Everyone loves movies. So what are my 10 favorite films I've ever seen? Read to find out, my friends! Take into account that there are many movies I have not seen or have not seen in long enough to put on this list. Because of this, some forgotten favorites may be missing. Let's go! (I typed this earlier for something else, sorry if it is quite long. I don't expect you to read it all  )

10. The Great Mouse Detective

The Great Mouse Detective is a great animated Disney film. The animation's great, the characters are great, and the story is classic. Basil's adventures to find the father of Olivia Flaversham are filled with wonderful drama and comedy. The best part though is that the film has my favorite movie villain of all time, Professor Ratigan. Vincent Price did the perfect, funny, insane villain that is matched only by Dr. Nefarious from the Ratchet & Clank games in my opinion. Overall, a fun Disney classic that I enjoy.

Favorite Character: Professor Ratigan

Favorite Song: "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind"

9. Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters is a genius, simple concept. 3 (4 later on) guys join together, using their skills to catch and stop ghosts throughout New York City. The humor is great, and the story just can't get much more fun and enjoyable. The effects were great for it's time, and the film was extremely well filmed. The characters are fun to watch on their zany, ghost-catching antics. And all I can say is, it's a classic that will always be remembered.

Favorite Character: Peter Venkman

8. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Another classic everyone knows! Indiana's first adventure is certainly his best. The characters are fun and so is the action! It's an excellent introduction to an overall excellent trilogy of classic adventure films. There really isn't much else to say. Really... it's Indiana Jones... it's, well, awesome.

Favorite Character: Indiana

7. Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation

Underrated classic alert!! Tiny Toons is a great, classic cartoon... but there was a movie? Yep. A direct- to-video film called How I Spent My Vacation. It takes the fantastic parody and humor that was found in the middle to end of the show and shoves tons of it into a whole film! There are many different storylines that play out separately and often intertwine. One of the main ones involves Buster Bunny and Babs Bunny getting lost on a river trying to find their way back to Acme Acres, which is funny enough in itself. There are other smaller stories with other characters, but the one that stands out the most is one in which Plucky Duck goes on a road trip with Hampton Pig to a fictional amusement park Happy World Land. Road trip comedies overused? I agree, but this road trip is the funniest I've ever seen in a film. This movie must be watched even if it's simply for Plucky's road trip. An excellent movie that is really under appreciated. When Plucky finally arrives at Happy World Land, the results are some of the funniest seen in any comedy film.

Favorite Character: Plucky Duck

6. Toy Story

Toy Story was one of my absolute favorites when I was a little kid and still is. It’s funny that Pixar’s first film is also often considered it’s best, which I would have to agree with. Toy Story had the characters and heart of any other Disney film with adding cool, new (at the time) 3D CG 3D visuals. I love seeing the story of Woddy and Buzz’s bickering to near the end when they become friends and must work together to stop Sid from destroying more innocent toys. All the side characters are a riot, too, and are really unforgettable. There’s no wonder to the fact that the series has 3 films. The best part is that they are all fantastic, which is often rare in a film series.

Favorite Character: Woody

Favorite Song: "You Got a Friend in Me"

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of the most visually stunning animated films of all time. I thought Wallace & Gromit with it’s frame-by-frame clay animation was fantastic, but TNBC takes it to the 9th degree. Everything looks amazing and there’s always something interesting to see that you might have not noticed the first time. The story itself is wonderful, and I really do love the characters. The Oogie Boogie Man has become a favorite villain of mine, although he does get a mildly disappointing amount of screen time. Another part of the film I love is the score and songs. They are all awesome and work perfectly with the characters and setting. Tim Burton really knew his style and what he was doing with this masterpiece. In my opinion, The Nightmare Before Christmas is the greatest Christmas movie of all time.

Favorite Character: Jack Skellington

Favorite Song: "This is Halloween"

4. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a comedy classic. Everyone knows it. If you love comedy, it is the next movie you must see. Every second of the film is funny with crazy antics and dialog. It takes place in a beautiful Middle Ages England setting, but that doesn’t mean that it takes itself seriously in the slightest. The Monty Python team really went all out with this one creating some of the most memorable comedy characters and one of the most nonsensical plots of all time. In fact, it barely has plot. It doesn’t need it. MPatHG focuses on making you laugh first, then the other stuff later. It makes me crack up every time I watch it, and has some of the most memorable quotes of any film in history. I give it 5 shrubberies out of 5.

Favorite Character(s): The Nights Who Say "Ni"

3. Aladdin

Disney had an official renaissance for it’s animation department in the late 80s to early 90s. It really started with the great film The Great Mouse Detective and (probably) ended with another great film The Emperor’s New Groove. One of the greatest films to come at that time in my opinion was Aladdin. Aladdin is a perfect combination of great and memorable characters, plot, comedy, drama, and more. If the first half of the film was great enough, add Genie later on and it gets even better. Also, Jafar has to be one of the most evil villains Disney has ever come up with. I really love how grand everything feels, and how fantastic the animation is. This is another favorite from my childhood that is even better now than it was back then. Now that I’m older, there’s more to appreciate and laugh at in this fantastic, classic film.

Favorite Character: Genie

Favorite Song: "Prince Ali"

2. Back to the Future

Ah, the 80s are fun aren’t they? The rise of Nintendo and arcades, the stereotypical 80s style that is fun to laugh at today, and amazing, classic films. In my opinion, Back to the Future is the pinnacle of films in that era and the greatest movie Steven Speilburg has produced. The story of Marty McFly as he goes with Doc Brown on a time traveling adventure is a simple concept, but it works perfectly. It doesn’t try to be as flashy and grand as the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and other flashier films of the time, because it doesn’t need to. BttF has classic and hilarious characters with amazing acting. No one knew BttF would be a huge success, but thankfully it was and gave us 2 more solid films (not as great as the original, but still very good). I love how Marty has to find the 50s Doc Brown, get his parents back together so he’ll still exist in the future, and avoid causing time catastrophe. The comedy is classic and still holds up today, and, in my mind, Back to the Future deserves this spot on my list.

Favorite Character: Dr. Emett Brown

1. The Lion King

The Lion King really wasn’t my favorite film growing up. If you would have asked me what I would rather watch, I probably would have chose Aladdin or Toy Story over it. (I liked it, but it wasn’t a favorite). Recently I felt the need to watch it again now that I’m older, and, wow. The Lion King is perfect. Yeah, I said it. It’s perfect, or, as perfect as a movie can get as none is really “perfectâ€. And I’ve seen A LOT of awesome movies that I love in my 16 years of life, but none has impressed me as much as Disney’s The Lion King. Many people love The Lion King as well, but I don’t think many would call it their FAVORITE film of all time, but, well, it is mine. So, let me tell you why. First off, the animation is amazing. From beginning to end the animation impresses. Whatever team within Disney did the animation for TLK has done the best animating in history. Also, until I saw this an Aladdin recently, I didn’t really see WHY I like 2D animation better than CG. Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of CG movies and their animation, but there’s a little magic to classic, well done 2D animation that just can’t be replicated with CG. In fact, I really want to see more traditionally animated films in the future along with CG. Second, the plot has to be one of the finest in film history. It draws influences from Shakespeare's works Macbeth and Hamlet, but, if you know me, you know that I think his stories are quite average. But The Lion King takes these influence and does it's own thing that is 10000x more powerful than those plays. It amazingly blends drama and comedy together like no other animated film (to it's degree). Third, the characters are absolutely unforgettable. Simba? Nala? Mafusa? Zazu? Timon? Pumbaa? Scar? Yeah, you know 'em. And if you love this movie, then you love the characters. They're a joy to see. Also, the voice acting is also some of the greatest in animation history. They couldn't have chosen better roles for these characters. Finally, the musical score is the BEST. It fits perfectly all the time and is masterfully composed. Also, every song in the movie is excellent and some of the best in film history. I really feel bad for kids who are losing sight of the classics and moving on to todays often crappy films and tv shows. (There have always been terrible of both, and even today there are great movies and tv shows, but this decade the bad is outweighing the good). The Lion King especially shows this. The Mona Lisa? Sure. But The Lion King is filled with even more mastery than even that respected piece of art.

Favorite Character: Simba/Timon

Favorite Song: "I Just Can't Wait to Be King"

I hope you enjoyed my list! What are some of your favorites of all time?

*Expects The Lion King and some other Disney movies on the list*

1. The Lion King

(Should I be surprised? :P)

Anyhoo, I pretty much like the Indiana Jones trilogy. (I don't count Crystal Skull as a movie because it...was just awful and I think I should never speak of it again.) And also Star Trek: The motion picture.

Avatar is overrated IMO. It looks great and is a great movie, but it's not an all-time best... nothing against you, though! ^_^

I love how some people's lists mostly only have movies made in the last decade.

WATCH THE CLASSICS

I've even surprisingly enjoyed movies that I thought would be boring, for example, Marry Poppins and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Breakfast Club is considered a classic alot of times (made in 1985 and well known and often considered a classic).

To Kill A Mockingbird is an amazing book and the movie actually didnt mess the plot up and make it a complete disaster like most movies based on books do.

I'm a sucker for horror films, but not the gory slasher ones. I mean real, creepy ones like The Grudge or Paranormal Activity. Only thing is, I scream at them sometimes and cling on to the unfortunate soul next to me.

But saying that... I also have an obsession with the Mel Gibson movie What Women Want. I just love it. It has awesome soundtrack, the actors are great and the setting makes me feel all cozy and stuff. I've watched it, oh, I don't know how many times... <3
