Psygonis
That's an interesting development. The comments are technically more detailed though, it helps putting names and numbers of the facts! I do believe that would be a huge work, not only to deliver a dedicated stable and efficient gaming interface of regular PCs and assuring backward compatibility. And I concur with the article when they say that would it that would be abandoned first.
Wes
I heard about this last night. Apparently there is Xbox related things in the Windows 8 kernel.

kkstarfox
It would diminish there presence in the video game community to me. I play games on a console for a purpose, because i find it hard to play anything on the computer. But it would be a convenient thing to have i guess. Psygonis
Well I do think they would still release a gaming platform, but it would run Windows 8. So you could play games and use it as a regular computer/media center. Likewise, people having PC would be able to play these games on their Windows 8 computers I guess. Guest Mr. Nintendo
I wonder what's next, Nintendo announces a PC that can play Wii U games? Nuh-uh. Not sure what Microsoft's idea of this is but I don't see anything positive about it other than I guess they want us to forget about their consoles and play their Xbox + Xbox 360 games on PC. Wes
I play games on a console for a purpose, because i find it hard to play anything on the computer I want an explanation to this. By the way, I don't think you're going to be playing Xbox games with a mouse and a keyboard. I'm assuming you'd have to connect a Xbox controller before playing. Not doing so would give you a HUGE advantage over people using a controller. I believe Microsoft tried doing something like this before. They tried making it where console gamers and computer gamers could play together. It ended up being a complete failure. Skilled console players didn't even stand a chance against mediocre computer players. EDIT I don't have the article atm, I'll post it later if I find it. kkstarfox
I want an explanation to this. Umm, I play video games on a system because its easier, i dont have to constantly update software/ hardware to play the newest game, that and I just done like playing games with a keyboard and mouse, just not my thing. Video games are just plain more fun on a console.

Besides, like I said, point-and-click adventures are best played on a computer, and I prefer them on a computer. That's an excpetion.

Psygonis
kkstarfox> Most people never open up their computer to update its components. Like with a gaming platform, when it's outdated, they buy a new one. Deploy> Well, except Goldeneye 64 and Perfect Dark on N64, FPS are best played with a mouse and keyboard I think. Sophisticated games too, when a lot of commands need separate buttons (I'll call X-Wing vs TIE Fighter because I'm an old geezer, but well... Would you imagine playing this at its full potential with less than 10 buttons? ). Strategy games also, and the list goes on... I'll never argue that platform/sports/piloting games are best on PC. That's the kind of things you need to steer with your thumbs, I completely agree! In the end, it depends on the range of games you play! :D

Nope. Video games are just plain more fun on a console. All you need is a computer with a "mh-okay" processor, but a high-end one is always better. Changing hardware is actually done a lot less frequently than you think. A good videocard, for example, can last for of years and years of games before becoming totally obsolete. Also, computer games have graphic settings and are tweakable from their configuration files. Oh, and mods...
Fox-Shot
The only problem I see here is that from now on, any game that would've been Games for Windows will now be 360 exclusives. Not saying it will, but I think the amount of money to be saved may cause it in games that aren't very caring for PC gamers.
