Dr. Pepper was invented in Waco, TX, and the small company evolved eventually into Dr. Pepper/7-Up after insolvency and a failed merger with Coca-Cola (FTC said no). Back in the early 2000s, I think, Dr. Pepper/7-up was acquired by a British company, Cadbury Schweppes. A couple of years ago, Cadbury Schweppes spun it off into the current Dr.Pepper/Snapple.
