I have my reasons for making this poll, other that just satisfy my curiosity. While handling a heavy new fandom around a forum, it's crucial to see how many members are following it, and how many members are not ok with it. We are not the kind of forum that would make you guys leave/delete the topics, which is why we are letting you guys have your 2/3 topics, all about ponies.

We COULD, however, ask you all to reduce the amount of pony random pictures in other topics, depending on how others react. But like I said, that's just a small countermeasure to keep everyone at bay and happy.

You guys currently have, a random happy/image pony topic on the rec room, a serious discussion about ponies on the counter point and some sort of game pony topic (we could just mod that one to be related to all kinds of games that are being made around FiM, I dunno)

Like I said, balance is certainly something I'm looking for :-)

I generally ignore them, but I'll admit this: I do think its a bit strange when people are more-active in pony-related here on "StarFox - Online".

That said, everything else is fine. I could care less about the pony-fandom since it never directly affects my activity on here (and when it does, its in the silliest, most insignificant ways: like those pictures with memes). I've even watched the first two episodes to try it out... just didn't hit the spot for me.

it should spread as much as the interest for it allows. If every member of SF-O ends up liking FiM, then what would be the harm of FiM stuff popping up in nearly every topic. Not derailing the topic, mind you, but using it for references and responses.

Remember a while ago when I was accused of being a drama whore and trying to ruin everyones fun when I expressed concerns about the video topic being overrun with memes and crap? Eventually my concerns came to pass. Just throwing that out there.

Ok, I hate this ponies meme more than anyone, but I have to call bullshit here. Why? Hypocrisy. In short, who decides what memes are allowed. Trollface turns up everywhere. DZ constantly posts TF2 related stuff. Why is one meme allowed and another is not?

Another thing is the problem you decribe is not the meme itself, rather the people who use it and the way that it's used. It's fine if-

"I watched MLP last night."

*posts brohoof meme*

but the problem is that it's used to derail, troll ect.

or

It's not about using a meme or not, it's about people complaining about it. If we use tf2 memes and no one has complained, then yeah, no need to bounce around the topic, if we use pony memes, and SOME people complain, we need to do something about it. If most of our population like FiM, then we can increase the amount of pony related stuff around, without making it annoying for those that don't like it (aka, why we have 3 topics about ponies now,excluding this one).

I'm not a troll face fan, but I'm probably amount the rare few that doesn't like it (I have ended up using it as well, so yeah), which gives me no right to say "eff the troll face, I don't like it, begone!". I'm ok with the tf2 random images posted, and I consider the FiM images a little bit overused around, but that's just me. However, having people complaining that the shoutbox gets full of pony stuff, or that topics get too many pony images, that's something else. This poll, however, is proving me otherwise and basically tells me that we are fine as long as no one exaggerates.

Derailing topics has always been an issue everywhere, so I don't see how that is relevant here.

At any rate, memes are allowed, and depending on how the population sees them, we manage to cope with some. DZ personally hates all the pony stuff, but he understands that over half of the population on SFO is crazy about FiM. I personally am ok with FiM, but I'm not fond of the craziness, so we are definitely not being biased or powerhungry here.

To be honest i dont care much for the show, but i dont mind if people watch it. But the image macros can and do piss me off sometimes when they just swarm a topic, and ponies have nothing to do with that given topic.
