Allow me to preface what I say with this: having not animated anything before in my life, this is undoubtedly better than anything I could make. Also, I understand that, this being your first fight scene, you do have a lot of room to improve. Now, on to the criticism.

First off, your overall character design needs work. Of the things I noticed, the flaw that stands out to me the most is that the legs on both characters were like friggin tree trunks compared to their thin bodies and arms. I suggest you work on your drawing skills in general, getting proportions right and making your humanoid characters look much more believable and realistic.

Also, your movement was very simplistic, and much of it was unnecessary. The vast majority of it was just the legs moving back and forth, and that never stopped. I seriously doubt any two people are going to be able to maintain a steady, unbroken pace while fighting. The fact that they never stopped moving just hurt the whole thing overall - instead of them running a marathon, make the movement more sporadic and make more sense. If I was standing there with a sword and shield, I'd hunker down beside the shield and only move when it was to my benefit, or something to that effect. Having them run continuously helped to tear down what little immersion was there. Also, make your movements less robotic and more natural looking. The legs were like two rods just swinging back and forth, and the sword swings forcibly reminded me of old action figures and such. Learning to draw better overall will help with this, as you'll understand much better how movements look when you're more familiar with the human - or whatever you draw - body.

Thirdly, your environments need much work. Instead of just throwing together a stock backdrop and ground and looping them all the time like you did, keep it contained to something more workable and put more detail into what is there. I felt like I was watching the Flintstones. Draw good, detailed environments and have the characters interact with them instead of keeping them as backdrops or whatever.

So yeah, lot of room to improve, but I think if you work on those main points you'll get a whole lot better.

Well I'm glad you all enjoyed what I've been able to do so far as a fight scene animator. ^^
