Sabre
Long story short, because my art guys have been unreliable, I have decided to do my games art myself, and decided to do it pixel style since I'm not good enough for the style I want. Anyway, I have the same sprite work in progress, (no visable gun atm) but I want opinions on something. So, which is better? Black outline http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6017458/ or Shaded outline http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6017448/
Xortberg
If it's going to be this small, black outline for sure. Adding in shading without enough room to make it look good just makes it look blurry, IMO. Of course, this might be because I'm looking at a larger version, instead of the actual size that'll be in the game. Also, my spriting experience is minimal, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Robert Monroe
Nonshaded looks infinitely better. Its crisp, its clear, and it looks good. Less is more, ect.

Nope.
I like the one with the black outlines. EDIT: Because it's more easy to see. The other one looks... blurry.
LoneWolf
Hey, I do some spriting as well. The reason those might be a bit blurry is because you have to scale them using nearest neighbor to a multiple of the original number, otherwise pixels get offsetted. Then save it as either a .gif or .png. Otherwise it's going to look all mucky. Spriting's hard, especially from scratch. Good luck, man.
Asper Sarnoff
I find the one with black outlines to be the better one.

I'm going for png so that I can have any colour I want and transparency.

kkstarfox
The top link is more crisp and easier to tell what it actually is.
