Sabre
So, the remake of thundercats starts later this week. I remember the original series, but was suprised to learn it still holds up. The trailers have been shown and apparently it's not crap. Again, I stress that the show hasn't been shown yet, but if we go by the trailers they are at least putting effort into it. Gene Inari
Makes me wonder how many adults are going to watch the show with their kids purely for the nostalgia factor. :U
Xortberg
I never actually watched Thundercats. Heard it sucked ass. Then again, so did the old MLP cartoons, so I suppose I'll give this new incarnation a shot.
Sabre
Makes me wonder how many adults are going to watch the show with their kids purely for the nostalgia factor. :U Alot I'd imagine, although it's more anime, less western this time around. Also, other that MLP, there hasn't been much worth watching cartoon wise over recent years. I never actually watched Thundercats. Heard it sucked ass. Then again, so did the old MLP cartoons, so I suppose I'll give this new incarnation a shot. I don't know who told you that. It's remembered as one of the classics. Xortberg
I don't remember who told me either. Eh, either way, I'll be watching this new one, so we'll see.
kkstarfox
THUNDER CATS! Oh, I loved that show as a kid. And chetara she was something... Definitely going to see about watching it if they are remaking it. Awesome cartoon.
Gene Inari
I never actually watched Thundercats. Heard it sucked ass. I think it was less crappy, rather it was just hilariously over the top with its Good vs Evil heroics and "knowing is half the battle" stichkt that all the cartoons back then were doing. Like, it's the "so bad it's good" kind of bad. :b

Definatly a clear cut case of good v evil though, and it has some really goofy moments and plot holes. eg. Slyth and the rest of the bad guys all lead massive armies, but they don't use them because ... I don't know.
Dublinthefox
I'm intrigued on how this is gonna be different from the original. Not just in terms of artwork and voices but in writing. I've seen the preview and I think the artwork and animation look great. There even using the original look of Mumm-ra. Also from the preview it sounds like Lion 'o's father is voiced by the original Lion 'o voice actor, Larry Kenny. I just hope that this show doesn't become the worst thing to ever happen to the franchise. Cross your fingers everybody.

Also there are a few reviews for the series out there. I haven't read them myself but from what I've heard they've been positive. I could post one after reading it. Edit: ah heck, I'll just post one now: http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/38230/thundercats-gets-off-to-an-inspired-start
Rusakov
I just watched it a few minutes ago. It was pretty epic. And Snarf isn't as annoying as he was in the 80s series.
CrypticQuery
Found a good retrospective on the original show by Cinemassacre; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brDmyExbORA&feature=feedu Looks like I'll have to check out the newer one sometime , though I personally would've preferred SWAT KATS
Sabre
Just watched it. It is fantastic. Assuming they can keep this up it's going to be a classic. It's also good to good guys who aren't all good, bad guys who aren't all bad (their cause is just imo, and its a refreshing escape from the 'born evil' of most shows) as well as a tech v mystsism message that doesn't strawman one or the other. Tech is used for evil, but their magical beliefs aren't much better.

I'm glad to hear this; it seems that cartoons are regaining their stance as definite entertainers! Hopefully I'll be able to catch an episode soon ^^. Out of curiosity, how's the animation style?; from what I've seen it looks distinctly Japanese.
Sabre
Yes, the animation is anime esc. The accents are definatly American, especially the irritating kids. It's good, detailed and very consistent with few exceptions. 2 scenes that I won't spoil stood out for being low quality, but it's nothing that blows you out of your seat, and are fairly acceptable, especially when compaired to other shows. CrypticQuery
[Edit: Sorry for the double-post, I didn't realize I had posted already ] Just watched the first episode in its entirety; I must say it blew my expectations out of the water. Sure, it started off a bit slow, and the animation, to my displeasure, is DISTINCTLY Japanese-anime stylized, but as I continued to watch I was drawn farther and farther in. The action definitely picked up toward the end, and I was disappointed that it ended so soon! I never thought it was possible, but Thundercats is certainly one of the best things (not counting reruns) on Cartoon Network at the moment if not THE best. The only problem I really have is that anime-styled animation; it seems as if no country but Japan can animate newer shows and look good while doing it; I really want some more traditional 2D animation out there. That, and though they're supposed to be cats, the look doesn't quite match the feline species all to well, at least IMO. And the only animation hiccup I could see was the re-use of two to three short battle scenes minutes apart from each other. It was somewhat jarring, especially since it happened three times. All in all, I'm impressed .

I don't have a problem with western anime style given that anime style is an evolved version of ripping off the west, I don't see the problem. And yes, the mechs toward the end did look quite out of place; the first thing I thought of after seeing them was this;
