I personally think these look awesome, and I'd play the hell out of Equestria Online. If you don't like MLP, that's just fine, but don't sit there and slam stuff when you don't even know it's background. This stuff isn't even finished, there's plenty time and room for improvement. What? Are you really serious? Are you trolling or are you ignorant? I watched this show before it became a meme. While I haven't seen every episode, I know the show. I enjoied it before the meme came along and made it so I couldn't watch without reminding me of the annoiying shits who won't shut up about it. Let's be absolutly clear here. The show is NOT the problem. The problem is fanboyish behavior that exsists only because of the meme. In this case, labeling everything MLP related no matter how bad or irrelivent gets hailed as a work of genius. Take the fighting game for example. As someone who played a whole bunch of mugen back in the day, the fighting game looks nothing special, even sub par, even more so with the recent revival of the fighting game moving the genre forward. Yet it is presented as perfect, without critisim. "And could you possible do in that world, aside walking in the streets and eating apples?" as one post said. I mean, that's pretty spectacular that such a base like MLP generate such things in the fandom. People don't care Fighting is Magic is better than mugen mods and such. HTF was an hilarious show, but the fandom just watched and enjoyed it. It didn't made memes or much fan-made stuff from the official material. MLP is a phenomenon because of the fandom, the spoofs and so on and so forth... MLP and HTF are quite different also in their target audience, topics, format... These creations are not above discussion and criticism, that's not what I'm saying. They're not being hailed as perfect either, people are merely getting excited over them. My beef here was the way this conversation turned off topic onto an arguement between you and Xort, you calling Xort a troll for... what reason again? And then Xort lashing back. Sabre, you need to stop throwing the word "troll" around, because it just ruffles feathers. If simply putting MLP characters in the game is enough, then technically Resident Evil 4 and Half Life 2 are starfox games because you can download characters for them. The floor in that argument is that MLP is about Ponies, where as, in comparison, Starfox is just about space-furs. It doesn't matter who they are, if it's all ponies it's MLPony. ^ A mod' trolling. That gave me a good laugh. Now then, Sabre. I don't think no one here is saying it's perfect. People are just excited for it, because it is going to have 17 characters eventually, be competitive online with one of the best online communities out there, and give people the option to play as characters they like from the show. Granted it may not be as good as say, Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, but I own the first, and really don't care for the latter, and both have a distinct lack of Fluttershy. Not that I'd want to see Fluttershy in Mortal Kombat, mind you. Anyway, another good thing I like about the Fighting Is Magic game is that the majority of their work is to make the characters as balanced as possible. Granted I don't mind seeing things get mauled and butchered, depending on what the thing is, but for me to find it amusing there has to be more to the "joke" than just it getting mauled. Same way with Itchy and Scratchy, and Ren and Stimpy. The latter of which I only really enjoy two scenes, the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" song scene, and scenes with Powdered Toast Man. Still there are very identifiable characters in the show, all cuter than the other ones. And what's brilliant is how these little stuffed puppets always end up scattered all over the place in ever more original ways... Sabre Posted August 1, 2011 Share Posted August 1, 2011 Guess what. I was wrong. Turns out a MLP game could exsist and be good, sort of. I'll explain in depth in a moment This change of mind comes from a realisation I had today, and while some might try and ret-con their way out of this, it should have been brought up sooner. In short, MLP MMO exsists, but less pony style anthro, and more starfox style. It's called Animal Crossing Wild World. All you do is grow fruit, pick friut, give gifts and talk to people. However, the game series isn't big outside of japan so calling it good is a bit off. The Sims 2 DS and Animal Crossing DS also have similar gameplay but in a single player setting. The problem is Sims has conflict and is full of arseholes, and Animal Crossings appeal is this cutesy innocent world with really sisnister undertones. So not strictly MLP, but the core mechanics are there. I own both the DS games, and they are pretty dull. Sims 2 DS is at least funny, particulary the way you can milk cows for milk, but tipping them first gets you milkshake. Again, these worlds are entertaining at first due to how insane and sinister they are below the innocent facade. So, stand corrected on that point, although whether they are good is up for debate.
