Team Fortress 2 UBER Update

New Team Fortress 2 update ships this week. Looks like we have some good new guns, including a good knife/revolver for the spy, a good ninja minigun, and a secondary shotgun that's actually kind of good for the heavy. That's just day one. I'll keep you guys posted!

Oh, and Meet the Medic.

The Heavy items all make me happy and I know for damn sure DZ's gonna be complaining that the new revolver is OP after about 2 game nights of me using it. :troll:

While I like most of the new weapons made, I think I'd rather stay with my "Mayu Amakura" minigun, GRU, Sandvich, "Razorback" Ambassador, my Eternal Reward and my Cloak & Dagger although I'll expect my Ambassador to have competition with the new revolver...

"+40% clip size"

40% of 6 is 2.4. So, 8.4 rounds per clip?

Rounding requirements aside, I think it is largely useless given the damage reduction unless you suck at aiming shotguns.

Also, that new spy gun is great for the Combat Dead Ringer spy. I don't think it is OP ATM. I've actually felt the spy to be a little underpowered in direct-combat.

I'd like to see an incendiary shotgun for the pyro. I think some middle ground between the default shotty and the flaregun would be a nice thing. It'd be great for the stealth puff-n-sting and reduces the Pyro's vulnerability to weapon heckling from pesky scouts.

The knuckles may actually be, but that shotgun seems like it might be worth something. Probably not over the sandvich but I see it being nothing but a straight upgrade. Sides that, it looks cool.

Tomidlav is looking like a very viable option. It revs near instantly and makes no noise. On top of the obvious stealth heavy support, it's fast rev means there'll be almost no time between being vulnerable and ready to fire. In practice, I think, the firing rate will only make a difference against other heavies.

In other words, it'll become your most favorite thing ever since pre-nerf Natascha.

The Knuckles are basically just the Scout's bat for Heavy.

Let's speculate!

The Bazaar Bargain is cool. It rewards good snipers and makes bad snipers even worse. Although really, a good sniper was the last person to need help.

The Shahanshah is also good, potentially more all around useful than the bushwacka, just those crit kukris from across the map are sure to be even more bullshit now.

The Splendid Screen is a more offensive targe with less passive damage resists. No comment.

Persian Persuader is a straight bottle upgrade. It becomes even more powerful with the targe equiped. Honestly, the healing off of ammo thing didn't need to be there, as you know that's why everyone's gonna use it. Unleeeeeess this means the demo has no way of ever recovering ammo.

Ali Baba's Wee Booties are a charge and tard's wet dream, especially if they use eyelander because then they get a huge HP boost.

I think I kinda don't like the new Sniper rifle for the Sniper class although I'm pretty decent at sniping (U MAD? :troll:) but I might give the new sword a shot.

As for the Demoman...I can't say anything about the new shield, I might give the new sword a try as well (Though I stick with either my "True Dragon Sword" or Scottsman Skullcutter) but I don't think I'd would use Ali Baba's Wee Booties.

SNIPER OF ARABIA. YES.

Also the Demoman's sword I'm pretty sure means NO AMMO RECOVERY except for probably resupply cabinets. the boots though... I'm geussing they're like the gunboats and replace the Stickygun? But then the Shield can't be used... unless the boots replace the grenadelauncher, making you a Demoless Demoman. Derp.

ALSO THERE IS THIS:

Milky, you're dreams of doing amazing FaN jumps while still being a viable fighter are here. Or you can use the new bat and the FaN and fucking quadruple jump.

I miss TF2. Related to the new sniper rifle, I remember seeing that some time ago as just a skin on FPSBanana. I love that Valve will look at good skins and make 'em official weapons. Also, I love that there will probably be more headshot snipers. Reason I didn't snipe that often is because it was so ingrained in me to headshot only (To the point that I felt like I failed more if I got a lethal bodyshot than if I missed, which is not the mentality to have in TF2), whereas someone more inclined to TF2 will think, "Oh, enemy sniper, a bodyshot ought to take care of him," and I die to a gut shot. I didn't mind dying to a headshot, it was just the body shots that got me. Mostly because I could not do the same intentionally with out making a concious effort to avoid aiming for the head. Now however, I hope to see more headshot snipers.

Pistol seems kind of eh to me, really. Scoot already has low ammo reserves, and this pistol has even less.

I AM FULLY EXPECTING JUMP SHENANIGANS.

Atomizer+FaN= SPAAACCCCCEEEEEEEEE

Atomizer looks great for the mobile scout, but you won't win any fights with it.

I am willing to bet that the FaN jump won't stack with the atomizer. This brings back memories of the Heavy with GRU + Steak Sandvich.

The Soda Popper is interesting. Run-and-gun scouts will be very dangerous with it, but those that don't run all the time will find it useless, as it is basically the FaN without the damage boost or knock-back.

The winger looks useless.

Individually, the new demoman items are useless, save for the new shield. But together, they will make one hell of a demoknight. Maybe even OP demoknight. At least the Pyro can still stop them with an airblast followed by a puff-n-sting.

I'm guessing the shoes replace the pipe launcher, so someone wearing the set will not have ranged attacks.

Though the Splendid Sheen sure as hell makes the Chargin' Targe obsolete despite having half the fire/explosive protection.

The shahanshah is useless, as is the new sniper rifle.

Sadly, judging by the beta, I sense an equalizer nerf coming where they either remove the speed boosts or damage boosts.

I find it fascinating how the guys at Valve are experimenting with different style for the characters.

But why make the Sniper with the Arabian Knights look and equipment?

More hats, less balence. Yay?

Acctually I'm posting here because people are pumped about their being a meet the medic. Isn't it weird that people are more excited for the trailer then the update?

I wouldn't say the new Sniper weapons are useless. The knife makes Sniper dangerous when his HP goes down, and the rifle rewards making headshots by charging the next one faster.

The Demorabian is just lolwut in my opinion. DEMOLESS DEMOMAN.

Its from the Polycount contest. The idea was Sniper is a nomadic wanderer who does jobs all over the world.

Also the Lawrence of Arabia theme comes from WWI, where Lawrence (a Brit) fought alongside the Arabs and even dressed like them. Also, the Turkish Janissary corps (ok Turks =/= Arabia but this is TF2 here) were the first sharpshooters in the world.

Oh, and about the "Made Man" thing and the Spy... Only a Sicilian can become a Made Man. The Spy's French. :/

TWO Soldier packs? Okay. I can deal with it.

Mantreads = goomba stomp and thus awesome. Oh and I guess sentries are less threatening too.

Riding crop = maaaaybe better than equalizer? Looks a bit like it. Hit a scout with it and whooooa wat. Also would help pocket medics tons.

---

Liberty Launcher has mixed opinions from me. Hell yeah faster rockets! Hell no lower clip size.

Reserve shooter is eh. On paper it sounds cool, but -3 shotgun blasts may be even worse than -1 rocket. It pays off with glorious minicrits and faster switch, though.

Market Gardener seems to pretty much suck. It's a cool idea, but using it over equalizer or disciplinary action is borderline trolling yourself.

Surprised at the stats. There are some soldier weapons in the beta designed for pocket soldiers, and I was sure the soldier weapons in this update would have their stats.

Oh, well.

Boots. Goomba Stomp! But is it worth giving up the shotty? I doubt it. Also, there is speculation that the reduced pushback may nerf rocket jumping.

Riding crop makes more sense if the equalizer nerf I expect to see happens. There are two nerfed equalizers in the beta. One only does the increased damage and doesn't speed you up, the other is the opposite.

Liberty Launcher: Basically the Direct Hit for people who can't aim the Direct Hit. Not worth the loss of a rocket, though. That's what I hate about the Black Box: After a rocket jump, you've only got 2 rounds.

Reserve Shooter: Meh... It's a nerfed Frontier Justice.

Market Gardener: Operation Market Garden went bad for the Allies, and this weapon is bad. You gain nothing by using it, but you lose a lot.
