DZComposer
I am thinking about throwing up phpbb3 Beta 1 on SFO as a testing platform as I'd like to play with it, but my forum gets no posts so.... I won't replace phpbb2 as phpbb3 is in beta and I don't want to deal with the potential issues. I want to evaluate if, when phpbb3 goes final, we would want to move this boad to it. I am thinking of launcing a phpbb3 beta 1 install here so that I can see how it works in an active enviroment. As for the rules, they would be far more lax than they are here. BUT, I don't want it to turn into too bad a spamnest so I will likely implement admin activation and only allow people who have been here a while and shown themselves to be good citizens to access it. Here is the featurelist: http://area51.phpbb.com/docs/features.html Please note, if I do this and you join this board, that it IS BETA SOFTWARE! The board could spontaniously crash and stuff and the database for it could get nuked, or it could get hacked into oblivion.
XG Fox
Or, alternatively we could always take a backup of everything here before we undergo such a change. ;>_> Just a thought. *takes backup anyway*
DZComposer
This would go into a seperate database and everything. I wouldn't upgrade the main forum to a beta 1 software.
XG Fox
So it would be like having an entirely separate forum?
DZComposer
Yes. But it won't be to the full scale as the main forums and the only people allowed to post on it will be those who have been members of the main forum for a while and have a good repuation that accept the fact that it is a beta forum. This is for evaluation purposes. Phpbb3 could potentially be released by the end of the year.
