Sabre
Allow me to break popular opinion and say maybe. Why? The answer is in the Twilight Zone. See, the Twilight Zone is probley one of the best TV shows of all time. It's best episodes are masterpieces that are part of pop culture despite most people my age not knowing the show. People think it sounds awesome, but turn away as soon as they see it's black and white. Let's be honest. Would you watch the Twilight Zone, and I mean sit down and watch it as opposed to reading a synopsis on wikipedia or fastforwarding to the twist ending? To be honest, I don't really like starfox snes. The control is fairly bad and the framerate is to low for the action. If I had to show the Snes to a modern gamer, I'd start with Mario World and Chaos Engine. (for the megadrive, Flashback and Streets of Rage 2) Why? Because starfox has aged, and aged poorly. As has Goldeneye. It's a classic, but without the history or the good "for its time" excuse it really doesn't hold up. I love Perfect Dark, but that game is for crazy people. What I'm saying is a timeless classic is not effected to much by time. Chaos Engine is still a good, deep and fun game, even by todays standards. You could bring that game out on XBLA or Steam and it would be a hit. If starfox came out as a new game on XBLA today, as is with no history, it would be slammed. For what it's worth the N64 game is a classic, and is definatly the one to go for. If he likes them, he will want to see what the originals were like, but pressing him to play the old games will just confirm his belief I think. tl;dr? When you first show someone a horror game, do you show them RE1? No. You show them something new like condemned. What was your first sci fi film, starwars or THEM!? Fang O'Donnell
Sabre I do agree with you, but when my friend claims to be a hardcore SF fan because he boasts high scores for SF64 and can write the jibberish known as Saurian, yet hasn't even attempted to play SF1 or 2. I just don't see how you can label yourself as "Hardcore" when you haven't played the original. do you agree with that Sabre?
Deploy
I like this pic I made, it does well to say the truth The controls in Star Fox SNES feel fine to me, and for a 3D SNES game, the frame rate seemed pretty solid. Also, I'll admit that once in a while the ploygons can be confusing, but, reeally, it's not THAT hard to figure out.

ICantLose74
SNES is rubbish? "Thats blasphemy thats madness!" (insert Sparta quote here) the StarFox game for the Super Nintendo is one of my most fond memories. Saying that it is rubbish is like saying all StarFox games are rubbish, I mean it's just not right. I would use Fallout as an example, but I tried the early ones, even though I hated them. I wouldn't say you need to play them, for example, try finding system shock 1 and 2 and then getting them to work, but if the option is there I don't see why they haven't tried yet. I guess I would point out that other SF games aren't exactly lookers either.
ARWINGCOMMANDER 3987
Yes, because graphics and sounds aren't what make games fun.

Fang O'Donnell
I guess I would point out that other SF games aren't exactly lookers either. That's true too, the SF series has pretty much tanked since adventures and some people say the new games aren't even worth the trouble, that is exactly why I think the SNES & N64 SF games were at least worth a play through. SF64 was probably the greatest Star Fox title and maybe one of the N64s top 20 games, and I'm not saying that it isn't my favorite (because it is). I do understand that you didn't like the SNES games as much as others, but at least you tried them and came up with an oppinion of why you don't prefer them. My friend just won't play the games because of reasons he can't even back up because he hasn't played the games. I guess what I'm saying is you've played them, so you have a right to a valid oppinion. He hasn't and there-for has no idea what he's talking about. MindyMcCloud
The StarFox Fanbase ( The whole thing, all together ) Is like a house. This house has ..... lots of residents. If one hasn't atleast heard of the early SF games, I will personally walk up to them, and kick their ass out of the house. ( I sound to rough... Lemme revise. ) It's good to at least know that those games exsisted. If not, then whom ever isn't worthy. It would be ten times better if they have played both, like me and most on this forum. Or fanbase.
El Zorro de la Estrella
If one calls themselves a hardcore SF gamer, then it's a prerequisite to play the originals. Also: How can anyone hate on the SNES?! Greatest. System. Ever. *Goes off to play some Chrono Trigger and Earthbound
