Wes
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42023385/ns/world_news-asiapacific/ An 8.9 earthquake hit Japan earlier, there are 137 confirmed dead, and 500+ missing, and there is damage to a nuclear power plant that resulted in people being evacuated. Looking through the photos on MSNBC, some of the most devastating things I've ever seen. I really feel for those people over there. It's going to leave a mark for a long time. Star Fox Runner
Oh my god....... that's terrible. That flooding footage reminded me of the "Flood of '93" here in Missouri. But I bet it was much worse. It's strange how nature works.

"User"
I was JUST about post a topic regarding this. I heard about it an hour after it happened while driving to work. http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/11/japan.quake/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1 Terrible, just terrible. The most powerful earthquake to hit Japan kills hundreds of people, causes hundreds to go missing and destroys 1,800 homes. I'm quite certain the death toll will continue to rise though. yeah, tell me about it, I just got yanked off my flight to Narita airport in Tokyo >.> "Some 13,000 people were stranded at the Narita airport, and 10,000 were stuck at the Haneda airport, the news agency said." I'm so glad you're safe though as it must be chaos down there. :(

Fang O'Donnell
you want to know what's sad? While I was saying how horrible the quake was for Japan, almost everyone here in California was worried about a POSSIBLE tsunami warning telling us that we may see 3-5ft waves. I was like, "What about the people in Japan does anyone even care?" and then my friend says "no, we're worried about what MAY happen to San Francisco." I just went back to bed. Rogue Fox
Apparantly there is also the danger of a nuclear reactor going critical as damage from the earthquake/tsunami has disrupted the cooling system.

MindyMcCloud
I feel so selfish. I live in Illinois, while people in Japan are suffering. I am so guilty right now. And scared for the people of Japan.

Wes
Apparently it's the worst earthquake in Japan's history. You never expect things like this to happen. I really feel bad for those people. I feel bad there's nothing I can do to help.

Fira-Astrali
yeah, we were all pretty shocked. We were in an information vacum until we got home because of how much flying we had to do. I had no idea the extent of the destruction.
Shinigami
Heard about this as well when I got up yesterday morning. Terrible tragedy; honestly..my thoughts are with those that lost people they cared about in this disaster. As for the 500+ missing; hope most make it out of this event alive and are reunited. Asper Sarnoff
Mmm. And you can all bet I was in for a hefty heart attack as soon as I lumped down in front of the telly after a long day of work. Death and disaster as far as the eye could see, and Fira was heading right for it. While I'm relieved she's safe and sound, and not taking it too hard, I'm feeling for those who weren't so lucky. Who had their homes, belongings and even lifes swept away. Last I heard, there have been 1500 confirmed casualities, and the number is steadily rising. Shinigami
Unfortunately, there are. in more recent events a wave of dead bodies have washed up on the shores so now the death toll has offcially climbed into the thousands. also, they've had explosions at a couple of their nuclear plants. Things just seem to be getting worse for Japan and well, I sure as hell really hope the people will come out of this hard time okay. The current death count is at 2800+; and is expected to rise up to 10,000. I hope it's not the case..
