El Zorro de la Estrella
I'd like to begin this by saying I have no idea if this even goes here Right, on to the review/rant! NOTE: I am gonna be utilizing some pro wrestling terminology, I'll try to avoid it as much as possible, but It's gonna happen. Thus, a reference for terms: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling_terms NOTE DEUX: There WILL be spoilers, so consider if ya wanna know the results before reading on The show opens with The Rock doing a long promo, which gets the crowd hot IMMIDEATLEY. He hits all of his catchphrases, puts over the show and crowd, and takes some shots at John Cena. To finish the segment, he gets the ENTIRE WORLD to do his most famous, THE most famous catchphrase of all time with him! IF YA SMELLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN'!! Not gonna lie, I was marking out BIG TIME for this entire segment. Show officially opens with the World Heavyweight Champioship Match: Edge © vs Alberto del Rio. Now, this is just wrong on so many levels. When have you EVER heard of a World Title match opening a show?! Meh, whatev. Pretty good match, Edge retains via Spear. As the norm, both competitors brought their best and some old favorite moves. Next up is Rey Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes. The basis for the feud is that Rey accidentally disfigured Rhodes face with his finisher, rendering him no longer "Dashing" Cody Rhodes. As per the norm, Rey was wearing a special set of ring gear and mask. This year was Captain America! (Can't find usable pics) This match was great, with Rey busting out some Ranas for the first time in years. Surprise upset, with Rhodes winning! Following the match, we get a comedy segment featuring Teddy Long and Snoop Dogg, in which som superstars try out to sing on his hext album. Funny stuff. Ends with Hornswoggle rapping, which is the first time he has ever talked. Next match is an 8-Man Tag Kane, Big Show, Kofi Kingston, and Santino Marella taking on The Corre. Match was about 2 minutes long and the former team won. Not much else to say lol. Next, we get a comedy segement featuring The Rock hitting on a Diva then working his way outta having to "electrify" a 90 year old Mae Young's life after telling the diva he would do just that to the next person to walk aroind the corner. X3 Mae leaves with the Diva but slaps Rock's ass on the way. Rock gets pissed and wonders aloud that no one else could have come around the corner. Cue epic moment 2, when Rock turns back a round and comes face to face with Stone Cold Steve Austin!! They have a stare-down and share a few words before Austin walks off. Next Match: Randy Orton v CM Punk. Punk hates Orton cuz he cost him the Title a few years back. Orton goes over clean. This was pretty much Match of the Night. Comedy segment with The Rock, Mean Gene, and Pee Wee Herman! X3 They announce the Hall of Fame inductees, with Shawn Michales being the surprise final inductee!! Now we get Jerry "The King" Lawler vs Michael Cole (W/ Jack Swagger) with Stone Cold as the Guest Ref. Overly long match that was pretty much junk, as it was a former wrestler facing a commentator. Lots to to mark out to though, mainly JR RETURNING! Also: Booker T on commetary, SPIN-A-ROONIE!, Stone Cold Stunners to Swagger and Book, good ol' fashioned beer bash at the end. Whole segment ruined by the Anonymous RAW General Manager saying that Cole won via DQ due to Austin shoving him at one point. Crowd is PISSED. Austin Stunner's the commentator who read the ruling. Better news: JR and The King are commentators for the rest of the night! FIRST MAIN EVENT: The Undertaker (18-0) vs Triple H II. This match had the most EPIC entrances EVER. Not even gonna try to describe 'em they were so amazing. It was a good match, but could have been SO much better. Like, in the middle it was like Move, stay down forever, move, stay down, etc. Honestly, this match let me down a bit. HOWEVER, I REALLY wanna watch it again, as during it I was falling asleep a bit (worked overnight the night before) and my buddy kept putting it down and stuff. BUT, I'm gonna be honest and say that everytime HHH hit a huge move and went for the cover, only to have Taker kick out at the last second I marked out a little bit. Taker finished HHH with the Devil's Gate (Gogoplata, for those who know MMA). Taker is 19-0 at Mania! Strange long thing after the match where it would seriously appear that Undertaker is badly injured. Not sure if real or not. Pee break match: Laycool and Dolph Ziggler vs John Morrison, Snooki (yes, THAT Snooki ) and TRISH STRATUS. Short match, some cool spots from everyone. Also, I jsut wanna say that Snooki was cool in the match. She only did 2 moves and got the pin, but those moves were: A handspring back elbow smash (Does about 4 handspring backflips across the ring and finshes with an elbow to the face) and a flipping splash thing! SIDE-NOTE: The match between Main Events at WrestleMania is affectionatley called The Pee Break Match by fans as it is almost always a short diva's match meant to cool down the crowd before the True Main Event. Generally short, the matches usually feature minimal competent wrestling and lots of hot chicks grappling. Which brings us to the ME of the evening, and where it all falls apart. Miz gets a nice hype vid. A Gospel choir sings to introduce Cena, followed by the head of said choir (Minister?) reading a prayer that Cena wrote. The choir sings the first part of Cena's song before the music takes over and The Champ makes his entrance! Cameraman follows him as he runs to the ring. Best part of the match is over. They wrestle an okay match for a bit, then end up knocking eachother out outside the ring, resulting in a Double-Countout. The Rock comes out, then the Anon GM sens a message. The Rock starts reading it, then uses it to springboard into the only catchphrase he hasn't used yet. He then restarts the match. 30 seconds into it, he Rock Bottom's Cena and costs him the belt. Next, he storms the ring again and destroys Miz with a spinebuster and People's Elbow. End on The Rock being awesome. Now, my issue with this is NOT that Cena lost. My first issue is that it made for a piss-poor finish to a Mania; a double countout, match restarts as No DQ, then 30 seconds later it's over due to someone interfering. My second issue is, despite the fact that The Rock is the greatest wrestler of all time, he is no longer an active wrestler and WWE just had him bury the Champion and Number One Contender. It really just says something when the biggsest show of the year relies on former stars to carry it. Overall, in hindsight, and now that the emotion of feeling let-down by said event is gone, I give it a 5/10 Not the worst Mania, but not very good. Well, that's my review of WrestleMania XXVII, if anyone really cares

El Zorro de la Estrella
'Scool bro. Honestly, this was less a conversation starter as it was a chance for me to reflect on the event in a more calmed mindset. I wanted to look over it as a fan, instead of as a critic, which sadly is how I watched it, I feel. It doesn't exactly help that my buddies watching it with me were being critics too. But by going over it again, I found it to be pretty decent. The Rock alone was worth the 60 bucks it cost to watch!
