Metroid or LoZ?

Metroid or Zelda?

  1. 1. Metroid or Zelda?

I need your opinion.....I'm trying to get hooked onto another Nintendo gaming franchise and the most popular ones are Metroid and Zelda....(besides Mario and Star Fox)

So which one do you think is better?

Both are really great series. I prefer Metroid, due to replayability (NBMB and 15% runs, anyone?) and a little bias (I am a MSBer, y'know), but either one'll be good to get hooked on. Zelda may be a little better hollistically due to the fact that, so far, some of the best games on any given Nintendo console are Zelda games hands-down (LoZ, LttP, OoT, and now TP).

Edit: Come to think of it, the same could be said for Metroid games, save the 64 (Metroid, Super, Prime, and hopefully Corruption). Point = moot.

If it doesn't HAVE to be a Nintendo franchise but it can be on a Nintendo SYSTEM, then I say Sonic the Hedgehog. I say that partially because I've never played either of the two choices due to lack of interest in both.

^Beat you to it..... :P I really do like Sonic too but, it seems like, I want to try a new gaming franchise. I just picked between Zelda and Metroid because those are the most popular along with Mario.

Nevermind the first half of my screenname--it's terribly outdated. Honestly, I don't like Metroid that much. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it really can't compete with the classic Zelda series.

If you haven't played any of the Zelda games yet, I don't recommend you play Wind Waker first. It's a rather controversial game... I'm not saying you shouldn't play it, I'm just saying it's probably not the best place to start.

Try to find a used copy of the Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition at your local GameStop, EB Games, etc. That one has the very first NES Zelda, Nintendo's N64 masterpiece Ocarina of Time, as well as a few other games in the series, all on one GameCube disk. The first Zelda I ever played was Ocarina, and I'd say that'd be the best start for any newcomer to the series as well.

I think I'd have to say Metroid, but only because Zelda's been first-person longer, and I suck at first-person games.

Still, the handheld versions of both series are quite excellent games, and well worth the purchases.

I really like both, but I had fun with Zelda. My top five series are:, yes there are ties

1: Zelda / Final Fantasy

2: Metriod Prime / Sonic / Star Fox

I say both because Zelda is very similar to Star Fox Adventures but missing some of the emotion and the cool combos but with a longer story and much, much more items. Metroid is a good FPS for Gamecube and is newer than Zelda at the moment but you need a lot of time to play them. Metroid is a lot closer to Star Fox and is quite similar. I recommend both, but first, definitely Zelda

They're both excellent series. I say people should play both. Besides, they're pretty different, so it's pretty hard to compare both on an equal level....

Hmmmmm....desicions, descions.....

It looks like, I will try them both out. But, I'm still trying to see which one to try first.....?

I'd say Zelda, don't get the side-scroller metriods first. They're fun but Zelda's better. The Prime series is great too, but if you have never played Zelda. BUY IT NOW and start

Well, I actually thought the best Zelda game was Wind Waker. It had such a storyline and was sooo cool!!! Yeah, the sailing aspect sucked but it had such a storyline and a couple of new, cool items thrown in with the same old classic loveable battle system.

That's debatable. Link to the Past is pretty damn awesome as well.

Hey, that's the one I'm playing right now! For Zelda. And I'm gonna play the one EVERYONE'S been talking about (Oot) after I finish a Link to the Past. Super Metroid, is getting good too! You know, I feel pretty stupid passing up these games looking back. Oh well, On to Norfair! :repost:

Seriously, though, after you finish Super Metroid, I say you should...play it again! 15% and NBMB runs, here you come!
