I love this show, but only this show.

The old MLP shows are scary, pointless, wastes of animation.

The vast difference is amazing.

Please, folks. This is the Counter Point, keep the videos and other crap out of it. There's a topic to fangasm over ponies. Do that there, please.

Sorry, I was just agreeing with him, but letting M. Bison do the talking. :)

Most of my friends know I like it, and don't really care. Only two don't, and one doesn't so he doesn't tell the other, who is the most successful person ever when it comes to trolling me. One of those people that can just push my buttons flawlessly. The one that doesn't troll me though probably suspects, as he plays with me on the Legion of Ponies servers in TF2, sees my spray is Derpy Hooves, and has seen me talk about the show in the TF2 chat. He's actually really cool with the LoP servers, only things he doesn't like is the massive wait times (they have two servers and they are almost always full, with long wait times), dying to one player using the name Lyra, and the DJs that come in and play music (not always pony, but more than often it is, which I love as it's 20% cooler to be backstabbing people to "Art of the Dress" or hitting people with the Boston Basher, or as it's called with the skin I had, the Rainbow Crasher, while listening to "Rainbow Dash Tylenol."

*Sniff* I missed my Pony Fort... I mean, Team Fortress 2.

Try an animated show that isn't a popular meme and then try again.

Also take in mind that a lot of people actually don't even know of the "popular meme" aspect of the show.

Which... would account for every one of my friends.... :/

You forget that memes only really stay on the internet, so the average joe wouldn't know wtf.

Exactly. I was even using the internet for a long time before learning about this show.

Doubt it. I hate to harp, but when I watched the show back before it was a meme, the usual responce was negative or indifference. Add in that most people under 30 watch TV shows on the internet anyway. Most know of the show, even if they haven't watched it, due to the meme. It's also telling that to mention any other cartoon gets the same indifferent or negative responce as before. If it wasn't for the meme, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Unless all your friends are over 30 and don't know how to use a PC.

Whatever. At least the meme part makes it a bit easier to watch the show without people thinking you're weird.

And makes it easier for people to realize its awesomeness.

Agreed on the first part, hence why I said "Try an animated show that isn't a popular meme and then try again." but with the downside that people assume you are watching it for the meme, but that's not a big problem.

I disagree on the second point. I doubt many who are into the meme also have watched it as most just are doing the meme (portal was a good example of this) and thus keeping up appearences. There are also who people who will watch the show and say it's awesome reguardless of quality, again, because of the meme. On the awesomeness scale, MLP is about a 2 or 3 compaired to Buzz Lightyear or Earthworm Jim which get's a full 5. MLP was/is good but not great, but it's aplified due to there being nothing of value for 6 years.

I could give you a list of recommendations, either a personal list or general "popular among animation fans" type list.

Most of my friends actually had never heard of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Too tired to go into detail really, but suffice it to say that most of my friends needed me to enlighten them about the shows existence. Still haven't gotten any of my friends outside of SF-O to watch it.

Now that's a matter of opinion. :)

I do love Earthworm Jim, and Buzz is cool, but I actually always liked Woody better.

Meh. I actually see it as relevant, since this topic is asking if the show is worth the MASSIVE hype it gets. Sabre says no, and backs it up with some examples. Not too much evidence, but I can see his point.

Anywho, this whole topic is really a matter of opinion :P

Indeed it is. :)

I personally think it's worth the hype. Not that it's a 10/10 show, of course, but because... it's MLP and somehow managed to be awesome. But that's just me.

In that case it's a question of how much hype there was.

It launched with almost no hype due to cartoons being terrible atm, word of mouth gave it high expection, then 4chan got it and blew it up. So it depends what messure you use, and how many of your RL friends are into the internet, which is all of them in my case.

The fact that I am watching and fully enjoying a MLP series still astounds me.

IMO the best episode is green isn't your color. All characters work perfuctly together, the drama, the comedy, and everything was wonderful

I think for me it's gotten the point where I don't have to follow FIM related stuff. Why? Because I know people who will do that for me. Let my brony friends just show me the cool stuff :B
