DZComposer
Looks like I was right, Bloomberg is reporting that Nintendo is now taking a loss lead on the 3DS.
Fluxy
I personally would more prefer my $80, to be honest, because I really don't need twenty free games. Either way, this was easy to see coming partially too for myself. It just is too high a price, sadly, for people to pay for a hand held, that also won't have heavy/hardcore game play like Sony or Microsoft. Either way, they better get me my twenty games soon. I dunno ten NES games I want, but damnit, I will get anything to make up for this huge loss. lol

CrypticQuery
Metal Gear, Resident Evil, etc. aren't hardcore? It probably relates to Nintendo's past of mostly shovelware with some first-party titles thrown in. That, and weren't both games delayed?
Sabre
It probably relates to Nintendo's past of mostly shovelware with some first-party titles thrown in. That, and weren't both games delayed? Yep. Pretty much every hardcore game has been either delayed or canceled. Also, Resident Evil looks cool, but Metal Gear is a re-release. Mario Kart is just another Mario Kart. There lies the problem. Everything is either bad, just another re-release, or just another Nintendo series being milked. The few that aren't (Resident Evil) are not worth the £240 (£200 for the machine, £40 for the game). The wii was a huge hit, no question, as was the DS, but both died in the eyes of the hardcore gamer because they settled for releasing nothing but crap, and casuals have angry birds on their iCrap. People are not going to get suckered in. There needs to be games on it. Yet another Mario Kart or Zelda re-release isn't going to cut it. (oh, they are doing Madura Mask apparently)
Fluxy
Deploy, when you can give me at least 30 hardcore original games that Nintendo has made, that aren't just re releases, then you can look at the practically HUNDREDS the other systems have, then we can talk. Two simple more mature games does not make a hardcore gamer smile, they want to be able to play lots of games they like on the system, thus not making it worth their while in the long run most of the time. =/

Sabre
Nintendo posted an official appolagy. Rumours of Iwata halfing his salary to show he's sincere are a bit weird, but this is Japan.
Guest Mr. Nintendo
I wouldn't be surprised if the 3DS in the end of the handheld war had the same fate as the Virtual Boy many years ago... Also, any idea where Nintendo posted an apology Sabre? Is it on their website?

Almost EVERY Mario Kart feels incredibly different. Nintendo is the best at making tons of sequels for franchises making them feel fresh if you haven't noticed. (Besides maybe Mario Party or something.) Super Mario Kart feels nothing like 64. 64 feels nothing like Double Dash. And Double Dash feels nothing like Wii. I disagree, but let's have it your way and say resident evil is as much as a fanboy milking rehash. That brings the total count of 3DS games that aren't crap or inferior versions of exsisting games/series to 0.

Star Fox Runner
Well, the outlook for the 3DS's survival does look grim indeed, but Nintendo survived the failure of the Virtual Boy, so this doesn't really mean that Nintendo themselves are in trouble. I'm excited for the idea of free GBA and NES games for early adopters. Sure I may already own most of the games they are offering, but they're free and I'll get them so that way I don't have to cart so many games and handhelds around at one time, plus I never got to play Yoshi's Island!
Fluxy
Deploy, honestly ask yourself if Resident Evil -truly- makes the 3DS perfectly worth wile for the majority of people who can afford this machine. Fan boys'll want it, sure. I got the 3DS for mainly two games, the SF one, and the Legend of Zelda one. That is because I am a fan boy. To most, one simple series on a handheld that is simple remakes won't make people wanna buy the 3DS. I know I have little to no interest in any other games out for 3DS, and still even so, I still fully believe it can't compete with Sony's possibility in gaming experience overall. With prices nowadays, people want as much as they can get, and what they want. With most gamers, 3DS is cool, but not as good for the time as Sony and Microsoft hardcore gamers. I wasn't even talking about if the the system's worth it. I was talking about franchises in general... I bought a 3DS already, but I personally think it'll be actually worth it late 2011 or early 2012.

Unless the Wii-U flops which looks somewhat likely; think about it. The hardcore audiences won't buy new hardware that matches the strength of their current platform(s), and the casual market will think that if they already bought a Wii they won't need another gaming machine. I hope Nintendo makes it out of their rut; I don't want to see them go like Sega. , but that's probably being a bit too pessimistic.

You also forget we are talking opinion and value for money here. To me Mario Karts are pretty much all the same (though the DS one is definitive imo) I like resident evil, but given that even with this price drop I can still get a PS3 with Uncharted and 2 Ratchet games for around the same money. Some of the appeal of Starfox is that they change. Yes, sometimes those changes are for the worse, but at least they try. I like CoD and Halo, I want more Halo so I will buy more Halo. They also know I'm right most of the time. Provided you will listen to evidence and reason, pessimisim is great. I think the 3DS is crap not because of the hardware, but because of the lack of games I want to play, and it seems most people agree if sales are anything to go by. If they release something great, I will change my mind.
