Logs as a reliable source of Evidence

Alright, after dealing with yet another tricky case of unfair banning due to foggy chat/pm logs, I have come to the decision of addressing a new rule to deal with this kind of cases. I'm not going to go into lots of details, since that will stir up drama, but Arashikage was banned for 2 weeks, thanks to a case of "foggy" evidence. Making the same mistake, twice, proves that there's something wrong with our policies, and it falls into my responsibility to deal with things like this.

First I'm going to start saying that we try to get what it's best for the community and we are still subject to higher forces beyond our control(aka, the terms to have a forum up) and to our human nature. It's really hard to maintain what goes on private around here (aka pms) and it's even harder to control what happens outside the forum and outside our jurisdiction, however, since the Matt case, we have implemented the zero tolerance rule about death threats, even if that happens outside the forum. It's not something to joke about, and if one of the forum members is targeted, we have the right to pull the ban hammer since "said member is no longer fit to be around SFO". This rule is managed the same way as with Sexual Harassment cases. If said threats are issued inside the forum (topics, pms) , there's no turning back, it would be an instant ban hammer.

However...dealing with evidence provided from a source outside the forum has proved to be a double edged sword, proved by the fact that we have been wrong, twice already. Of course, if we are talking about broken rules that happened outside the forum, we simply won't care. Again, we only manage outsidetheforum issues if they threaten up the life of one of OUR registered members.

So cutting the boring stuff, the new rule will be, for extreme zero tolerance behaviors that happen OUTSIDE SFO, we will require not only the obvious evidence, but the testimony of the person issuing the evidence and the person who made the supposed threats, as well as witnesses.

I would like to thank Kage for being patient and for using our open door policy to demand justice, as well as the staff for righting what it was wronged.

Again, a humble apologize to Kid and Kage, your status is back to normal.

I thank you Steve for being open minded and willing to hear my case. I am very glad justice was brought, and I accept your apology.

As a side note, from now on, lying to us about something to get someone banned may get you banned instead.

Don't use us as tools in your own personal issues with others.
