as for now until we get the base, bare minimum down. It's like learning a drum set. You have to start small and then work your way up. However, they will be added in due time, I assure you. I want to start simple, to not scare away anybody if you know what I mean. However, I prefer to stick with the character sheets made by the link I provided because they are the simplest to maintain. Players will update those constantly for HP loss/gain, weapon use, level up and so on. I am going to make the board as we speak and get the basic infrastructure. I'll let you guys know when it is up. Monroe and FnK are going to be my two admins. Also, remember, the optimal final party size will be 10 or so. Like in the games, you can't take too many party members in and I prefer not to bench anyone. The original idea was for people to have two per person, but the way it is going now, we may have to go with one per person!
Robert Monroe
Ah, you'll be making your own board for this, then? In that case I guess I'm free to try my own ideas on SFO then But I will gladly help you with your own work.
TheRedFox8
Cool. Yeah, the project is too big to attach as a child board anywhere, SFO or SFG. Besides, the theme wouldn't fit. Still trying to come up with a name for it.

TheRedFox8
Cool. Well, the URL is posted up. The shop is done, as well as getting a good start on all the available classes.
Fluxy
Yeah, this is looking to be great amounts of fun. Whoever is running one, I don't mind fully helping at all! Fire Emblem is a great passion and favorite game of mine, and just love it so much. The idea of making a game where it kinda crossed paths [in a sense, not literally] with the Star Fox realm and races has always been on my mind. Also, got finished with the prestige classes. TheRedFox8
You did great! I loved the little quote things you put. However, the assassin loses the ability to use lockpicks and they promote from the fell contract. (I know in Sacred Stones, they use the Ocean Seal, but we're running FE 7)
Fluxy
Oh, sorry, lol. I was thinking Sacred Stones for a bit, my bad. XDD But all good now. =] And was about to edit it, but I see that you already got to it! ^^ Thanks, Lol
TheRedFox8
I love how everyone's sigs are turning into stat sheets I will come up with a way to generate characters for use in the game. I was thinking 1d10+3 for STR, SKL, SPD, LCK, DEF, and RES, with a five move and six con for guys and five con for gals.
Fluxy
1d10+3 For each? Or 1d10+3 total, and split them amongst the stats?
