Sabre
We've talked about Horror games before, but what about books, films, ect? Personally, I don't bother with none game horror any more because it has the same issue to me as the games I don't like. Most notably, surreal and thus silly monster designs, and a supernatural element so strong that the writers could just open the floor and eat the characters if they want. The few that aren't surenatural tend to be not scary and have characters so dumb I wish them dead. ...Yet saying that, I am a big fan of the super hero comic Astounding Wolf-Man in which a werewolf man becomes a super hero. However, some people consider this a horror, so while it lacks scares, it's definatly a good read, and of course, because there is no sell by date on 'best' I would have to say Dawn of the Dead (the real one, not the crappy remake) takes the prize of best horror. DoctorAllosaurus
Y'know, I don't do much horror outside of video games. When I do watch horror, its usually the comedy kind, like Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein or Shaun of the Dead or lame B movie stuff like The Killer Shrews or The Giant Gila Monster... But I'm pretty sure those don't exactly count. Its not that I don't like it either, I just don't know whats worth watching. I did read alot of Goosebumps as a kid (I own and have read the first 60 books), which might explain why I like the cheesy B movie stuff so much. Matrilwood
Night of the Lepus gets marks for trying to be different (i.e. trying to make giant rabbits not look like the easter-bunny) 28Days and Day of the Triffids (2nd and 3rd version) because they're good portrayals of what humans will resort to when it's time for them to fight to survive. ---- In terms of books, I've never even come across a horror-novel let alone read one. Well maybe the Goosebumps series, but even then it's not really horror, it's more adventure with a dark twist.

Sadley people just find the worst parts on the internet and mock it as a bad movie these days which is a terrible pity. Most of those films have the paranormal thing I mentioned so aren't for me. Y'know, I don't do much horror outside of video games. I have a knock off called shivers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shivers_%28novel_series%29 the one I have and still remember is The Animal Rebelion/Killers in which all the animals on this farm go crazy and try and kill people. To this day I use it as an example of a book that abuses it's format for a couple of stupid stupid arse pulls. As for ghoosebumps, I remember one with a camera and one from the tv series they did where a sweet old couple has a monster in a spare bedroom upstairs. 28 Days is an overrated film imo. The first act is cool, but the second act is a boring road trip, and the third is a bunch of boring army guys. Also, the unbelievably stupid characters. I watched an ep of the twilight zone recently, (after hours) great tension right up until the stupid stupid reveal. It's so dumb that I watched again and guess what, no tension at all. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_After_Hours
