Your Internet Speed

Yeah, "User" is right. Your internet download speed is actually your maximum download potential. If you were downloading some data stream from a server that can't go faster than 1MB/s, well... you won't download faster than 1MB/s.

Of course, smart networking allow several simultaneous connections between a server and a client, but well, you get the point.

Oh, and something I wonder is whether this speed counts the amount of signal downloaded or the amount of data downloaded. Might be interesting to evaluate the SNR of your connection! :D

Here's the TF2 Server's speedtest (without TF2 running):

Sorry guys, you can't blame the network lag on the server. lol

If it's a server, shouldn't be uploading more than downloading? :o

I laughed out loudly when I got my result. Not entirely unexpected.

I probably have the strongest computer of all the members here at the moment, but also probably the slowest internet connection.

I'm on someone's wireless network. I didn't hack into it. I asked my lanlords if I can use their wi-fi. lol. Terribly slow. Looking forward to have better internet later on though.

Here's mine. Although I don't believe I'm slower than Half Venezuela. I think mine's fast (Internet's not really at the greatest right now nationally either)...

My university firewalls-out speedtests, so I have no clue how fast it is. My guess is somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 megs.

Should I try running my own TF2 server? :troll:

But now that we upgraded to Gigabit ethernet here on floor. Probably implement IPv6 here soon also, but We are moving to 2 gig trunking in a bit. Just going to take a few weeks. But then again, this is with just me on the connection, no one else is on the switch and other things since all the students have not moved in yet, so it will probably drop soon once people start connecting.
