+ Awesome soundtrack

+ Good graphics

+ Intriguing story

+ Decent voice acting

+ Star Wolf's back!

- God awful audio quality (The music was fine, but the dialogue was just loud and sounded like it hadn't been cleaned up.)

- Slippery controls, especially with regards to the Landmaster.

- Camera wasn't the best

- Cheesy dialogue (Sounded like it was from a direct translation as opposed to a more properly written one.)

- Trying to save Krystal in Corneria was an absolute nightmare due to level design

You're right about the audio idd, something you would here a generation back.

I alwasy play with the Dual controlls, works much better than the regular for me. Might help you with the camera and Landmaster issue ;)

Also very strong multiplayer. idd Can't top that eh, CoD? ;P

Considering CoD online has a significantly more advanced array of weapons, perks, classes, game modes, yes. I think it can. The mere fact that CoD games multiplayer carries onto the internet alone puts it a notch or two about Assault.

When playing SFAs with friends, i personally like that way better than CoD, but thats a matter of taste ofcourse.

The levels are great and memorable. Especially Zoness always had some exciting battles. Also the use of Landmaster, Arwing and Wolfen was a-mazing. I think one of the best multiplayers I've ever seen in a video game!

Multiplayer starfox...... Command was multiplayer but that wasn't really fun. I think in order for star fox to fun in multiplayer you need some good, innovative game mods and large dog fights.

Pros:

+Nice story to change things up a bit, even IF it's a bit of a ripoff from Startrek.

+Good voice acting, especially for Slippy. I personally think that his voice acting was done best in Assault.

Cons:

-The idea of having missions on foot was good, but I do not think it was captured properly, what with terrible controls and such.

-The fact that whenever the Arwing ran into something, and it wouldn't crash, it would just "bump," into it, was stupid.  It not only looked, but also felt totally ridiculous.

-The sound effects were completely unsatisfying and didn't give the proper feedback.

-Many lines were cheesy.

-Music was alright, but it got extremely repetitive if you listened to it long enough.

-The Landmaster was slow and clunky.

-There was a wide variety of guns in the game, but only half of them were used, while the rest were mostly pointless.

-VS mode was stupid because of the following:

Wolf was cheap. Anyone who played as him had a major advantage against all others because he had a rocket up his butt, (zooming all over the place with uncanny speed,) and an enormous health bar, which allowed him to survive not one, but two sniper rifle shots, while any other character would've dropped dead by just one shot.

If someone got into an aircraft and you were on foot, you were at a huge disadvantage, even if you had a tank. The aircraft could just fly circles around you. Plus, if you achieved the feat of shooting them down, the player didn't die--his aircraft just crashed. In addition, another aircraft would instantly respond.

Golden medicates weren't fair. You could have someone on the brink of death, and if they found one of those shiny health rejuvenates, they would be back in the game with almost, (if at all, if memory serves correctly,) a scratch. I haven't got a problem with medicates in general, but something like that is just absurd.

Overall, the game was quite clunky. It could've been better, but Namco, unfortunately, was all, "Heh, no can do! :-)"

Maybe it wasn't complete shit, but it certainly was a disappointment of a Star Fox game.

I really like the way StarFox went over the years and think it would be a waste to keep Fox in his Arwing forever again. But if the games are gonna look like the flying stages from Ratchet & Clank Future, I not gonna mind it that much :)

I suppose I should give my two cents...

Positives :

- Very well designed first level (now if only all the levels were set up in a similar fashion)

- Difficult final boss (Because lets face it, Andross was getting repetitive [Oh wait, first level boss....] WHY U NO GO AWAY?)

- Star Wolf steals the show for the most part by saving the voice acting...somewhat (And please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks they had more personality than Star Fox)

- Even though each level was essentially the same mission, the layout of the maps made them feel distinct.

- Peppy (Need I say more?)

- A few memorable cutscenes.

- Multiplayer was unbelievable. It was basically Nintendo's version of Halo multiplayer. Not to mention the extra maps that werent in Single player that were available for Multiplayer.

Negatives:

- Game should have been 3-5 levels longer. (The story felt kind of rushed after Fichina to be honest)

- Leon's voice.....why, just why?

- They basically looked for a quick and cheap way to take out Andrew. (He's Andross's nephew for crying out loud, you gotta build up to him becoming a powerful ruler or something, not...oh forget it...)

- The Great Fox....(do I need a spoiler tag?)

- Why were we forced to go back to Dinosaur Planet? (I'm not calling it Sauria) Corneria was being attacked or at the very least threatened, yeah, let's go out of our way to save one planet. At that point, we should have gone everywhere in Lylat to save each individual planet.

^^^I know some of those were just plot points but....

- The arwing felt slow and I thought it was hard to shoot at targets below you.

- About half of the weapons were difficult to use, as they relied almost entirely on the ignorance of the enemy AI or your opponent in multiplayer.

- There should have been other types of missions other than destroy the targets. How about an escort mission?

- They ripped off Transformers to create a boss battle lol

- If I recall, when the game was officially announced, they had planned to include Co-op in the regular story mode (and maybe they wanted to create co-op specific missions too, who knows?). Why was that not included in the final product?

- (Nobody mentioned this yet in this thread) Lack of Bill Grey and Katt Monroe. It was an *trollface* move on Namco's part to take us to Katina, while at the same time mentioning that Cornerian forces were located there, and then give us an empty map completely unlike SF64 Katina where you had both enemy and ally forces all at once. Oh, and since Star Wolf was back in the picture, you would think that the other two characters (Bill and Katt) that didn't appear in Adventures would make returns as well.

Likes:

-The tone of the game. I like how much more serious everything was in Assault.

-The music. Seriously. The soundtrack was amazing. Space Battleground and Star Wolf Theme especially.

-Switching between landmaster, on foot, and Arwing mid battle.

-The storyline. I like how it felt like a cheesy scifi movie.

Dislikes:

-The controls could use a little work (though I don't think they are nearly as bad as most people think)

-The graphics were a dissapointment after playing Adventures

-Teammates were near useless. Especially Slippy.

-

The fact that Str Wolf actually helped you in battle

-Length. THE GAME WAS WAY TOO SHORT

The shortness is what bothers me the most.

Other than bad A.I. and some horribly annoying voice acting (looking at you, Andrew), I really didn't have much issue with Assault. I liked the more mature turn the story took. I hope they continue to go in that direction has the original Star Fox community gets older. Not saying they should take a Conker turn and go M rated,  but they should continue to let the story develop into a mature plot. Arwing missions were great as usual. The ground fighting needed some work, but it didn't ruin the game. Krystal was in it and had an English accent. That's enough for me.

Returning to multi-planet format

Star Wolf returning

Landmaster returning

Arwing was fun and animated well

Some of the cutscenes were gorgeous

Peppy's sacrifice scene unf

Voice acting

Multiplayer was fun, if a little screwball at times

Soundtrack

Dislikes:

Dat AI

Fox and Krystal's VA's

Krystal was entirely useless

Plot recycled from every stock sci-fi ever

Really glaring nonsensical plotholes

Fox's terrible characterization

Ground levels were insanely repetative and often bland

Physics pretty much nonexistent

Aparoids had a really unimaginative design

Way too damn short

Nixing the facial expressions in the English dub

Lack of character development, general bad dialogue

"Krystal was entirely useless" no more like slippy

I don't have to admit that because I am not an angry fool who resorts to violence whenever something doesn't go my way. Hopefully I'm not the only one.

Please tell me more about how the character responsible for boss health gauges in the gameplay, figuring out (with his dad) how to kill the Aparoid Queen in the story, and developing the team's entire array of vehicles and weaponry in the lore is "useless".

And that ^^^ is the reason why people should be as specific as possible at all times. The phrase should have read, "Slippy being useless AS A PILOT"

....excuse me? Wa...what?

This post doesn't even make any logical sense. Plus not only that but as Shaper stated, it goes to show that you are an butthurt fool who resorts to violence when things don't go your way. :/
