Electronic music

As I've mentioned before, I'm picking up DJing. I just recently did a mix, which is available for free download here. Password is "testmix"

Though it isn't perfect, I'm also very new to DJing, and don't have any physical hardware for mixing, so it was all done digitally, live. I encourage you to give it a listen.

EDC Las Vegas was last weekend.

Looks like it was a good show.

Also, doing my first DJ gig next Monday. Doing an outdoor house music set for the local high school and middle school. My own idea. Currently I have one set tracklist (mentioned in a previous post), and going to improvise my second half. It's going to be a blast.

However, I would like you guys' feedback as far as music goes. What makes you want to get up and move to the beat?

Well, today was my DJ muckabout at the beach. It was loads of fun, got to drop some big songs and play around with two 18" subwoofers.

Also, because I could, I planked on one of them. I do not reccomend this, it feels like being punched in the gut and kicked in the balls during the bass drop.

Random bro in background photobombing, disregard.

What kind of gear do you have set up on your rig, if you don't mind me asking (bit of an audiophile)?

Well, the Kiwanas club here sponsored the event, so we had a Fender Passport 300 Pro for our treble, then a pair of 18" floor subs rented from the local music store, however I don't remember what brand. I'm on top of one of them them in the picture. The Passport has it's own Amp, but we also got an amp on loan from the store, which was actually a pretty beefy amp.

Then on the software and mixing side, I had my Dell XPS M1530 with Virtual DJ Home Free (I don't have very much money), which ran into a Roland UA-4FX USB sound card. I ran RCA outs into our mixer, which was was a Behringer UB1002FX.

Overall, it sounded good, we could've done with a bigger amp for both the speakers and the subs, but oh well, we managed to pull it off for free.

Also, good to know there's more audiophiles on here. I need audio quality like an addict needs drugs.

Alright guys, got some big tracks for you guys today. Many of these are found on The Hype Machine, a site that collects music that has been posted on blogs around the world, and sorts it by popularity. A really cool site.

First of all, an unreleased gem from the Bloody Beetroots, set to release on June 26th: http://hypem.com/track/1n096/The+Bloody+Beetroots+-+Rocksteady+%28RIP%29

Second, a free remix by The M Machine of "Take A Walk" by Passion Pit, which can be found on their site here. http://www.passionpitmusic.com/home

Lastly, I've got some various fun stuff for your earholes:

Please excuse the double post. Found this one today. Dark sound, heavy and hard beat. What's not to love?

Picked up Netsky's new album "2" last weekend. Absolutely fantastic, with great tracks across multiple genres. Big hits like "Give and Take" are on the album:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiB3LMdWpjQ

As well as lesser known gems like "Puppy"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU4cnelEdi4

Overall, I'd give the album a solid 8.5/10, since some of the tracks like "911" and "Squad Up" seem to be the low points of the album. Still, it's worth your money to go pick up and is availible in MP3 Download, CD, and Vinyl forms from the stellar DnB label Hospital Records's store here: http://shop.hospitalrecords.com/product/NHS213/

Or iTunes here: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album//id529197872

Those have some nice atmospheres Rusheo.

I was browsing Reddit and wound up here. It's a drum and bass page with links to other genres of electronic music in addition to DnB subgenres. So I looked at the subgenres and found a page about neurofunk! Yay! And on it I (re?)discovered this:

Also, I really like this topic. I'm glad to post videos featuring electronic music and generally gush over electronic music with people who think it's more than "just techno".

In relation to Neurofunk, the Motorstorm Apocalypse Soundtrack by Noisia is absolutely fantastic, and is free off of their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/noisia/app_389514974442774

Here are my two favorite tracks:
