FIREFOX 4 IS NOW AVAILIBLE

So, how many of you have it already? I love it, the interface is much shinier, and it's just very streamlined. I also figured out that it has full WebGL support. It's just incredible.

What are your thoughts on the upgrade?

I'm compiling it on my Gentoo installation, 3 hours in so far.

I already had it, yay beta.

Anyways, I'm ok with it, the only thing I don't like is the back/forward buttons. The round back button looks squished, and they'd both look a bit better if they were the classic shiny blue/red and green.

I have forward and back buttons on my mouse, so I didn't notice that before.

So they moved the tabs, moved the refresh button, and switched "Open Link in New Tab" and "Open Link in New Window" buttons around. Just to confuse everyone.

You can right click on the tab bar and tell it to move them up again. ^^

I got it a day early…meh. Just Firefox. Slow, worthless except for certain sites that don't support Opera. (garrysmod.org, Google Earth, etc)

And I mean SLOW. It's so sluggish and messy. But anyway. ^^

Why don't people like IE?

I run IE on my own comp, Safari on my IPod, and FireFox on the school comps.

Honestly, outside of UI's I really don't see the difference, and IE seems to work with more sites...

Just, like, add-ons with FireFox (Which I do wanna check out sometime!)

It's utter crap compared to previous versions. Yeah, some of the shiny new features are nice, but I've had to spend over an hour getting the UI disaster they created fixed, including having to add extensions to get things back (BLOAT), and I had to disable this so-called "awesome" hardware acceleration that swells all of the text to the point where it reminds me of boomers in L4D2. So what if graphics and videos look better, Unreadable text is a deal-breaker, as the internet, in the end, is still largely about text content. Blogs. Forums. Articles. Tweets. Facebook.

Mozilla really screwed the pooch here. And this is AFTER a fucking delay. I guess IE9 made them shit their pants, and they pushed out a product that wasn't ready. The UI just annoys people who have been using Firefox for ages, and the great new features only work on some machines. Even IE7 wasn't this big of a disaster.

Many of the UI changes have been explained on Mozillazine in the Microsoft-esque fashion of "we feel we know what the browser experience should be better than the end user." That attitude is one of the things I absolutely despise about both Apple and Microsoft. Fuck you, Mozilla, for doing it, too.

Someone needs to fork Firefox 3 Haste Pronto.

But firefox is open source, if they cock it up, people will switch it back. I've not seen the new layout, so unless it's chrome level of useless I will give them the benifit of the doubt. After all, I remember people whining about the layout of vista, now people love it over XP once you know where everything is.
