No, you shouldn't have to change your opinion but maybe the way it's presented at times as a preemptive move to avoid potential future conflict in a topic - especially if you already have a good idea on the background of the person you're debating with. Personally, I'll adjust my debating style slightly depending on who I'm debating with if it avoids unneeded drama - within reason. Also, taking into account past history of members when it comes to drama/conflicts/retorts etc is important as well. In the end, I'm just trying to get everyone to play nice.
