They're big, the got nice weight to them. My only problem with them is that they did not put the cutie marks on BOTH flanks. The cutie mark is only on the right flank. Xidphel Posted October 23, 2012 Share Posted October 23, 2012 Hasbro Conference Call Reveals Possible Reason for 13 Episodes in Season 3 Transformers website TFW 2005 dug into a 2012 Q3 Earnings conference call and pulled out a few neat tidbits of information on why we are only seeing 13 episodes in season three. Brian Goldner (Hasbro's big cheese) was asked about reducing production costs, and within the response he revealed some specific information regarding childrens programming and how exactly seasons work. More specifically, this quote: "Yeah, yeah the cash spend you really have to do when you have a successful TV Series… In fact Hasbro Studios TV Shows has outperformed other TV Shows on the Hub by 74% rating with 4 of the Top 10 shows on the network right now. So as you look at great performance of TV Shows, you are able to produce fewer episodes in subsequent series than you need for earlier series. You know, kids love watching episodes over and over again but you have to add an element of newness but you don’t need to spend to produce entire new series again. You can add 13 episodes or a 26 episodes to a pool of 52 already produced Episodes. So therefore you are able to… with a success TV Series… produce fewer in a year. Overall, Hasbro Studios has greenlit over 800 half-hours of programming. We also still have several hundreds of half-hour programming that we are producing for the network and also looking at whether there are successful tv series we obviously then spend less per new series because we are able to produce newer shows." I can understand it from a marketing perspective, and someone who was a child for quite a few years! We really did re-watch Doug and Hey Arnold endlessly. New episodes were great, but when I was bored, anything was entertaining. I'm sure you all re-watch pony too, but our specific demographic is a bit more demanding than our kid counterparts. Hopefully as the brony scene continues to grow, we might get a bit more of a focus for pony! This isn't 100% confirmed for the reasoning behind 13 episodes, but it does give a bit of insight into why Hasbro does what they do. Gestalt Posted October 27, 2012 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Right, bronies. Adults that are a fan of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It's derived from "Bro" and "Pony." For a while it was gender neutral, but a recent term came about for adult female fans of the show, "Pegasisters." There's many reasons to like the show, the good art, the good story, the well developed characters (one thing I love about the show is that the main characters, often referred to as the Mane Six, at some point each one of them goes insane in one form or another, such as Pinkamena Diane Pie developing schizophrenia). It's also a show that rewards your interest in it, as the creators will often listen to the fans and incorporate things from them. For example, Derpy Hooves and DJ P0N-3. Contrary to popular belief held by those that haven't investigated the show at all, it is not a show for little girls. Lauren Faust wanted it to be exactly not that from the very beginning, and wanted it to be a show that parents could watch with their children and still enjoy, including male parents, and as a result there are a lot of adults who happen to just enjoy the show regardless of having children. The fandom, and it is just that, a fandom, not a fad or meme, is simply amazing. The music, art, ideas, and just general attitude of them is superb. Like any internet culture, it does have it's ups and downs, however, but you just take the bad with a grain of salt and realize that they aren't the majority, just usually the most vocal, and move on. Take this music for example: One of the most popular original music tracks done in the fandom, done by one of the biggest names in the pony music biz. Now view this image after/while listening to the song: Things with this care and devotion aren't made by people going, "Herp-derp, the show is popular so I'll say I like the show to be popular." That's real commitment right there, wrought by being a labour of love. All in all, however, the show, and the fandom, isn't something that can be easily explained. Using her ultimate Celestia-taught life giving magic, she has decided to create her own! Unfortunately, she can't think of anything. Through the power of SCIENCE, she has deduced that summoning a completely rampant pony fan might be a good start. Digging through her portal to the internet of 2012, she has re-discovered the brony community and found a group that over-analyzes absolutely everything in Equestria. Figuring that fights over the amount of stars on her butt symbol might be a waste of their energy, she has decided to give them a task! Your mission is to design a new pony race, one that would benefit Equestrians everywhere! Wings and horns are taken, so they need a specific implement to set them apart. Now go!
