Dew of mountains fuels guns?

Mountain Dew is one of those drinks that pops up alot when talking to americans, and as a bit of a fizzy drinks guy it's one I've wanted to try, recently I've seen people walking around with them, and a quick google search reveals they released it under the name mountain dew energy. Not sure if that's the original or not or where to get it though.

It has also been revealed they are 'bringing back' Halo Gamer Fuel under the name Modern Warfare Gamer Fuel. I heard of it being fantastic when they brought it out under the name WoW Gamer Fuel. Maybe they will bring it out here as well, but I doubt it. While it's obviously the same stuff with a different package, I find it weird they would have a gun themed drink. WoW I kind of get, but Halo and MW3?

If you want, maybe I'll trade you some irn bru and some dandelion and burdock. :P

Mountain Dew Energy IS NOT the same as the proper stuff, it's drinkable but not as nice. There are several regulations that stop the proper stuff from becoming mass Market in the EU, but some companies dedicate themselves to importing foreign confectionary, Cybercandy in London being one of the most well known.

Up here in Newcastle a shop called Shake-a-holic sells the proper American stuff, but no matter where you go expect to pay at least twice the price of your average can of coke for imported soft drinks. Oddly enough, Forbidden Planet has taken to selling Novelty video game energy drinks like Resi T Virus Antidote and Mario Power Up. They're OK but pretty much a gimmick for collector-ish types :P

That scares me. I drink lots of MD...

What is in it that the EU doesn't like?

I used to go there alot until a similar milkshake place opened in Sunderland.

I heard of a mana/health potion once, never bought it.

I too would like to know what eu doesn't like in it.

Maybe the maaaaaassive amounts of caffeine? That's really all I can think of that might warrant not selling it. I seem to recall hearing it has the most caffeine of any popular soda that isn't an energy drink. My dad had really bad issues a while back and stopped drinking Mountain Dew, and even went through like... caffeine withdrawal because of it.

Mountain Dew is awesome.

I also LOVE how caffeine doesn't effect me at all.

I could drink a Mountain Dew (or even 2 which I don't do often in a row) right before bed and still sleep fine.

I seriously doubt it doesn't affect you. Try to stop taking any in, I can guarantee at least a bit of unpleasantness.

I'm serious. It really doesn't, and I have no addiction to caffeine whatsoever.

I drink soda cuz it tastes good, but I could go with a nice, cold water just as well.

I don't need it to go through the day like some people. Like my step dad needs his morning cup of coffee every day or he gets a headache.

It can't be the caffeine. There's more caffeine in a cup of coffee than in an Mountain Dew. Though according to the source I read that, export MD contains no caffeine at all.

There's a heck of a lot more caffeine per ounce in coffee than there is in even the most caffeinated soft drinks, and that include energy drinks even.

Each person has a different tolerance level of Caffeine and withdrawal will affect some people more than others. I probably consume more caffeine throughout a typical work day than most of you do mainly through brewed coffee (which has a LOT more than a bottle of mountain dew) before and during working and I have no withdrawal symptoms if I run out for a few days.

"Heroin. It's incredibly moreish isnt it?"

Im with Xort in that it likely effects, but stranger things have happened, so I'm guessing it has a minor effect. You can hold your caffine in other words.

I doubt it is caffeine. Red Bull, Relentless and Monster Energy are pretty big over here and are basicly caffeine in a can.

I just brought up the caffeine because it's literally the only thing I can think of that might warrant the whole deal. Maybe the EU just thinks Mountain Dew sucks ass or something.

Oddly enough Xort you're partially right, proper Mountain Dew was sold in the UK for a short period in the mid 90s, It didn't last long however, and was discontinued due to poor sales. It definitely existed however around 1996 as my local Kebab shop still has a poster for it on one of the refrigerator cabinets.

There may be more problems but one of the food colourings used in Dew is banned over here, hence why our Mountain Dew Energy is a totally different colour to the proper stuff. I wouldn't be half surprised if there's trouble with some of the flavourings too, we're pretty uptight about chemicals and E numbers over here. No worries though, there Is definitely a demand for it and at least we have a product under the Dew brand that's reasonably nice so I guess it's OK, Just as long as my beloved import shops don't cave in then I can still treat myself every once in a while :D

I've had MD before. It has a nice taste, but the drink itself is a little thicker than what we UK people are used to in a soft drink.

You can get MD Energy from Tesco, at least here, and I got my regular MD from a small corner store that deals with US imports. They sold it for £2.40 a can but I was so curious, I decided to cough up the cash.
