Sabre
This is a weird story. Apparently the Wii 2 (or wii u, which I refuse to call it since it sounds like a kid playing with police cars) has questionable power. The original dev kits are underclocked, (for those none techy, running at less then they are capable) but Nintendo didn't show the games because they didn't look better then what was on 360. Only 2 games were shown at E3, Ghost Recon Online and Killer Freaks. The rest were tech demos. Remember, these 2 games looked far from spectacular in both gameplay and graphics, but these are the only 2 nintendo felt were worth showing. Wolf O'Donnell
...What if those were the only games Nintendo had developed for the console at the time? Supposedly, the new console has "significantly more power than the PS3 and Xbox 360", so why would Ghost Recon Online and Killer Freaks be the "only 2 nintendo felt were worth showing", unless they were the only games developed? Although Nintendo never likes to talk specs, its new HD Wii U could be up to 50% more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360. Its 1080p capability is thought to be on par with Xbox 360 and PS3, but according to Bhatia multiple developers have discovered Wii U's internals to be far more powerful than generally expected. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/307037/news/wii-u-50-more-powerful-than-ps3/360/ Edited June 17, 2011 by Wolf O'Donnell
Steve
I see it hard for nintendo, at this point, to GET the hardcore mass, on this generation, on games that are being developed for the ps3 or 360 as well, mostly because if there's nothing of an increase of quality (gfx) in a serious way, or an "exclusive for the Wii u" then it just doesn't matter, at all. The only thing I really see is Nintendo loyals (like me) getting a piece of the third party cake. From my point of view, to recapture the hardcore market, nintendo must release exclusives that appeal to....well hardcore gamers, not just the classic Marios and Zeldas, BEFORE the 720 or ps4 get out, maybe a whole new franchise. Then again, the definition of "hardcore" is biased. I will get the Wii U even without the third party support, mostly because I'm sure the next metroid,zelda,F-zero(you better...) and smash will be damn epic. About the console's power, some sources claim it's 50% more powerful than the ps3. While that's a good bump, I'm worried it's not going to be enough to last as "appeal" to, let's say, big third party support like EA when the 720 or ps4 get out, specially since they will raise the gfx bar again, considerably. Then again, Wii U would have been more powerful if nintendo hadn't chosen a controller with so many features. Even if we are only talking about a 40 bucks controller, compared to 80-100 bucks screen nifty controller, that's still money that would go to bump the console's power. EDIT: Scratch the last paragraph, I just learned that the Wii U's current hardware is not final, so things might change
Prince Elite
They should expand the classic game lines, Star Fox needs a sequel, Twilight Princess needs a sequel. Maybe they're listening. Nintendo, o omnipotent one hear our plea. Come on let's go find them *looks behind chair* are you here? *opens bag* here? no. Oh well, sequels, need 'em. and the Wii 2 should be the one to carry it out
