Read and discuss plox.

It's an interesting article, and considering the fanbase here is really into Nintendo I figured y'all would be intereseted in this.

Sounds kinda bad for El Nintendo.

Meh, I'm having trouble of thinking what more they could add to that console before release. And it they don't release anything at all, they'de be even more screwed.

The guys pointing the right things out though. What I found lacking with the Wii was the amount of high-quality games for it.

No, not really. Nintendo needs to build this baby with enough hardware to resist the 6 year cycle. Right now, 360/PS3 games are pushing the hardware enough to merit new consoles. The wiiu won't be 5 times more powerful than those 2 (at least this early build kit nintendo has thrown to developers, and as we know, the hardware specs are not definitive) , so yeah, there must be a reasonable gap on hardware this time. The wii got a great start, but the sales went down because the console wasn't future proof.

Remember the ps2? it was the least powerful from that generation, and it still managed to pull amazing stuns. That's what I'm talking about, don't be the supermorehaxramcpugfx guy, be the smart guy. Good hardware + good software + good innovation = win.

Let's not forget that even if great companies are going to be teaming up with nintendo, the market share is still dominated by the competition. Not to say, so far, nintendo is offering the big bang titles, such as BF3 and new Batman, one year later of their release, that's not going to make a huge difference. For example, even if the Wii U manages to play BF3 all the way to the max and 64 players, it's going to be too late to pull those BF fans into the console, no reason to buy it on the Wii U if it's a year old port that they probably already bought.

I personally don't care, I'm all into Zeldas/Metroids/etc. So even if the Wiiu ends up being more talk than show, I will end up getting it.

Here's hoping Nintendo finds a way for this console to sell, but with the Wii moniker still around I doubt that most gamers will give it a look. The casual crowd won't care either; if they have a Wii already then why buy a Wii-U?

Nintendo and Sega are seeming to have more in common O_o.

Thats what it's starting to sound like on my end. (Unless you're talking about those yearly Mario & Sonic Olympic games...which I'm sure you're not)

It seems to me Nintendo's getting ready to fall behind their technology once M$ and Sonnie release their next console to take over the new generation. I liked the Wii when it was out back in 06...now I find it outdated and it seems Nintendo isn't even putting their rear in gear with the Wii-U since...it almost looks like the 3DS' graphics were improved...just maybe about 1.5 times and minus the 3D function.

Gaben, plz don't release Episode 3 on the Wii-U. I know you're intrigued by the handheld but plz...don't have any plans for it.

I hope the Wii U ends up being successful, sure it might end up being underpowered by the time the next Xbox and Playstation are released, but like Steve said and I've actually said as well, the PS2 had the least amount of hardware power of it's generation but it lasted the longest thanks to its number of good titles.

As long as developers make good games for the Wii U, it should garner enough appeal to bring in customers. But I'm getting it no matter what, love the Nintendo classics.

In my own speculation on the Wii U future, I think they are going to catch up with more first person shooter games with Xbox360 and PS3. The Wii was focused more on player movement interactive games like Wii Sports, Wii golf, and Wii Resort. Their latest one I saw on TV was Wii Go Vacation. So once again the Wii U is going to shift attention to more shooting games to catch up the other competitors.

I was hoping for something other then a handheld console this time,I don't know if this will be enough to make a difference at the moment but seeing as I can't see what it games are going to be, what competition it will face, and seeing as I'm more of a PC gamer now I can't make an accurate assumption.

The WiiU is actually a home console. The picture in the article is the controller.

I do have to agree with most of you on here, that the WiiU probably won't be able to stand up to the next Xbox/Playstation. Nintendo has been going downhill the past few years, and has actually lost a lot of its supporters. I know a lot of people that used to own all Nintendo consoles until the Wii came out. They passed and went right to either Playstation of Xbox. The fact that Nintendo is now known to produce home systems with inferior graphics and lack variation in game libraries is going to cause the WiiU to sell less than the Nintendo Wii did. At least at first.
