Starfox 64 Music Wanted

Well on into the intro: yeah, I'm new here. I've bought Starfox 64 for a speech project back in March and have been playing it ever since. I bought the game again along with some others for my Wii in May. I also own Super Smash Bros Brawl. Anyway, I got an idea to get all Starfox 64 tracks onto my computer. This is for something bigger I'm working on that involves the same game. I spent the last few days looking for all 45 tracks(according to the jukebox). I have a lot of free time on my hands.

This is the thing: I don't want what the music sounds like on the N64. It sounds something like Midi format, muffled, blurred somewhat, and unlively. I'm converting them to 128 kbps on Mp3 format. It makes the music sound like it was just performed by the actual creators if you know I mean. If I could attach an mp3 file, I would, but don't know how sadly. Basically, it doesn't sound muffled and you can hear actual instruments sometimes. I also came across a song that was cut from Starfox 64. I think it was meant for Vs. Mode when you enable the feature to walk and battle.

The songs I'm missing are the title screen, Macbeth/Titania, Katina, Katt's Theme, Bill's Theme, and both boss themes from sector Y(one has segments missing and the other is when the last shogun shows up). Continuing the list(from jukebox): Crash, Game Over, Verses: Last Point, VS. Setup, Enter Venom, Venom's Tunnels, Andross, Robot Andross, Andross's Brain, Final Mission Accomplished, Mission Complete, Incoming, and Mission Intro 2-5.

I know this ridiculous to ask on a first post, but I'm beginning to run out of options. I would like them in mp3 and not sounding like the actual N64 music. Please if you all would help me, I'd be grateful.

The problem with your request is that the music was made in a "MIDI" format (The N64 didn't use MIDI per-se) for the game, and the OST release just used the same songs.

They are not MIDI files. The "MIDI" sound comes from the fact that the N64 did not have the storage capacity for a full soundtrack's worth of waveform audio. So, they used a programmable synth instead. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time used the same soundset.

In short, you're asking for something that doesn't exist. We have the SF64 music in MP3 format, but it is the same sound you get out of the N64.

That said, some of the songs were later performed by a real orchestra for Star Fox Assault, but not all of them were (Star Fox Assault was its own game with its own score).

The songs which have been Orchestrated for SFAs are:

Theme Song

Corneria

Katina

Map ("Briefing 2")

Training Mode ("Briefing 1")

Meteo

Sector Y/Solar ("Sargasso")

Fortuna ("Fichina")

Star Wolf

Game Over [Only the intro]

Game Clear (Was in a cutscene without separated voice acting.sound effects)

Other than these songs, there aren't better sounding versions, unless you want to check OCRemix or a similar site for arrangements done by fans. Your chances of success are low, though, as Star Fox 64 is not a popular game to do that with.

If you want non-MIDI Star Fox music, then I would suggest you listen to Star Fox Assault's score, as all of the singleplayer BGMs were live orchestra recordings.

We have the Star Fox 64 music here: http://starfox-online.net/index.php?/media/mu-sf64

The Star Fox Assault music is here: http://starfox-online.net/index.php/media/mu-sfas

It is possible that better sample sets will be used for Star Fox 64 3D, but it has not been released yet. It releases in Japan next month.

I'd love to see the SF64 score orchestrated myself, but if they don't do it for SF643D (which is unlikely), then there is no real incentive for someone to do it.

Also, if you found an unused song from SF64, please send it to me. I was not aware of the existence of one, and I even have the USF music dumps off of the N64 cart.

Also, if you have trouble hearing all of the instruments, make sure you are using a stereo player with a centered pan. The music for N64 games has horrendous stereo panning where some instruments only come out of one stereo channel and not the other,

There's a MIDI download site, it called VGmusic.com. There's not all Star Fox 64 themes but the most part is here.
