StarFox Fan Movie - in progress

I can't believe people are still glancing at this, originally, most peeps thought it would be cool, you know, as a "wow dream project from fans to fans" but now it's more of a race to see who gets more attention, what a joke.

This thing is targeted as an internet project/video thingwise right?,so basically they can do whatever the hell they want (avoiding the copyrighted issues, of course), but like Dras said, they pretty much screwed everything up when it comes to staying loyal to whatever drop of decency is left in SF story after the N64/3DS game.

Making a movie, animated or whatever....It's just extremely time and resource consuming, and not everyone can do it. If it's not made by the fans, for the fans, then it really won't get anywhere, selfish reasons, like being an attention whore going "wooot I'm making a starfox movie with, you know, the great Fox McDonald and Falco Lamborghini, I'm cooool dude" will basically make you a laughing matter, which is happening already.

I basically treated this project the same way I treat other fan projects for any game. It looks cool, I'm glad the fans are willing to step up, but it probably won't happen because either the project falls apart, or Nintendo shuts em down.

I'm starting to believe in the former statement about this one.

Actually

He wants to make it. Like, theatrical-release, endorsed-by-Nintendo, The Star Fox Movie, "make it". He's sent it to Nintendo and apparently to actual production companies, according to what User said earlier.

Of course, everyone he's submitted to has proceeded to laugh their balls off then stamp him with a big, red, NO.

I'm kinda one of those guys that believe that videogames should stay videogames. We have had Mario real movies, street fighter, lara croft, etc, and only a "handful" (or none) of them have succeeded because of their setting (like RE, even though it's a whole different story). See, here's the thing with Nintendo games, you have a lot of random and silly things going on, like, you know, a fat plumber eating mushrooms who jumps and runs like a madman (and for those who remember the actual Mario movie, it had NOTHING to do with the game, because, you know, silly things), or in this case, a bunch of animals (anthropomorphic creatures, w/e) blasting stuff in space ships while doing barrel rolls. It really won't sell on the big serious screen, obviously, I have no.freaking.idea.why he thinks he's going to succeed.

See, I DO believe games could make awesome movies, I just believe that people like Rathore shouldn't be the ones making them. At the core of it, Star Fox is really just every space adventure we've ever seen, just with animals as pilots. Star Fox Assault was even structured like a film (strip away the thirty minutes of SHOOT DA HATCHERS and keep in mind the actual story points, and there you go).

What every game film up until now, including Rathore, has completely missed the intention of the series, instead opting to change everything about it either due to ignorance or a misguided attempt at wrangling demographics. By "intention" I don't necessarily mean "the deep and profound life-changing message", just...the original Star Fox (and 64) were fun, campy space adventures full of jokes and animal people and uncomplicated action.

The only game movie I think that's hit the "intention" was Prince of Persia. The film had its own failures, but at least it felt like Prince of Persia, and I belieeeve (?) it's the most successful game movie to date.

At least it was produced with the handful millions of dollars they needed to get it "right". For starfox to be "really" made, they (he) would need a lot of starwars-wise effects, last time I checked...those aren't cheap. But then again, he's going for an "animated" approach, for what I can see (correct me if I'm wrong)in his facebook, unless those are just concept art, aaand I'm not willing to listen to his 1 hour youtube video to find out.

He is going for animated, but the kind of animated movie that we'd want would still be a multimillion dollar endeavour and it'd probably do them good to put a huge chunk of change into marketing and merchandising it as well. Luckily, Star Fox is pretty marketable, ESPECIALLY with kids, though it hasn't been used to that extent (space ship toys, plush dolls, action figures, etc.). Not that Rathore would be able to do any of that anyway.

You know what, just for shitz and giggles, I TOO WILL MAKE A STAR FAWX MOVEH!!!...

Okay, you called my bluff; I ain't doin anything. Either way though, too many topic shifts have really moved for me to comment on right now, so I'll just say what I think.

*Yeah, Video Games just need good directing and all to be made good movies too.

*I am pretty sure he somewhat wanted to do it at the least I guess to make this movie; it wasn't just a thing he said to get a crowd or a rise. [i think]

*And people in 'Higher' power tend to shrug off others like that, sadly DZ, happens to like, everyone who tries making contact with some self thought big deal. Either that or they literally have too many people trying to make contact with them so they give up.

Protip for anyone else wanting to do a SF Movie: Use puppets, and you'll have Miyamoto's approval.

Miyamoto: I always loved English puppet drama, like the Thunderbirds.

Iwata: I loved that, too! (laughs)

Miyamoto: Back when we released it, I imagined Star Fox selling a lot and the company that produced Thunderbirds coming all the way from England for negotiations to adapt it into a puppet drama.

Iwata: Uh-huh. (laughs)

Miyamoto: And then I would say, "To be honest, I've always loved Thunderbirds." Licensing it out by saying so was a dream of mine. And that's all it ever was! (laughs)

OT, but for those of you who haven't ever seen the Thunderbirds, try to find a DVD or something. The show was epic in a very cheesy sort of way. It also felt kind of like Star Fox to me. Now I know why. lol

They used to air it on TechTV before Comcast bought them out and merged them with the abomination that is G4.

Is that why they used puppets for the Star Fox SNES cartridge and poster? Because let me just say when I first saw that as a kid, I thought "That would look pretty cool for a Star Fox movie."

I got to "Polanski" and burst out laughing.

Even though I wouldn't mind a Star Fox movie, and would actually be excited for one, I would not let this guy handle it. Give me something that's more canon and legit please. :/

If there was going to be a Star Fox movie using the puppets, I hope they don't make a full version of "The Fantastic Mr. Star Fox" I don't want Fox going all deep or anything.

That's kind of awesome

You heard it here, folks. Word of God says a goofy puppet drama would be a better fit for Star Fox than super srs grimdark-bonerfest

I think everybody wants a movie cuz they aren't getting enough games and they love the series so much they end up spending hours on projects that would never come through.

But Hey, "What ever floats your boat"...right ;)...........(can we not get a smiley with Wolf on it :( )

Wow,I saw this Facebook at first I thought it'd be cool but upon reading comments on his FB page it's mad me grow sour towards him.He can barely pronounce half the names on SF ,it already gets little popularity, exclude the memes and your left with nothing really DZ offers some info and turns it down,"give the fans my ass" that's not how you treat your fans! That's why I support Fredryk at least he knows about the series this Director guy claims he knows about the series he can't even pronounce Lylat right, that says something is wrong from the get go.:-x

Wasn't sure if anyone was aware of this. I glanced down the thread list and didn't see anyone mention a thread about a movie being made. So...

I say... we support this idea. I mean, if Nintendo ever sees a finished product, whether they wanna give this guy the license or not... it doesn't matter because they'll see there's still interest enough in the franchise to keep making games.

It's pretty obvious that Nintendo put out SF64 3dS because of the dwindling sales in the franchise... They wanna see if people still give a damn about StarFox (which is why everyone should try buying the new game, heh heh) enough to keep the franchise going.

StarFox 64 was a blockbuster. They need to know if the series is still as hot as Krystal Porn is on the internet. SO! I say we support this dude if he has the motivation to finish the project. Just my two cents.

Keep in mind, there's no right way of thinking about this. I actually like the way this guy changed Fox's legs. They're more... i'unno... I guess I think the style adds a little more "balls to the wall" appearance to Fox; makes him look a lil' more badass, y'know? So... this is the part where you "LIKE" the fanpage. For shizzle.

Wait, don't i know you from somewhere, i have definitely heard your name before.... Anyways, yeah good idea. Though your analogy is, odd.

I've spotted Kit on the KLA and around art sites. I get the same reaction when I see the name.

Ah no, that's now what i thought he was from, i identified he wrote some fanfics i've read.

Yeah, Kit wrote all of the excellent "Reflections" series which can be found knocking around most fanfiction sites. If anything would translate well to a movie it would be those stories, rather than this crap. I know Kit said initially that its good to suport Rathore as he's trying to do something with Starfox and it gets publicity for the series, but lets face it, no studio is going to take on what is essentially the pretentious equivalent of a fan project that has no official license and make it into a big blockbuster. At the same time Nintendo aren't going to turn around and say "YES! This is exactly the direction we want to take Star Fox, please make more movies and direct all subsequent games!"

If you want to be taken seriously as a Star Fox writer, at least understand the right tone of the series, what drives the characters, and most importantly, how to spell their F***ing names! At least Fred, R3d Five and (as far as fanfic goes) Kit all know what decent writing is!
