Vy'drach
Good episode. Not the best, but it wasn't bad. And the song was great, not necessarily for the singing itself, but what was happening while the singing was going was hilarious. Go go Scooby Doo-esque music. Xortberg
As with the previous episodes, I typed up a wall of text on it elsewhere so I'll just copypasta here. Alrighty then. I didn't really like this episode. It wasn't bad, and it had some -seriously- good moments (like a legit A-Team reference in the music for one scene. Oh my god they actually referenced the A-Team). Buuut, it wasn't all that great either. First off, this is the second episode where I've significantly disagreed with the moral at the end. The first was from Feeling Pinkie Keen, because while there are -some- things that are easier/more practical to just take on faith, the end came off as promoting the idea that we shouldn't use logic to question religion and I don't like that. As with that episode, I both agree and disagree with parts of the moral here. The bits about how there are multiple sides to every story and how acting before you know them all can lead to disaster is very, very true. However, if the context to the other side's story isn't made known, as was the case with Bab (I think that's her name ) and her 'Bully or be bullied' philosophy, one can't really put any blame on the offended party for reacting in a certain way. As I watched the CMC put together their ingenious prank to get back at the bitch who was treating them all, even her family, like shit, I felt extremely proud. They were reacting self-sufficiently to a problem in a way that was both clever and showed that when they want to do something, they're willing to work their asses off to make it happen. What's more, they didn't venture into revenge until Bab completely overstepped her bounds, preferring instead to be passive and avoid conflict if possible. Good show, girls. If I was writing this episode, I'd have had the prank go through and either made Bab into a villain so there would be 3v3 finally between the CMC and the bullies, or make Bab gain respect for the CMC for pulling off such a well-executed revenge. But alas, I do not write for this show, and I doubt my version would have made it to the air if I did. Also, a second part of the moral was "Tell someone with authority if you're being bullied." I once again agree and disagree with this. That definitely -should- have been the first thing the girls did, but since they're little kids and didn't want to be snitches it's understandable that they wouldn't. If they had, they would have learned about Bab's circumstances, and could have resolved it peacefully without busting their asses to pull a prank they ended up regretting. However, just running to tell whenever someone bullies you isn't always going to work. Sometimes, you just -have- to trick someone into getting into a vehicle that will, a minute after they start driving, lose control and end up veering wildly off course and plummeting down a cliff if you want to make anything happen. Wait, I think that may have gotten away from me somewhere. Anyway, point is, let an adult or other authority know there is a problem, yes, but don't expect that to always magically fix things. The third moral I took away from this show is to forgive someone, even if they wronged you. That is something I almost wholeheartedly agree with. There are obvious exceptions, but Bab was just a petty bully and she had understandable, if misguided, motives in being one. She was contrite once the others confronted her with all the knowledge, and she deserved forgiveness. I did like that part. But moral aside, I did enjoy a lot of the show. The song was okay, though not fantastic like some, and as I mentioned before the A-Team reference in the scene where they start making their prank made my jaw hit the floor. Scootaloo was shown to be able to fly, at least a little bit, which is way more than we've seen from her yet, and Sweetie Belle's "Why does the world have to be so IRONIC?!" line was quite funny. I didn't much like Bab's design or voice acting, though I can't fault the VA seeing as they only had a few lines to work with and get into the groove of the character and she wasn't very well developed. As with all the other characters whose voices got better as they got screentime, I think if she becomes more regular she'll develop well. Overall, a pretty enjoyable episode if you don't look too deeply into it, but if you do then the moral is on shaky ground at best.
