Sabre
I am one of many who is making there own game here. Let's talk about AI. I am reading about Finate State Machines on the internet, a simple way for AIs to do things. If injured- find cover, If player spotted- attack. If player in cover- throw grenade. If hungry- eat burger and so on. While I don't expect Crysis 2/Half Life 2/Halo level AI, I am told that mordern AIs use a varitiy of systems. Whating to know what these systems might be called, how they work or any worthwhile reading material on the subject is met with shrugging shoulders and eyerolls. If anyone has any information, I'd be happy to have it. :)
Wes
I doubt you'll be able to find a modern game that offers AI source code, you can try looking on id software's website, you can download code from some of their games.
Nope.
I doubt you'll be able to find a modern game that offers AI source code, you can try looking on id software's website, you can download code from some of their games. Quake IV has 80% of his scripts in the gamecode. Good thing if you just want to download it ( the gamecode I mean ) to look at how the AI works because you don't need the original game, it's just a ton of strings in c++/similar language, but it's painful if you're into Quake IV modding ( first person experience ). In Doom 3 the artificial intelligence works throught the .script files inside one of the pk4 files, so you need the game for that, but it's waaaay more simple.
