Rusakov
A few years ago I got the idea of trying to get a show called SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron into production again. For those of you who don't know the show here's a good site on it. Until last year I could only think about it, but I've been taking action since then. For example I emailed Christian Tremblay (who was a co-creator of the show) and he said that he was planning on bringing it back. In addition I've created a blog to help the cause. Currently I've been discussing with other people about making a letter writing campaign to Warner Brothers. Since WB owns the series then we thought that it might be a good idea to get their attention that one of the creators of the show wants to bring it back. One of us has already worked on a draft, but we're thinking about sending the actual letters around Christmas. Are any of you interested in helping out? Guest Mr. Nintendo
I haven't growned up with the show but...if it's one of those good cartoons that doesn't make you look like a fool or something, I hope this gets revived.
Psygonis
SWAT Kats... That sounds lovely! :
CrypticQuery
Definitely on board from start to finish; it's too awesome of a cartoon to be left with only 25 episodes! Here's episode 1 through Youtube if you care to give it a watch; (Embedding was disabled by poster, so click the link! )

Asper Sarnoff
Was a fan in my youth, and it would have been nice to see some new episodes. Thing is, that show is probably not correct enough in its politicaness...ess... Constant fighting, and aimed at a young audience.
DZComposer
Do you guys REALLY want one of today's studios to mess with a Hanna-Barbera classic like Swat Kats? I don't think today's studios could do it justice. Though, who knows. There may be a crappy live action movie some day, seeing as all of the HB gems are meeting this horrible fate. Flintstones, Scooby, Yogi, Smurfs, etc. I know the Jestsons and Johnny Quest were going to be hollywoodized as well. Though, if the Jetsons ever go live action: Danny DeVito as Cosmo Spacely or I will be hella-pissed.

There is indeed a double-edged sword when it comes to attempted revivals, but since the original co-creator is willing to work on it again I believe chances are a bit above average. Though honestly, I'd be happy with a complete DVD release with a decent set of special features unlike the Manufacture on Demand DVDs WBShop pulled down recently. Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted August 22, 2011 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted August 22, 2011 I wouldn't mind to see a revival. I remember coming home after school every day and sitting down to watch this show. I have all the episodes on my PC, Ipod, and I have the WB DVD as well.. It sucks though, cause the voice actor that played Dark Kat died, so they would have to hire a new voice actor or take him out of the series somehow.. Also keep in mind, I think the series got better after Season 1. I like the way the series was drawn, and the plots seemed to get a bit darker too.. For one, much like Fallout 3, any change from the classic will be hated by fans, but sticking to the classic will be hated by everyone else. That female rabbit from space jam (the name escapes me) was given a roll in the new series, but was changed to be more kid friendly and have a personality. There was debate among people over if this was a good thing. Assuming that rapid fanboy-ism doesn't cloud you're judgement. With MLP and Thundercats showing it can be done. There was also the turtles and biker mice revivals I never watched but heard they were pretty good in that they at least were on the level of the originals. As for the political corectness. I don't see it being a problem. True it's not the 'bad old days' anymore, but there are other action based shows. Burn Notice/Ben 10 I think would be the minimum level of voilence I think, which should be plenty for swat cats? I'm waiting for that rumoured Gargoyles revival. Owner/Technical Admin Sideways Posted August 22, 2011 Owner/Technical Admin Share Posted August 22, 2011 Lola Bunny, I think her name was. My GF will be excited if there is a new gargoyles revival, but she doesn't have tv to watch it. :/

It's more correct than other shows of the era IMO; there was a minimal amount of violence that could actually be imitated, whereas Hanna-Barbera was famous for its slapstick!

Not to mention the fact that recent cartoons have violence similar to that in SWAT Kats. I'll probably write a new blog post about the letter writing campaign tomorrow if I'm not too busy. Kind of agree with this, I mean, every time they try to revive something, the new result is no where near as awesome as the classic, or they butcher the hell out of it. It isn't just HB they do it to, there is also the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....the new cartoon series they made on 4kids........let's just say I was in a rant when I found out they changed Leatherhead from a Louisiana hillbilly, to a scientist?? I love the originial Swat Kats, everything about it. keep things original i say

CrypticQuery
I hate to be a downer or something. But what are the chances that Swat Kats will be revived? I guess we'll find out once these letters go in; if enough interest is garnered and the original co-creator along with the studios find it may be in their interests, then we've got greatness on our hands. There's really no way to know this early IMO.
