Where did Starfox go wrong?

The real problem with Adventures was the fact that it wasn't a StarFox game. Not figuratively, but literally. It wasn't a StarFox game, at least to begin with. It was a competent action-adventure game that Nintendo should have left alone. I can imagine that Dinosaur Planet would have been good, if it weren't for Nintendo's butting in at the last minute. All things considered, buying up the title after several years of development was a bad idea. Nintendo could have spent more time on their own game if they didn't use Adventures as empty filling in the cream puff that is the series. And everybody knows that cream puffs need good filling. If Nintendo had spent time on creating their own title they would have done a bang-up job of it I'm sure.

Then there's Krystal. Who the hell thought to keep her, eh? Sure, have Adventures take place, but at least leave her on dinosaur planet! Why would you try to take a native from their environment? (Boobs?) She was doing a good job of protecting dinosaur planet, and would have continued to do so if she just stayed there. It would have been a good idea to just leave her out of the series, but no, Nintendo had to keep every side character in the franchise. Look at SF64, and how all of it's characters make a return appearance in later titles. Look, if it was just because of the lack of female main characters, I'm sure you, Nintendo, could have done a better job using Katt or even Miyu/Fay, rather than trying to use somebody else's.

Nintendo, I am disappoint.

I guess we can all agree that Adventures BUTTF*CKED StarFox in it's entirety...although Krystal does please the furries, she was completley undeveloped and unnescesary...I would've rather had Dinosaur Planet as a standalone game...WHEN WILL NINTENDO LITSEN?????

we don't all agree, adventrues was good IMO. and was rightfully in a part of the seires. It might not have been a star fox game, but it was good for a diffrent game, in all honesty, i really wouldn't mind another adventrues like game. as for command, it would be easly to start off. instead of having one definent ending we have 9 to choose from. (most retarted as **** though)

I second that. Adventures was alright considering that it didn't have the same feel as its predecessors. The graphics and voice acting were a huge leap for the series, though the plotholes and lack of more side-quests are the only thing I'm not really liking about it. As for Krystal I don't think that she was unessesary. Sure there was Katt holding the spot as one of the first female characters, but another one wouldn't hurt considering that Miyu and Fay never made their big break into the series (though I do wish that they did.) And another thing about the whole Dinosaur Planet thing is that we will never know why they made the change. Probably because since the gamecube was on its way they knew Dinosaur Planet wouldn't last very long on the N64. But I accept what has happened and I think it came out pretty descent. Whats done is done.

WHEN WILL NINTENDO LITSEN?????

Because poor literacy is KEWL!

WHEN WILL NINTENDO LITSEN?????

Thet wont listen. this is just one of thoughs game that was pulled out of a hat. Sure they made games........but this wasn't their quality work. Now what would happen if Nintendo never took over the prodject?

Hmmmm.. Where did Starfox wrong....

I'd probably say it went wrong when they worked on Assault and rushed it from the begining to the end. If they spent at least more time developing their games instead of rushing them, then everything would've been straight.

idk if this had been mentioned, but I think what hurt the series a bit was the in game time line. between 64 and adventures, there was an "8 year gap" they could have easily made a few games to fill in that void, with either Andross being the main villain or not. then in Assault it was "2 years later"...ok, you couldn't think of anything to put between there, maybe have a game of some type where is shows Krystal as a nOOb to the Arwing or something. Heck, even have Panther show up way before assault.

The problem was that Adventures wasn't really supposed to be a Starfox game to begin with. The reason Starfox got shoehorned in it is beyond my knowledge. Adventures just derailed the norm of the series. They tried to link SF64 to Adventures by releasing the comic "Farewell Beloved Falco" which sliced the gap into 2 4-year intervals. Assault being 2 years after Adventures isn't really that much of a gap. I mean what amazing stuff could've went on in those 2 short years? Weapons smuggling? Drug Cartel takeovers? 2 years is a small gap compared to the once grand 8 year gap.

Actually, while I don't think that they ruined the series, the time gaps were needlessly long. A short story that takes place over a day or two (FBF) is hardly enough to negate the ludicrous 8 year timegap between 64 and Adventures. For a team we're supposed to believe are a bunch of kickass mercenaries, it's really just painful. "Oh I'm sure they got odd jobs and stuff". I would dig the hell out of a game where we just get to play Star Fox running around picking up regular baddies and stuff. Hell, I've been WAITING for a game like that. "X has invaded Lylat, stop them" is boring.

Missed opportunities in every regard is where Star Fox went wrong.

Krystal.

I was going to say her as well, but I thought I'd get trolled hardcore by Krystal Fans if I said that. But yeah when Krystal came the series sort of went wrong.

It's more the other way around. Krystal fans get trolled more here actually by people who used to, or are still, moderators on the KLA of all places. It's a strange situation indeed.

Starfox went wrong where it went wrong.

Finding an answer like this is like finding the Lost Ark without the Amulet of Ra. Eventually it will be found, but the ideas of "where" and "Why" will give us hints.

My main concern is cheezy and bad voice acting. The voices themselves, I don't mind.

We do know where it went wrong. It's called Adventures, Krystal, and rapid formula changes.

Why? People still seem to be discussing what this topic intended to discuss.

Anyway,

My main concern is cheezy and bad voice acting. The voices themselves, I don't mind.

I don't think poor voice acting is why Star Fox went wrong but I do agree that the acting itself has been meh. The way Krystal says "Pigma" in Assault weirds me out every time.

Well can it be about something other than "it was Krystals fault" its getting kind or repetitive and old. One cannot logically conclude that Krystal was the cause simply because she was there. My only conclusion.......THE WRITERS! DUN DUN DUN!

The series was bad before Command. Adventures set the path, Assault killed the series, Command pissed on its grave.

Looks like we got ourselves a Krystal fa-, oh wait! I can already tell, it's in your sig.

You say as if Krystal is really important to the whole SF saga, what has she done to the franchise? Name at least one positive thing she did when she became a SF character...nothing but boosting the furry fandom and spawn SF Y!ff. I could say Assault would be better without Krystal but then people would probably whine about her because either "SHES SO HAWT" or "SHE AT LEAST KNOWS HOW TO FLY SOMETHING"

Let's see what positive things happened to her in Command...oh I know! Nothing again! Her character development from all I know seems pretty empty and her reason of being in Command is... NONE!!! She shouldn't be in Command at all! That game should not have existed unless everyone at Nintendo knows what they're doing to the franchise and also it's fans.
