Battlefield 3!

Someone said problem without using a trollface or a meme?

Also, I'll get this point out of the way. This game, from the previews and based on other BF games, is far from realistic. If you want realism, play Arma or Flashpoint. These games are about as realistic as Indina Jones, and that's not a bad thing.

Onto the main point though. I have no problem. The game has great graphics, and the campaign looks cool. You have to remember though that these are trailers, and are often misleading. What I'm seeing here is people going on about how awesome the game be based soley on trailers. For what it's worth, the animations are really nice. There's one trailer where you see them running in slow motion, looks great.

What is shown in the multiplayer trailers is nothing like what the actual gameplay is like. I played 2142 and a bit of BF2. Not only are the games not that dramatic, but if you tried any of the cool stuff seen in the trailers you'd be taken down instantly. As said, no problem with that, but I'd rather see stuff you can actually do.

As for the singleplayer, my concern it will be flat. Walking from A to B triggering quick time events and scripted scenes is boring, and the only shooting we see is of no skill, no threat peons or otherwise doing exactly what the CO tells him and nothing else. Oh, and a boring tank battle level. I like games to be interactive, and I will be playing BF3 for the single player. As such, I want the gameplay to be fun. Compare the trailer for Resistence 3. Yeah, Resistence 3 look dull by campairson, but at least you can see that the game is being played, rather then just watching.

Well, okay. I love Battlefield 2 and 2142, and they are both perfect teamwork FPS games to me. I've played ArmA II and it's crappy. I'll admit, it's realistic (enough) and it's sort of fun to play, but the gameplay is just so horribly made that it's unplayable for me. :(

You would think that with such a huge claim as "the most realistic FPS" it would have better gameplay.

Battlefield 3, on the other hand, will have good gameplay. (Almost a given)

And it also looks very realistic. Forget the single player for now, because I'm excited for BF3 for the multiplayer (mostly) and so far, the trailers look great. I enjoy Battlefield so much because it's realistic in the sense that you have to WORK TOGETHER to win. The maps are balanced and look real. It plays like a real military battle might. (Without the respawning of course) And the emphasis on teamwork and squads, etc, is amazing. Not to mention the spotting. The "Thanks," "Sorry," "Go!," "[Enemy] Spotted," etc, is one awesome thing. In Battlefield 2, you can go around actually helping your teammates when you're on a completely opposite side of the map. It's great. And the maps are nice, large, and fun.

If Battlefield 3 is the "true successor" to Battlefield 2, then I have no doubt I'll be playing it every day starting October 25th for a long, long, time.

Because if it is the true successor to (in my opinion) the best military game ever made, then it should definitely build upon so many things BF2 lacked (but still made up for with everything else) and become the new "best military game ever made". Add to that, fully destructible environments, some of the best graphics possible, realistic weapons, realistic ambiance, sounds, and constant shouting, yelling, etc, (like in the gameplay) and it should be absolutely stunning. Not to mention all the other little things Battlefield has going for it…

And one more thing, the multiplayer in BF3 is a lot like what the trailers are showing. There are actual gameplay videos on YouTube now and it looks a lot like the trailers. It looks amazing.

Anyway… ;)

I'm not the biggest War FPS person, but this game looks pretty cool.

That's the problem with realism. It isn't fun. When people claim to want realism, what they really mean is they want an excuse for losing. "That shot would have totally killed him" ect.

When it comes to teamwork, I prefer Brink. That's a game where you either play the team or fail. One of the main reasons people QQ about that game is because they can't lone wolf it or rely on daddies £100 a week internet to win.

We're going to have to disagree on that last point though. The trailers are dramatic and awesome, the gameplay videos are guys taking pot shots. It kind of reminds me of this.

Well, whatever. I have my own opinion and you have yours. I hate being in debates…I can't seem to express what I really feel.

Let me just say that I think Battlefield 3 will be "all that". :)
