Zzz
G-G-G-G-Gamescom! I was there, yup! I was there two days in a row and I STILL couldn’t get into everything wanted to see but it was kickass either way! Lemme sum up the impression arrrrrround all that games stuff…. TOO MANY PEOPLE ON SATURDAY ! It was hooooorrible, I can’t believe I was lucky enough to get into some hot games that day! But I did, thankfully so I shouldn’t complain. Anyway, how did it all start? Well…. Trying to get the red wristband to get into the mature areas. WHERE IS THE WRISTBAND DISTRIBUTION? After searching high and low I finally found a place but this old lady took way too long to get that I was over 18. Yes, I showed her my ID. After FINALLY getting my wristband I suddenly saw these booths everywhere. Isn’t that typical? : D : ) : I : / : ( >: O ANYWAY WRISTBAND AQUIRED! NOW ON TO SOME GAAAAMES! The atmosphere was incredible. It was great to see all the gamers and nerds at a place like this. Standing in line wasn’t that bad, but I was with some friends the first day and of course I need to be understanding. It was cool hanging out with them, tho, thanks guys! (In order I played/watched these games!) Far Cry 3: Stood in line for 30 mins to see a live demo. So I was sitting there with a bro and that lady is like: “PEOPLE! YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE SOME EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE OF FAR CRY 3!” I was rather pumped since I loved the presentation at E3. And what do you know? It was the same fucking demo. Actually, I believe it was the exact same video playing. Assholes… oh well! My friend didn’t get to watch it before so it was cool seeing his reaction to it. And I might as well tell you my feelings towards this demo. Again, I love the presentation. You feel the danger of this place right away because it seems so realistic. The graphics of course, but also the voice work and the dialogue! The gameplay is pretty cool too, however it looks too much like a console game. Your gun doesn’t have enough recoil and you can hit people in far distances. Oh well! Star Fox 64 for the 3DS: Awesome! I love it! I played it two times already, got a cool Fox McCloud pin thingie and kicked everyone’s asses! There was only ONE multiplayer level, which was set on Mecbeth. Again, I ruled. Can’t stress that enough haha Anyway, the 3d effect was really awesome! Everything felt natural and it’s easy to pick up and play! The only thing that really bothered me was that you have to use the D-Pad to perform somersaults, etc. I never really thought about it before…but it sucks that you have to use your left thumb to do this, because for a SPLITsecond you have to let go of the circle pad. It doesn’t feel fluent and I think I’ll be having problems with this at first. X and Y axes have been swapped in that mode, which really sucked. But other than that it was a great and awesome game! I was so happy to see you could play multiplayer with your friends there! Very awesome! Oh yeah and the cockpit view is gone! Uh…That Kid Icarus game: I played it for about 20 seconds and just dropped the 3ds. It’s shit. The Witcher version 2.0 for the PC: We watched several trailers and interviews in their cinema and it was a pretty cool presentation. Too bad there’s nothing I could like about this game. I got a huuuuuge ass poster for it tho…That’s cool, I guess. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Stood in line foooooor….45 mins I think? To get into their live demo cinema. It was fantastic! At first they talked a lot about the multiplayer and its functions. Seems like there’s a lot coming towards you, MW-fans! Interesting filters to find players in your area, school, college/whatever, incredible prices, quests, everything you can ask for! Call of Duty Elite seems like a great thing this time around! The presentation was rather long! We got into this big theatre and we watched a guy play the demo from the e3. Yeah…I was a lil disappointed at first but then it hit me! I was there in this really awesome cinema, watchin mw3 on the big screen with this awwwwwesome sound system. While I thought this first level was boring when I watched it on a livestream from the E3, this was incredible. Well after that they played a level which was part a train-chase. Please someone help me out, was this also form the E3? I couldn’t remember it but goddamn it blew my mind. Definitely fucking awesome. It would’ve taken me like..uh…4 hours to play it myself…and that sucks because I found out that it was the console version anway, when I was getting into the cinema. Because instead of just stand in line for that, you could see the players in the other room playing it. And I think it was the survival mode? Not really sure but it looked very …standard. Oh well… Mario Kart 3ds: Yeah, it was good. It was fun…but…oh well. It was kinda boring a lil. The 3d effect sucked and you might as well just turn it off. Or maybe it was because of the awesome 3d in Star Fox. Anyway, I couldn’t drift for some reason. The three courses looked cool but were rather boring as racing tracks. You can still fall off the tracks and respawn again but usually you are saved by your glider and your ship's propeller. I mean…it’s way too easy. But it’s fun nonetheless if you could play it in multiplayer, of course. We only got to play one short cup in single player mode and that’s a stupid idea…. Luigis Mansion 3ds: It was cool. I was really amazed by the graphics. The light effects were great, the controls were solid, the art direction was cool as well. But be warned. If you don’t like the Gamecube one, you won’t be happy with this game. There isn’t really much I could talk about I guess. I had very limited time to play it and I couldn’t use every function I think? Oh well, I liked it either way. Batman Arkham City: Yes. I stood in line for about 2 hours to play the xbox version. It.was.completely.BADASS! I loved the shit out of it. I was aware that it would be the same demo from the E3, but believe me…playing it instead of watching is a totally different experience. Everything feels very smooth. The combat is…can I say it? …PERFECT! The city looked badass and the art design in general was incredibly gorgeous once again. One thing that really surprised me….I actually prefer playing as catwoman! Her moves and everything feel sooooo much smoother when you are actually playing it! It felt so organic and it just made sense! Go watch a walkthrough of the demo if you haven’t seen the e3 version. Saints Row the third: Ok. So I saw this line standing in front of a small wall where it read SAINTS ROW. OK DAAAAAMN I NEED TO GO IN THERE! I saw these other guys coming towards it and I ran like a bitch. Finally made it there and this hooker was like: “ Ok, you can get in here, too! You others have to sit this on out!” I was so damn lucky! But..wait…a HOOKER? I turned around and YES! She was dressed like one and then there was this black guy in a pimpsuit! It was hilarious. So we sat down on the floor and saw this really amazing, hysterical live demo of a naked woman kickin ass on the street. People were laughing hard almost all the way through. What great show. It was very short yet sweet. But goddamn, the makers know it’s awesome themselves. The black commentator was like: “Well, I hope we could entertain at least SOME of you a LITTLE..right?” –everyone laughed and he asked: “Or who thought this kicked ass?” And everybody cheered. It was damn funny! Definitely my fav part of the Gamescom, even tho it was short. I’ll definitely get my hands on that game! Of course it was in the mature section and other than that little sign in front of the covered booth there was NO sign of the game. No screens with videos or screenshots. Dig a lil deeper, peeps! Sometimes it’s worth it! Mass Effect 3: Sorry…I didn’t get it. The line was tooooo long. You had to wait like 6 hours to get in. Which is really a shame, coz I would’ve loved to play the Multiplayer! Then they got these very cool posters! But you had to scream “MASS EFFECT” in a very bad German accent to get one. Ehhhhh….. a lil too embarrassing! Around evening there was this guy handing out these posters for free…HA! Wow…. Well I got those at least! Hanging on my wall right now Oh and if you think that screaming is bad just listen to the last thing I went in… Prototype 2: Ok…what the hell. You know..I don’t give a shit about Prototype. The first game was fun but it got worse and worse and that whole zombie-virus thing was just plain silly, imho. I loved the running and jumping tho. Anyway, I saw people getting out of the booth with these really cool looking blade things on their arms. And just for that I got in line. I mean…it was short…so 30 mins are totally acceptable. And the booth looked really cool. It was around that train wreck corner from Metro (which I didn’t get in, because FUCK YOU!), and it was kind of like an asylum I think? So the outer presentation was very nice. THE ONLY THING THAT SUCKED WAS THAT I HAD TO WAIT 2 HOURS TO GET IN! I don’t know WHAT happened but the guys told us it wouldn’t take long. Motherfucker. Anyway, we finally got in. The guys had some funny humour going on or some shit but I was too tired to laugh. At this point I only wanted to get that blade and get the FUCK out of there. Of course it’s not like that…. Only the five loudest people who would cheer at what was shown on the screen would get these things. Ok well…now…that sucks. Goddamnit! Anyway, I tried being loud but FUUUUUCK THIS GUY NEXT TO ME WAS FROM THE PRESS OR SOME SHIT LIKE THAT. This asshole looked like way too young to even get into the Prototype booth but damn. His voice. It’s still echoing in my ear. He was the MOST obnoxious guy I have ever heard. So I sat there in a booth of a game I don’t even really like, tired, knowing I won’t get my blade, this crazy boy next to me annoying the shit out of us, and I was watching. A.FUCKING.PRE-ALPHA.DEMO. You know what I had to witness? People running into things, car exploding in the background by just slightly touching other cars, animation spasm and the most over the top, yet boring gameplay on the gamescom. Shit. What a WASTE of good time. Well, the days had to end eventually so I couldn’t see everything. I mean I saw a looooot of games. It was fun! Some nice cosplay and the booths were cool looking and all the people were polite! Ok, you wanna know about the booth babes, huh? Oh well….so Katherine, F1 and NVidia had some nice lookin ones but other than that…meeeeeeh….not enough to see! I don’t care about them anyway, I want my VIDYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Any questions? DoctorAllosaurus
I must know about Dark Souls if it was even there. Also, do gamers actually care what the smell like over there? I went to some game convention once and there were some pretty foul smelling dudes.
