Scourge
Am I the only person who's ever thought about this? Think about it though, if we know Fox like... 5'7 in sf64, and somebody was enough of a math junkie, they could compare him, to an arwing, an arwing to greatfox, and get a size from that, that could then be used in minecrafts size comparision because apparently 1 block is 1 square meter... Am I the only one who ever thought that out? o_O

sniper
did a little calculating and the great fox is approximately 800 feet tall (from it's lowest point to it's highest) and 1850 feet long which means that it's 244 blocks tall and 564 blocks long
Scourge
That quick was... Impressive to say the least, and sheesh, if I plan on doing one i have a long road ahead of me XD Thanks for the info Me and a couple buddies were contemplating doing one but they're not much of starfox fanatics, theyre just adamant about the series... I just happen to be the un-elected leader so they obey XD
Scourge
Oh yeah, and one of my buddies was wanting to do a redstone curcuit that plays the Starfox themesong from note boxes... No idea on how he plans to do that though, I just build stuff, I'm not a big fan of redstone so I don't have much else on the matter XD

Scourge
Wait... Snipe is that taking into account the fact that 4 arwings can line up wing to wing in the launch bay? ._.
sniper
Did a miscalculation cause I accidentally used the arwing with wings in all range mode instead of wings down. Here's the new calculation: so 301.5' Tall and 752.5' Long or 92 blocks tall and 230 blocks long

Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted February 25, 2011 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted February 25, 2011 That would be a big undertaking for Minecraft.. Would you do it on SMP or CMP? I think it would be easier to use CMP, you have use of unlimited blocks and you can fly if you use the WoM Client.
ThePointingMan
Theres a limit to how many blocks high you can go... Pretty sure it's less then 244 blocks, but that doesn't mean you can't scale it down.

Grr curse you for being right... mur alright we might have to do a half of the scale X/
Scourge
Another thing we might do instead of scaling it down is to just not include the top fin... as much as i hate to do it, sounds like the only way a 1-1 scale is happening X/ I'm curious however to know how the guys that made the enterprise did that freaking big of a world, i might have to look into that. (Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong, as I have very little knowledge of Minecraft). Im pretty sure you can expand it down more by digging a enormous hole, similar to what we see here Id love to know how they did it, if i can figure that out, itll just be a matter of getting a server and getting started Ive actually been in the final product of this, it isnt small by any strech. If it can make minecraft lag on my computer, its big, trust me.

Sabre
Id love to know how they did it, if i can figure that out, itll just be a matter of getting a server and getting started The truth is quite sad really. They use CAD programs and import directly from those. A perfect example is the Enterprise you show. The ship was made in a CAD program and imported, then in game it had to be hollowed out and in interiors built.
sjrathbun812
Minecraft is a fun game. It's like LDD only better. Making a Great Fox in it sounds like a great idea. Good luck!

Starting by making the frame work, then the shell, then details, and i might let different people do the characters rooms, not sure on that. And considering by the scale that this is sounding like its going to be, there might be some spare rooms so... dunno, that might get made into storage rooms or something *shrug*

Sabre
It's likely either a server mod like runecraft, or part of the save file that is created by the cad program.
