DoctorAllosaurus
I'm just curious to see which one you guys like more. I myself prefer the Dragon Quest games, they have a certain charm to them that I really can't put into words. Also the enemy designs are kind of cute, I always feel bad when I have to kill Slimes. Xortberg
I vote FF, but mostly because I've played several games in the series that I enjoyed and I've only played one DQ game at all. It was fun, but since it's all I have to go by, it's not quite as fun as some of the earlier FF games, specifically FFIV and V.
Fluxy
Oh, I could rant this topic soooooo hard. Lol. I have had countless debates with my friend who is a huge DQ lover. My vote is Final Fantasy for countless reasons. Story, the characters, the heart warming, and saddening moments, and even game play. ...Final Fantasy VI FTW!!!! DoctorAllosaurus
I've still got catching up to do with Final Fantasy, so far I've only finished I, II, and IV. Ones I've played but haven't finished yet include III, Mystic Quest, VII, and Tactics (I have played Adventure and Legends I and II, but I don't count those as they aren't really FF games). I will say if I had to pick between FF1 and DQ1, I'd have to go with FF, it has better replay value and I like the solo runs (I've already succesfully solo'd with the Black Belt, and I have a lone Black Mage sitting in the poisonous cave). Dublinthefox
Wow this is a tough one. There are a few Dragon Quest games I like such as 8 & 9. But I am more into the Final Fantasy series.
El Zorro de la Estrella
I'm gonna have to go with Dragon Quest on this one. My reasons are like the same as DoctorAllosaurus', it just has a certain charm about it and is really in-depth. Also: How can you not love the fact that Akira Toriyama (of DB/Z fame) did all the art?! To me, FF games are getting to the point of being too long and lacking. Like, the originals on like NES/SNES were BEAST, but the newer ones are too similar to one another and spend too long in cutscenes. Like, the newest FF games seem, to me, to just be completley about showing off the designers' graphic design skills and not so much about crafting an epic tale. (Most recent FF I've played= XII)
DoctorAllosaurus
I'm slowly working my way through the first six games of the two series, once I'm done I'll make a list showing which ones I liked more.
Sabre
Where's the "they are both JRPGs and thus terrible" button? There is a Dragon Quest game where the enemy is a shape shifting jester I'm told. As such it 'wins' over Final Fantasy which I can't stand. I wont vote though.
Nova
Where's the "they are both JRPGs and thus terrible" button? /agree But... FF XIII was pretty awesome...
