Starwing_93
It's a tough one for me, I love Melee as it's the game that convinced me to buy a gamecube and is amazingly fun to play, but in the grand scheme of things Brawl is probably a more polished game with a wider range of features to give it appeal. The only thing that annoys me about Brawl is the controller, I just can't get away with using the Wiimote and if my Gamecube controller isn't available I'm not on top of my game So for me it's Brawl with Gamecube controller > Melee > Brawl with Wiimote > SSB 64. I do like 64 don't get me wrong, but like Milky said the sequels basically took the core gameplay from the original and not only improved the controls and graphics but also added a ton of cool new features to increase the appeal. It's pretty much an evolution :D

sjrathbun812
The Final Smashes aren't really that big a deal lol. In fact, they're fun to dodge, and it takes a bit of skill to do so. The landmaster really isn't that hard to dodge... just stand on the barrel and when they start to shoot, jump in the air. If they try to fly up and kill you, just jump off the tank... when it comes back down, repeat, if it isn't gone by then. Umm, if they couldn't shoot you when your on the tank's barrel, then they'd roll. That would make the other person fall off, and then you could easily shoot them from there. The other thing is that when they're lifting you up in the air, they quickly go off screen, and you usually can't just jump off because the landmaster is like a big platform; it's usually to late and you get taken off the screen. Especially when your a slow character. The only time when it's hard to kill people with it is when they get in a tiny crevice, and the landmaster can't squeeze through. kkstarfox
Meh, they were all good games but still Melee seemed to do everything better than The N64 version then added more crap and make the game play better. Brawl however, aside from the new story mode and online play (which would be expected since its a next gen game) it didnt seem to add anything for me. IT was like a windows update, sure more content but that doesnt necessarily make it better.
Steph McCloud
Deffinitely Melee for me. N64 was pretty good too but not nearly as fun or good of a game as melee. Brawl seems like a pretty decent game but I dont own it and havnt played it enough to favor it over melee

If they start to roll just jump in the air The tanks don't fly up THAT quickly, even if it is Falco's landmaster, you can still react the same. If you do happen to die, it doesn't mean the final smashes are unfair, you just should have gotten it before your enemy, or perhaps you should have done something different to survive. That doesn't mean pure smashing isn't fun, I love to turn off all items and duke it out, I'm just saying that final smashes really aren't as bad as you all say. Depends on who gets them. Captain Falcon grabs a Smash Ball? You're probably safe. Sonic? You're probably screwed. They're hoooooribly unbalanced and they break the game. ThePointingMan
It's like doing melee only tf2, melee is completely unbalanced, but you do it cause it's fun (Until you get people who restrict everything like, no charge n targe no this no that, then it becomes less fun but more balanced) something doesn't have to be balanced to be awesome. Also, as far as the best final smash, I'd have to go with Wario's, that thing is killer o_O
Tailsz
I really didn't feel a difference between Melee and Brawls controls. Although when you switch from Brawl to Melee the controls are less accessible then Brawl. I also like how Brawl doesn't force you to use one controller. You can use the GameCube, the Wiimote, the Wiimote+nunchuck and the Classic controller. Whatever fits your style.I personally like the Wiimote by itself. Easy to use. I don't find the Final Smashes to be that unfair- A lot of them are fun to dodge. It's like a quick time event. (I do enjoy a good "What was that thing that just passed by my head?") My friends turn it off since I'm always the one who either gets it or dodges the attack. XD My vote goes with Brawl for accessibility, content, and overall fluid gameplay. Tailsz
Pikachu's final smash with the practice I've had. I still have huge problems dodging this with a Lv. 9 Pickachu. XD The bot proves that thing can turn on a dive.

Sonic is the reason Final Smashes are banned from competitive play. Okay, he's not the only reason, but a skilled Sonic player can get at like, two kills on the same opponent. Without much difficulty. It's utterly OP.

And i personally prefer the Game Cube controller. mabey we can brawl sometime, i need as much practice as i can get.....ony have....GAH! I ONLY HAVE 3 DAYS! and i havent practiced in ummmmm 5 days.....so i need to. Lvl. 9's are waaaaay to easy, need more of a challange

Geo Stelar
I liked Brawl because it brought in new characters (Meta Knight, Sonic, Snake, Toon Link, etc) Let me put it this way... If Melee had the final smashes and the added character roster from Brawl, it would be the best.
