R.I.P Steve Jobs (1955-2011)

Steve Jobs the marketeer was an excellent pioneer in his field. His contributions to marketing are not going to be forgotten.

Steve Jobs the man, however, was a douchebag, an asshole, a control-freak, and somewhat of a hypocrite. That does NOT deserve recognition.

Thank Steven because if weren't for you, then we would still have to use a desktop computer for listen to music.

I don't know about you, but I was transferring music to my MP3 players long before the iPod.

Also, people giving credit to Apple for inventing the first of these things are wrong.

First non-kit Personal Computer: 9800 Series (1971, HP) (Apple 1 - 1976) (Sorry, Woz. Still a fan, though ;) ) *The HP 9810A is arguably a personal computer, though it was marketed as an advanced programmable calculator. It came out in 1971, and could do a lot more than the Micral N, which is the first PC marketed as a PC in 1972. Even IBM beat apple with the 5100, though it was not marketed as a PC. The 5100 is what is known in tech circles as a "Luggable Computer." That means it was marketed as being "portable," but it only meant that it was designed so it could be moved. It was heavy as fuck, though. 50lbs.

First GUI computer: Xerox Star 8010 (1981, Xerox) (Apple Lisa - 1983, GUI based on Xerox Star design)

First mass-produced MP3 Player: MPMan (1998, SaeHan) (iPod - 2001)

First online music store: Ritmoteca (1998, Ritmoteca) (iTunes - 2003)

First smartphone: Simon (1992, IBM) (iPhone - 2007) Did you know that Android also came out in 2007?

First tablet computer: While people had the idea back in the 1950s, it is unclear who was first, but there were several out there before Apple's Newton hit the shelves in 1993, only to flop. The iPad succeeded where the Newton failed in 2010.
