It's still "partially" Linux nonetheless, giving further credence to his opinion that real gamers shouldn't have anything to do with Linux. In short, your interjection served no merit. (other than educating people that don't give a crap about Linux anyways)
Wes
It's still "partially" Linux nonetheless Fair enough, so from now on we're going to refer to Windows 7 as "Windows NT 6.1" because NT is part of Windows 7 and we're also going to call Mac OS X "XNU". giving further credence to his opinion that real gamers shouldn't have anything to do with Linux. What are "real gamers"? Most gamers don't care about what operating system the computer they're using runs. Unless of course they're basement dwellers. Also, Nova's post had 0% to do with my previous post. I was giving DZComposer a very good suggestion on an alternate browser. Since GNU Icecat can only run on GNU/Linux or Mac OS X he must install one of the two, preferably GNU/Linux since it respects the user's freedom. What server OS's and what real gamers use has nothing to do with this discussion on Firefox. Nope. Very compelling argument. You almost have me convinced that the kernel is the entire OS. DZComposer
I would love to permanently switch to Linux (Fedora, though, not Gentoo). Problem is, I use too much software that has no good equivalents on Linux yet. I could probably get away with switching to a Mac, but if you've been reading my previous posts, you know how I feel about Apple.
Wes
(Fedora, though, not Gentoo) But Gentoo makes you look like an l33t haxx0r! And it's 1.7% faster! I could probably get away with switching to a Mac, but if you've been reading my previous posts, you know how I feel about Apple. Yeah, I honestly cannot stand Apple's userbase and its products. Apple is kind of like the furry fandom to the computer world. Linux
"User"
Fair enough, so from now on we're going to refer to Windows 7 as "Windows NT 6.1" because NT is part of Windows 7 and we're also going to call Mac OS X "XNU". If you want to in this conversation about how gamers don't use Linux than by all means please do. That being said if we go through that line of discussion I was referring more actually to which categories of "OS's" are best for what purposes. Regardless, this line of reasoning really doesn't challenge or change the position that Linux does not = gamer's preference. What are "real gamers"? Most gamers don't care about what operating system the computer they're using runs. Of course they do because if they aren't using Windows then their selection of high end games is much more limited. Unless of course they're basement dwellers. That's irrelevant because getting into the specific "kind" of gamer is a moot point. A gamer is a gamer no matter which way you slice it. Also, Nova's post had 0% to do with my previous post. Anthony says: I dont give a fuck about Unix I was giving DZComposer a very good suggestion on an alternate browser. Since GNU Icecat can only run on GNU/Linux or Mac OS X he must install one of the two, preferably GNU/Linux since it respects the user's freedom. What server OS's and what real gamers use has nothing to do with this discussion on Firefox. Nova's fault....again lol. Point taken. I've already kicked Nova's ass in Warcraft 3, maybe I'll do it again instead of getting off topic even more. Anyways, I'll step aside.
GameMasterGuy
Oh look an Admin that's not overly serious and swear-avoiding, I like this place already. Anyways, on topic, I haven't updated yet, and it sounds like I shouldn't.
DZComposer
Maybe I don't want to look like a hacker. Maybe I don't find rolling my own kernel binaries to be worth my time. Maybe 1.7% performance differences are negligible to me. If you enjoy that, more power to you, but I have other things I'd rather do with my time. Also, I'm not a GNU zealot. I don't care what RMS thinks. I will call it Linux like 95% of everyone else.

Wes
Of course they do because if they aren't using Windows then their selection of high end games is much more limited. If people want to play "high end games" they wouldn't be using Lunix to begin with. A gamer is a gamer no matter which way you slice it. I don't agree. You have casual gamers, hardcore gamers, professional gamers, and then there's people like myself that sabotage games.
