GameMasterGuy
I've heard that many fans tried patching SF2 to the extent that it'll be as if it were finished by Nintendo, but all attempts failed; plus, requiring a ROM download would turn many would-be players off (myself included). So, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to work on a Flash remake of SF2 with me. I'm not *necessarily* going to program it, but if enough people show interest (and abilities in sprite-ripping, OST finding, and testing), then maybe I will. Nope.
Sounds cool, I can't make really good shit with Flash, I'm actually pretty lame at that, but I have two or three things to tell you... I've heard that many fans tried patching SF2 to the extent that it'll be as if it were finished by Nintendo, but all attempts failed Actually no. There's a patched Star Fox 2 with debug crap removed and bugs fixed ( like the one when you press select in areas when you're not supposed to walk ). Okay, maybe something is missing ( a "options screen" or a possible multiplayer ), but, heh, it's good. requiring a ROM download would turn many would-be players off (myself included) Why? I mean... there's no other way to get that game, you can't even buy an official cartridge. It's not like you're doing something wrong. but if enough people show interest (and abilities in sprite-ripping, OST finding, and testing), then maybe I will. Sprite-ripping if you're going to make it in 2.5 ( aka, 2D with 3D projections, that is not real 3D, examples: Wolfenstein 3D, Doom 1/2 ). Star Fox 2 is in full 3D, so you need to rip the 3D models... or make them. You know what would be actually easier? Working on the actual source code of that game ( the problem is that no one leaked it ).
GameMasterGuy
Oh, I figured that the two SNES ones had flat 3D objects, like a few things in N64 games. I haven't played either of them, thanks for clarifying.
LoneWolf
WebGL might be able to do something like this. I doubt flash would.
