Asper Sarnoff
Style: Forum. Theme: Post-apocalyptic RP. Setting: Titania, roughly 1000 years before the Lylat wars. Several bloody civil wars have scoured the planet in the last centuries. The last of which ended in a nuclear winter. The initial attacks killed countless millions, the radiation many, many more. Even now, over 100 years later, the planet is a dying wasteland, and many areas are still contaminated with heavy radioactivety. Much of the wildlife have become hideously mutated, and bloodthirsty anarchist gangs roam the plains. As a result, areas outside civilisation are extremely dangerous. You're a road warrior. One of the few people fortunate enough to have a working vehicle in which to cross the vast distances between the small specs of civilization, and selling your services as a mercenary to the highest bidder. Despite being relatively inexperienced and new in the game, you've managed to cling on so far. And when the rumors start spreading of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a high-pay escort job, you're being drawn to Titan, the former capital of the planet, like moth to a flame. This is a roleplay for you if: You're a fan of Fallout, Mad Max, and other tales of survivors carving a life out for themself in the remains of a broken and dying world. You fancy yourself capable of being one of forementioned survivors. You like your roleplays dark, grim and realistic(as realistic as can be within this setting that is). Prefer to roleplay where a game master sets up some boundaries and lay out the broad strokes of the story for you. You are dedicated to the RP itself, as well as your fellow players. This is NOT a roleplay for you if: You're looking for a quick fix to your roleplaying thirst while waiting for a reply in another one. You haven't seen any movie, played any game, or read any book set in a post-apocapytic setting, and don't really know what the word means. Loose interest quickly. This probably won't be a fast-mover, but any RP require that the players help pull the load. Prologue: You stare out at the grim wasteland before you. Distant clouds of desert dust streak across the giant dustbowl, towards the ruins of what used to be Titanias capital. Seems like you're not the only one feeling the pull after the rumors of a high-pay job emerged, like rings in water from its source. An escort job. Should be simple enough, even though you'll be escorting a cargo of the most valuable resource on the planet, fuel, and that everyone you'll meet would be willing to kill to get their hands on it. Your toungue feels swollen and dry in the desert heat. The last drops of hot water you drank up hours ago. No matter if you're going to get the job or not, you need to go down and restack your supplies. You turn around and head for your car. It's seen better days, covered in dust, grime and dirt, and barely running, but it's what separates you from the mayority of survivors, crawling in the dirt and stealing from each other to survive. Coming to life with a loud cough, the engine settles into its lumpy idle. Noticing the main fuel tank is nearly empty, you switch over to the auxilary tank. If you don't get this job, and the pay and fuel that goes with it, you're in deep trouble. You throw one last look trough the grimy windscreen at the red sun setting behind the broken and ragged skyline of the city ahead of you. Time to get moving. You don't want to be alone on the road when the larger mutated creatures come out at night to hunt. Goal: There's a definite goal to this RP which I hope we can reach, but it won't be revealed till we get a bit into the RP itself. Player count: I'm thinking around 5 in total. Two spots allready filled, so I hope for 3 more. I understand if most people would not want to be the one guy driving the valuable cargo, but this will only be temporary in any case. Escort driver #1: Fenris "The Dragon" Douglas. (Asper Sarnoff) Escort driver #2: ??? (Fira Astrali) Escort driver #3: Open Escort driver #4: Open The trucker: Open Rules for this particular roleplay: Players will not be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis. They will be chosen among the applicants by me based on how well a job I think they'll do. The reason for this being that most RP's here never get past more than a couple pages before they start slowing down and ultimately dying. With a team of dedicated and strong roleplayers, I hope to combat this trend. So don't take it personal if you don't get chosen. There'll always be other roleplays. In this roleplay, you'll HAVE to play as your fursona. No, not the 7-foot tall ex-military mercenary that eats lightning and crap thunder. This is YOU. Your character will have your build, abilities and skills. Know how pick a lock in real life? Good, your character can too. Your character able to fly a fighter? Not unless you happen to be a fighter pilot in real life. There are TWO(2) exceptions to this rule however. Even if you've never used a gun or driven a car in real life, your character will know the bare basics of those two abilities. The trucker will also know how to drive a big 18-wheeler, which believe me, is a lot harder than driving a normal car. Use this sheet for your application. Name: The name of your character, as well as a nick-name. Role: Escort driver or the trucker. Age: Same as yourself. Race: Pick whatever race you know exists in the SF-universe. Sex: Male/female Height: Close to your real life height. This is excluding any tall ears, furt thufts and the like. Weight: Close to your real life weight. Add some pounds for a tail if you have one. Build(optional): If you're not too proud of your BMI, you can fill in this instead. Eyes: Color. Hair/fur: Color and style. Attire: What clothing does your character wear. Preferably something that fits in with the theme. Leather, duster trenchcoats, hockey masks, stuff you wouldn't normally wear, but can after the apocalypse because nobody cares. Look up Mad Max or Fallout for inspiration. Weapons: A firearm and a meele weapon. Only projectile weapons, no lasers/blasters. Pick something which excists in the real world, and which you think it'd be reasonably easy to find ammo for and maintain by yourself. Vehicle: Pick a real-life wheeled vehicle that you think would be reasonably easy to drive and maintain in a post-apocalyptic world. Roads are scarce, but you'll need something quite fast. No military or custom-made vehicles (buggies etc.). All vehicles are outfitted with an auxilary fuel tank, a spare tire, a tool box, and can also have other modifications you confidently know (be honest with yourself) that you'd be able to make/install yourself. We don't need any description of background, personality abilities and the like. In the same way you don't blurt out your whole life-history as soon as you meet someone, don't do it here either. As our characters gradually get to know and trust(trust is hard-bought in this RP) each other, you can start digging out each others stories. Here's an example, the character I'll be using. Name: Fenris "The Dragon" Douglas. Role: Escort driver. Age: 20 Race: Gray wolf. Canis Lupus Lupus. Sex: Male. Height: 6'2" Weight: 220 pounds. Eyes: Grayish blue eyes. Hair/fur: Rough, mostly light gray with some light brown and white. Attire: Black leather jacket, offset zipper and reinforced shoulders. White and grimy tank top. Black leather pants with numerous patches. Black harness boots. Fingerless leather gloves with spiked knuckles. Weapons: 0.44 Colt Anaconda. Blued combat knife. Vehicle: Matte black 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440. Rollcage and supportive bracers welded in for strenght, apart from that and the extra fuel tank, it's stock. Star_Dragon
It's been too long since I RP'ed with you, Asper. Count me in. Just give me a sec... Name: Jason "Marauder" Anderson Role: Escort driver Age: 20 (going on 21) Race: Cornerian Fox Sex: Male Height: 6' 0" Weight: (I'm not exactly sure what my weight is, and I don't have a scale, so I'll take a rough guess) 145lbs Build(optional): Muscular Eyes: Brown Hair/fur: Brown Attire: Military Camo pants, shirt, and jacket with "Marauder" stitched onto the back, black gloves, black military surplus boots. Weapons: (Choices, choices...) Steyr Aug A3, Katana Vehicle: (I'm not too car-savvy, nor can I modify one. Any suggestions to a good off-road vehicle that I can add some armor and bullet-resistant glass to?)
chaos_Leader
I do not have a dedicated "fursona". All of the characters I have are attached to some other story and are in no way attached to my identity. That said, I can create an identity to use here Name: Terry "Tweak" Malloy. Role: Escort driver, scavenger, fixer of broken/malfunctioning things, and general handyman. (possibly Trucker, see vehicle entry below) Age: 21 Race: Bighorn ram. (justification: my Greek Zodiac is Aries, the ram) Sex: Male Height: 5' 10'' Weight: ~180-200 lbs Build: Powerful Eyes: gray hazel Hair/fur: Brownish mostly. Attire: flame pattern bandana over his head and horns. Dickies carpenter pants (most indestructible piece of clothing I've ever owned). Steel-toed workboots. Cargo vest with many pockets over ordinary T-shirt, often filled to bursting with little mechanical odds and ends. Often seen carrying a tool kit with him. Has heavier-duty protective clothing stored in his vehicle id need-be. Archetypical post-apocalyptic scavenger type. Weapons: Ranged: Remington model 870 pump-action shotgun: (has wide variety of shells, sometimes packs his own specialty shells) (+ maybe?) M1903 Springfield bolt-action rifle (with scope). Melee: Iron-hard fists, which I actually do kind-of have in RL. Also, I carry a Leatherman Multitool at all times (Wave model if we want to get persnickety), which has an awfully good knife on it. Vehicle: Mercedes Unimog: Mostly as pictured, but with more random tinkery, scavenger swag dangling off at all sorts of places, and curled ram's horns painted onto the cab/hood, of course. It's a proven endurance vehicle, which has beaten the competition in long-distance desert rally races, sometimes by accident. A great vehicle for the post-apocalyptic desert setting. I keep it equipped for long excursions into harsh untamed territory for deep-wild scavenging trips, including a vast assortment of tools and equipment, plus a limited range radio transceiver (say, CB radio capacity). The tradeoff though is that the Unimog guzzles diesel fuel like nobody's business. I have to make that much more profit in order to support the voracious fuel needs of this beast, and that's not even counting if I have to turn on a fuel consuming generator to get some extra electricity. Your character will have your build, abilities and skills. Know how pick a lock in real life? Good, your character can too. I do know how to pick a standard pin-tumbler lock. I'm not all that great at it, and if it's a fancier, pick-resistant lock, I'm screwed, but I can do it! I work with a wide variety of equipment in my RL job in technical theater, including all sorts of mechanical do-jobs, a wide array of carpentry, welding/soldering, electrical, and even wireless transmitter/receiver modules for the audio setups. I know I seem kind-of OP in this post, but It's definitely more of a "jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none" situation. Heck, I'm even learning how to sew, wielding the needle-and-thread . . . I guess I can put that down too.

Harlow
Right now, neither of my characters on my RP thread seem suitable, and my exp. on RP's is limited, but I'll post a bio of my sona just in case. Name: Steele Fusari (foo-SAH-ree) (Willing to be refered by his last name as a nickname and to evade confusion with Katniss) Role: Escort driver Age: I'd say 20, but judging by the rules, I'll have to say 18 Race: Siberian Tiger Sex: Male Height: 5' 7" Weight: 175 Build: Fairly fit. Quite muscular. Eyes: Light blue Fur: White/midnight stripes and shoulder length hair Attire: V-neck black t-shirt, straight black jeans. Lightweight kevlar vest, elbow and shin guards. Burgundy, thick hunting sweater with hood. Half-face respirator. Leather gloves. Shin-height black military boots. "Just in case" Rubber band on the wrist. Weapons: AK-107, 15" combat knife. Focusing on strength and capability of resisting extreme climate without forgetting to keep a decent speed) (Note: I actually have and drove one of these and it's a pretty exact description of it IRL) I'll try to get a picture of the real truck, but the style's basically http://deco-00.slide.com/r/1/89/dl/z0D0UcqvDu9wBvUY8CINvKhJ3S_bm0VF/watermark

Asper Sarnoff
Sorry Zack, no humans allowed. We don't take lightly to that kind of people around here... That shouldn't be a problem to change however. Vehicle: (I'm not too car-savvy, nor can I modify one. Any suggestions to a good off-road vehicle that I can add some armor and bullet-resistant glass to?) You're not going to need a serious off-roader. We'll be escorting a big tanker, and no matter what you drive, that will be the limiting factor to where we end up going. In general, older cars are simpler, and thus more likely to be keept going, so I'll post a couple pics, and see what strikes your fancy. http://static.pagenstecher.de/uploads/6/6e/6e6/6e6e/DeathRace_Sondermotiv07_Buick_Riviera.jpg http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww91/barryharker/67%20Ford%20Mustang/roughdesign-2.jpg http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww91/barryharker/49%20LEAD%20SLED/LIGHT-UP-MERC.jpg http://www.rearviewed.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/death-race-911.jpg http://www.wordsaboutthings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/burning-man-art-car.jpg And if you fancy being the tanker driver. http://www.hemmy.net/images/automobiles/wolftruck01.jpg http://www.bradsclassictrucks.com/duel3.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z5EGRgoJ3N4/Te_GqcqnhQI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/sg7MfFa4Ac4/s1600/MadMaxTruck.jpg Oh, and while the vehicle mounted guns are cool, that's a no-go in this roleplay. When ammo is extremely scarce, one have to make everything count, and one does that best with a single hand-held weapon.

We'll be escorting a big tanker, and no matter what you drive, that will be the limiting factor to where we end up going. So, Unimog is a "probably not" situation? I really like the vehicle, it completely fits the character I'm putting together, and I can think of a few situations that might come up where a post-apocalyptic scavenger's Unimog would come in handy. Asper Sarnoff
I voulenteered to drive the big rig, but i wasnt sure if my personal vehicle should be the big rig. should i change it? Nah, keep the personal vehicle. If you end up as the tanker driver, you can always store it somewhere to pick up again. So, Unimog is a "probably not" situation? I really like the vehicle, it completely fits the character I'm putting together, and I can think of a few situations that might come up where a post-apocalyptic scavenger's Unimog would come in handy. Of course you can have your 'Mog! We'd probably need a larger vehicle of some kind to carry the supplies too.
chaos_Leader
Of course you can have your 'Mog! We'd probably need a larger vehicle of some kind to carry the supplies too. You mean something like this?: But in all seriousness, things like water are going to be pretty essential for a long-haul. Food doesn't necessarily take up a whole lot of space or weight; but water is heavy, can't be compressed, and is absolutely essential to survive. I'll probably explain it further in the actual RP in-character or something.

Yep, between drinking, cooking, hygiene and cooling for the vehicles, we'll probably need the capacity to carry roughly 1000 litres of water. Which makes out to exactly 1 tonne. We'll need a truck for that.

Asper Sarnoff
I know this is kinda of a dumb question, but I guess that each background and personality one chooses to create will be revealed as the story goes, right? Correct. This'll hopefully add another dimension to the RP, as we'll be somewhat curious to get to know about the other guys we're travelling with. Another inquiery. Are we all unrelated people? Or have we been convoying for aslong as anyof us can remember? The introductionary post I'll make when the RP starts will be the first time any of our characters meet. Before that, we've all had small courrier missions and the like. Not enough to call ourself veterans, but enough that we're not total newbies to the game. The following applicants are hereby invited to take part: Fira-Astrali Star_Dragon Chaos_Leader Harlow I'll create the RP topic itself in the next couple days, along with a discussion topic. I'd also like to hear if anyone of you'd be interested in being the tanker driver. It's only a temporary position, a 3-4 in-RP days at most. And sorry waffles, Zack and Kage.
