PS3 banned in Europe

Well, it seems I've offended a few people. At no given point in time did I ever say that Nintendo was doing anything noteworthy in terms of online features, yet my comment is being viewed as such. Or am I sencing a little bit of fanboy-ism coming from someone else? I simply stated that I HATE...I repeat...HATE Sony and left it at that while celebrating like a fool. You both went along and started focusing on those "why nintendo sucks" arguements (like most others). FYI, I did mention I fully support Microsoft as well. I could very easily go into specifics about both Sony and Microsoft in terms of the overabundance of a certain game genre. (Can you guess which one?) It seems that you are upset simply because I expressed my resentment of Sony.

I'll admit I did sort of start a bit of a fight, but seeing this begin the same way as all video game console arguements go, I don't want to bother with it. Same old, same old...and they just get boring. Anyone want to discuss possible business scenarios?

What? You said you hated Sony, I came in and said they aren't to bad and how in many ways nintendo is worse atm, now someone is offended? I assume a post has been deleted somewhere but that feature has been removed. Is it to soon to claim chewbakka defence?

As for the overabundence of a certain genre, I assume you FPS or Third Person Action games? Those are abundent because they are pretty high quality at the moment. As I said before, the Wii currently has an abundence of crap party games. Funny enough, the best party game is on Xbox at the moment. It's called you don't know jack.

(If I cant believe it's not butter brought out the 5 stanges of grief range, what would be the next one? Im angry that it's not butter or Ive come to terms with it not being butter?) I just can't work out how you can be a wii and xbox fan and hate PS3 as passonately as you do.

Sabre, drop it with the name calling.

What? Acctually, don't answer that. It doesn't matter, much like you.

I believe it was caused by Sony putting a patent infringement lawsuit on LG, and LG doing the same in return. Preliminary rulings have banned import of PS3s into Europe currently, but I don't believe the action is final. Sony does have several consoles on reserve in the country anyway; they would still be able to sell for a couple months.

I don't think shops can sell them though. Sony might have warehouses full, but I'm not sure they are allowed to ship them. Back in the N64 days when acclaim lost the licence to WWF, once the shops had sold their current stock, that was it.

Ahh, gotcha, that sucks pretty hard, especially for those looking for a PS3 when stock is gone. Hopefully this fiasco will be resolved soon :)

You know, I had a long winded reply out to you Sabre but I realized that actions speak longer than words. Your future posts are now modded on an interim basis. Don't ever talk back to me like that again.

Serious balls or a massive sense of stupid? You talked back sabre. Deal with the.consequences.

More specifically you talked back by saying what user says is meaningless.

In short, quit being a dick.

Holy crap.

That's a pretty risky move.

Good luck to you.

I sense a disturbance in the Force.

Back on topic, I see this PS3 matter a temporary setback.

Either Playstation will work with LG in terms of their Blu Ray player or Playstation will develop their own Blu Ray player.

I would highly doubt that this would spell the end of the Playstation branch of Sony.

Nothing to see here. There will be a last-minute settlement where Sony and LG will exchange money and/or patent licenses. This is just LG trying to tell Sony to GTFO with their cellphone patent suits against LG. If you read the article, you'll notice that Sony stand-alone Blu-Ray players are being seized, too. This isn't about the PS3, it is about patent tit-for-tat. This is called Patent Mutually Assured Destruction (PatMAD). It's a patent lawsuit strategy that says if you sue me for patent infringement, I will find the biggest infringement you have on one of my patents. If I go down, I'm taking you with me.

LG doesn't want Blu-Ray to fail, trust me. LG invested tons of money into the Blu-Ray consortium, and there is no way they are going to destroy it. Especially since Blu-Ray is rapidly growing.
