ARWINGCOMMANDER 3987
The following have been depicted numerous times in modern media as actually wearing skimpy clothes, instead of the more conservative clothing they actually wore back in their times. Native American women: African women: South American women: Ancient European women: With the examples above in mind, does this mean that men in Western societies are just lusty little halfwits who want to see half-naked women in non-Western cultures (Especially in ancient times), wearing "bikini-esque" outfits, regardless of the historical inaccuracies? Is it all hormone fueled bungling and idiocy, which has destroyed what's real?

ZM Anonymous
The following have been depicted numerous times in modern media as actually wearing skimpy clothes, instead of the more conservative clothing they actually wore back in their times. Is it all hormone fueled bungling and idiocy, which has destroyed what's real? Why is this an issue? It's just adult roleplay. If it makes money, nothing's gonna stop it. Here let's apply it to modern times and you'll get what I mean. What's sexier? This? Or This? When it comes to adult roleplay, it doesn't matter what the historical inaccuracies is. Is it a fantasy? Yes. Does it make us sick individuals? Hell no! We can't all think and feel the same way as you. It's just wank material. They're not trying to be accurate. They're just trying to make a little cash. I also think your definition of "Western Society" is just US and US alone. There's no true definition of western society because it can mean so many different things. We're not the only ones who think of sex. India was the birthplace of the Kama Sutra. Should they be considered hedonistic animals too?
Sylum
Agreeing with ZM. All you have is fan service art(which even happens to Caucasian women) and adult roleplay costumes as proof. So no. We are not all "lusty little halfwits" This topic....*facepalm*
Redeemer
Here's the facts. Men like sex. Women (and other men but that's unrelated here) provide sex. Sex sells. For a lot. Let me tell you something that really pissed me off. When I was training as a nurse, and told people, 70% of them would be like "Oh ho ho, so you have a nurses uniform then?" It's not what they thought, or dreamed of. My uniform consisted of a long, stiff cotton shirt that opened at the front, and waist-high dove grey trousers. The shirt, sure, could have been made into something fun as it was perhaps the same shape as a mini-dress. But that wasn't the point. The point was that when I told people I was a nurse, or they saw my uniform or whatever, lolz were had regarding the stereotype related to nurses. It was funny at first but quickly got very, very old. Most men like skimpily-clad women. Why? I'm not too sure. I guess it's because of sexual fantasy, and some guys do like women in uniform/costume. As ZM said, it's just part of the whole bedroom role playing scene. I wouldn't say it makes men sick or anything. Maybe a little perverted, haha, but everyone has their turn-ons. It's just one of those things.
unoservix
this is like saying that because one person is spewing a bunch of logical fallacies and stupid assumptions, that means everyone on SFO is a drooling idiot who has to be reminded to take a shit every so often and can't brush their teeth without adult supervision

unoservix
well, see, your point might have worked if you'd provided any such "real life examples of those costumes from hundreds of years ago" but-- oh who am i kidding it's still ridiculous specious logic. "look at these images intentionally drawn to be sexually appealing! this just proves that we're all sex-addled maniacs destroying reality itself in our insatiable quest for poon" yes, society's sexual mores and attitudes change over time, but the change is not as radical as you seem to think. Victorian sexual attitudes did not control the world forever and all time everywhere; it only really controls the lens through which we view the past today, by making us assume that everyone thought sex was naughty and dirty and wrong until the 1960s. or should i go find James Joyce's love letters for you or something? spoiler alert: i am totally not going to go find James Joyce's love letters for you. shit's nasty, son
Redeemer
Well I guess, to be fair, that back then people wore clothes that were comfortable and provided easy movement. I don't belive that they looked the way we're seeing them now, not at all. The modern day human just has a habit of sexing everything up. Because that sells. Look at facebook photos, girls' photos in particular. Most of them pout and push their chest together. Why? To feel attractive. What's attractive these days? Boobs and eager women. Maybe to you, they are. We all have different turn-ons. Again. It's just adult roleplay. Sarita
It's actually most likely true that the women of those peoples wore even less than depicted. Ancient civs weren't very modest. That's mostly a European convention. (Some African women I know FOR SURE in modern times still go topless, to provide an example.) EDIT: I forgot to state my point. My point is, they were probably decenting it up for TV.
Harlow
Well, real African and South American tribes are as scantily clad, or even more (naughty bits exposed) So it would be a more appealing adaptation on that case... But you're kinda right on the Ancient European and Native Americans... But who cares if you're right? They look hot :P

ARWINGCOMMANDER 3987
I would like a little more than a loincloth, if you please. >_> How come in real life it seems like indigenous women can't wear loincloths? Is the loincloth the sausage fest of the clothing world like pants used to be?
Drasiana
Perfect example of today's male mentality. I think they're hot too. As a girl. So. It's not a big secret that a lot of indigenous people in South America and Africa don't dress in ways we would consider "modest". As in, tits out, bro. But that doesn't mean they're all sex goddesses that want in your pants either. Yeah people are going to draw what they think is hot, but whatever. There's nothing wrong with fantasizing about a hot ethnic woman, and it's only ever "wrong" if you come to expect or demand sex from a real person based on a preconcieved notion or stereotype. Milkyway64
I sorta agree. Everything in moderation, draw and look at whatever you want, just don't let it fool or otherwise consume you. Looking at you, furry fandom.
Robert Monroe
ArwingCommander. Why do you make these threads. Like, seriously. Do you put any goddamn thought into them at all? LET'S REVIEW A FEW THINGS: 1: You are posting the following: -white women wearing halloween costumes that anyone with half a brain cell can tell are not authentic -FICTITIOUS African-esque women drawn by A WOMAN OF AFRICAN DESCENT for her original science fiction story -fanart by ShoNuff of a Dreamworks character -some kind of metal album art of a woman with horns saying "ancient European". Seriously, what? To answer your actual question, of course men like to see attractive women. But hurfdamndurf, 1: this is not an exclusively western problem. Get out more. Japan has more creepy shit than every western nation combined. 2: does not make the men lustful halfwits because only a total dumbass thinks that sort of thing is what people really wore. 3: they do this to western women too. 4: people are naturally attracted to the exotic, regardless of culture. It has nothing to do with being shallow, and everything to do with interest in the unknown. 5: get over your man-hate-guilt thing. Women objectify men too you know. And for the record, depending on where you look, women (and men) DID run around mostly naked or in loincloths. Not for sex appeal, but because they just don't WORRY about that kind of shit.
