Sabre
http://www.giantbomb.com/news/that-new-smash-bros-game-iwata-mentioned-that-doesnt-really-exist-yet/3411/ TL:DR? Smash Bros was announced at E3, that was the first time developers have heard of it. Not only that, they have a full plate for years. Add in the news that the Wii U is barely above PS3 levels of power and things aren't looking good.

Guest Mr. Nintendo
I won't be getting my hopes high just yet since: 1. Sakuri hasn't even considered making another Smash Bros. game 2. With the development of Kid Icarus: Uprising, it will be a long time for the next SB game to be released. 3. If the next SB game takes awhile to be made and the such, I would not want it to be like Duke Nukem: Forever. (Waz that? You waited 13 years for a bad game to come out and you had your hypes up for it? HAHAHAHA)
Deploy
1. Sakuri hasn't even considered making another Smash Bros. game Then why did he go on stage and tell everyone that he's considering making a new SSB? Because he is. And I hope it turns out good whenever it's released.

And I hope it turns out good whenever it's released. Erm, no, that's the point. Back at E3, Iwata said it was happening. Sakurai has just said in an interview "First I heard of it." Famitsu asked "But it's coming soon right?" Sakurai said "No. We're kind of busy, for years. If you're waiting for a new smash bros, you've got a long long wait." ThePointingMan
I second Deploy, I'm willing to wait! I'm sure it'll happen! eventually... But that's kinda weird that he'd say it's coming at a time like this.
Guest Mr. Nintendo
I'm willing to wait! I'm sure it'll happen! eventually... And then the next Smash Bros. trend will happen on the internet with the same deal as HL2: Episode 3 or HL3. "Everytime you make a joke about *something Nintendo wouldn't like or would find it offensive*, then Nintendo delays the next Smash Bros. game by *Number of days, weeks, months and/or years* !" "Nintendo is trolling us, they're not making Smash Bros. 4... : ( " And that is why I think Valve and Nintendo would make such great trolling buddies together. Deploy
Why WOULDN'T they make a SSB 4, Mr. N? It sells MILLIONS every time and is always a best seller. It'd be like canceling the Zelda series before Skyward Sword comes out. Super Smash Bros.- 5 Million Super Smash Bros. Melee- 7.9 Million Super Smash Bros. Brawl- 9.48 Million
Guest Mr. Nintendo
I never even said "SSB4 is gonna get canceled", I just said that "I wouldn't get my hopes very high on it." (There is a difference) And just because the Super Smash Bros. franchise is a best-seller and a money maker to Nintendo, it doesn't mean Nintendo WILL automatically make another title, even if it's a very well-known franchise like almost all their franchises. (Almost, not all.) For a franchise like SSB, it takes a BUTTLOAD of time for Nintendo to think of what will the fans like, how it will appeal to them and developing the game...that is why Sakurai said in the interview "If you're waiting for a new Smash Bros, you've got a long long wait." <-- Sounds like a Starfox sequel there Also, lolwut at cancelling Zelda before Skyward Sword. Milkyway64
Touche. Veeeerrry touche. However, I want a 2D installment that's not linear like Fusion and to a lesser extent Zero Mission. Or at least 2.5D. New Super Metroid or something.

Fureox
SSB is one of those games, like many, that should NOT be rushed.Hopefully it will be worth the wait. Brawl certainly was.
Dublinthefox
Well, there goes the whole "Get Krystal into Smash Bros. 4" petition. And I was so looking forward to seeing new characters and different forms of gameplay.
DZComposer
So much damn pessimism in here. You know, they did the exact same thing with Brawl. Iwata went on stage and announced Brawl before it was started on as well. Seeing as there is history of this here, saying "there is no SSB4" is ridiculous. Especially when Nintendo bigwigs announced it. Nintendo isn't stupid. They said from the start that it wouldn't be a launch title and that they had to finish other things before they could work on it. Projects can be re-shuffled, or Nintendo could even develop it without Sakurai (though I think that would be a mistake). It may be a 2nd or 3rd year title, but that doesn't mean it isn't coming. I don't know where you 2 are getting those ideas from. We are not saying it will never happen. Just it will likely be a very long time, and people hoping for this to be Nintendos killer app should expect it to come to late to matter. Mr Nintendo summed it best with the episode 3 comparison. It's also worth noting that PS4 and whatever MS is doing will likely be out by that point. Given this is the only announced, non-tech demo game that the hardcore are into and it's not looking good for Nintendo. So yeah, pessamisim justified. Even if you take the ultra possative "The world runs on love and unicorn farts" type view, then Smash bros is a good game that is likely half a decade away. Star Fox Runner
DZ voiced my thoughts word for word. It'll come eventually, just be prepared to wait for a long time if necessary. Especially since it's going to both WiiU AND 3DS. And in terms of the pessimism for the WiiU, it just got announced, there isn't any grounds to write it off just yet. People thought the same thing about the Wii and look at what a phenomenal success that was. We'll just have to wait and see, it could be wildly successful, or it could be a massive flop. The future isn't set in stone.
