Assassin's Creed

Recently I've fallen in love with a little franchise known as Assassin's Creed. I think these games are just awesome. Its got a great story, great gameplay, and playing them is an overall fun time.

These games even got Hideo Kojima's stamp of approval, because Altair's costume is unlockable in MGS4.

I was wondering if any one here has played them, and what are your thoughts? Tell me even if you hated them, I love a good argument. ;)

Guest Mr. Nintendo

I've only played the original and second Asassian's Creed and I gotta say I like both of them...I wish I could get AC: Brotherhood... :/

Brotherhood picks up at the exact moment AC2 stops, and that makes it look and feel pretty much like the same game, but its not.

I'm a decent fan of the series, played and enjoyed all the games. Though the series doesn't dominate my imagination and I have to be in the mood to play Brotherhood's multiplayer, I still enjoy it very much.

Call me a dumb ass but I've never played Brotherhood's multiplayer.

What's it like?

Easily one of my favorite new franchises around. The amount of dedication, detail, and research in these games sets a new standard for history-based games.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily say its a history based game, but yeah I agree with what you said about the research to get the time down.

Difficult. Basically everyone who is playing is an assassin. You get points by finding and killing your marks, which are other players. And you get to use your usual blending and parkour tricks to survive, but the thing is, people are smart and can see through your ruse, and nothing says "HEY! I'M AN ASSASSIN!" like parkour.

Look up some vids on youtube.

Its set in the Renaissance. And unlike OTHER games which make that kind of claim (coughcastlevaniacough), it tries to actually make an effort to accurately portray it.

You fight Dracula with a magical whip as a member of a magical, Dracula-slaying family. I dun think historical accuraccy is the series' top priority there, Rob. :B

Oh my goodness I love Assassins Creed! Epically the multiplayer of Brotherhood.

You always have to laugh when you get a Assassin pile.

Ooo! I need to remember that one! I heard another clever one the other day, but I have completely forgot what it was.

You should give them a shot.

Not only do they have good gameplay, the storyline is so well put together! Not to mention the little puzzles.

Just try to play them in order. Not only for the story, but once you go beyond the first game, you'll never want to try to play it again. Trust me. :P

That I can fully agree with!

There is so many improvements in controls and new capabilities between the first AC and the second.

I love the first one, I want to play the second one.

In fact, that sounds good right now. Off to go assassinate some guys!

Don't forget about getting to climb things almost like Spider-Man!

I have the original. :x I haven't beaten it yet, but I like it well enough. I just don't get a lot of time to play.

The first one is my favorite, because there's no bullshitting around. Its just straight up mass killing and violence. Plus it has Altair, who's bad ass.

And Assassins Creed is about a secret society of assassins and a rogue element of the Knights Templar waging a secret war against each other for control of magical macguffins left behind by super advanced god-alien-human-things. Not to mention Castlevania makes direct references to historical events at times: Lament of Innocence was set right after the Third Crusade, and Portrait of Ruin around World War II.

But I digress, the point is while they're both fantasy stories, they choose to be in a historical setting. But of the two, Assassins's Creed attempts to respect that setting and adhere to it as much as possible, where as Castlevania just makes shit up.

Also, Darth, as much as I love Assassin's Creed 1 for its setting, plot and characters, as well as raw brutality, the gameplay sucks hard. Way too redundant with an AI that cheats at every opportunity it gets. One of the only games that made me want to smash my TV, that.
