Because your Lord and General cares about you, and makes sure that even while you guys still play with dirt for entertainment, you remain on top of things. I have a double whammy for you guys of Metroid goodness, which everyone cool agrees is the greatest series of all time.

Behold. The greatest fangame ever to the greatest series ever now has a demo to mark its entry into the final stages of development, as revealed at this year's Nintendo Community Fangame Convention, where it will be at the very least second place best of show.

But don't take my word for it; download it and try it yourself. This is the closest we'll have to a proper Nintendo produced 2D Metroid game in a long time to come.

But there's more. Celebrating the series' 25th anniversary is Harmony of a Hunter. What is Harmony of a Hunter? Basically, it's where like 12 dudes came together and asked one another "How do we make the most badass set of Metroid arrangements ever known to man?" and practiced wizardry to produce 2 full CDs of music, completely free of charge for download.

You babies have no reason to take your first steps toward manhood by checking out these two absolutely incredible tributes to a series I'm sure stomps the ever living hell out of whatever you once believed to be superior in the past, and hey, if you're still stubbornly attached to your crib, check it out anyway, Harmony of a Hunter at least has several tracks to serve as a lullaby next time you're put to bed.

I've played Metroid: Zero Mission for GB advanced, but sold it to a Father so his child could have the gameboy experience and be happy, so I felt fuzzy inside for making another child happy ^^

I never beat it, but it was pretty fun when I had played it. I also watched friend from a long time ago play....Metroid 2 I think? It looked cool. You were in a space station or something?

All in all, Metroid was pretty cool for its time

When my laptop stops threatening to die, I will be playing these. Thank you General, you are too kind to us. We're unworthy.

Are you having the same problems as I am?

My God, this game looks amazing. Definitely trying the demo.

I don't keep up with Metroid fan games because most of them are pretty bad or very… unfinished, but I've heard about this one. Never watched any trailers or anything, though.

Thanks, Milky. I'm a huge Metroid fan. :D

This looks amazing! I'm personally a pretty big Metroid fan myself. Anybody find any sequence breaks yet?

The demo is not long enough for real sequence breaks, but I have found 3 hidden shortcuts, and I am 100% sure you can skip spiderball.

WANT MOAR METROID.

I will be looking at Symphony Harmony of a Hunter tomorrow, but I'm definitely making Steve get the full fangame when it comes out. I love Metroid.

Like. LOVE. Metroid.

EDIT: Heeey, Milkshake, I was going off what you said in your last post to make up mine! Psh.

See guys, Sarita here is a good example of how NOT to be a baby.

But you are in luck, no guarantees, but the full game is right around the corner. I've yet to actually do maths, but assuming the development has been pacing reasonably well, all that is left is polishing, tweaks, balancing, and any last minute ideas to implement like the logbook system.

I own every Metroid game, (except Metroid Prime Pinball, though I DID own it at one point). I absolutely LOVE Metroid.

I remember hearing about this a few years ago, amazed that it actually got this far, so if it works on Mac, I WILL be playing it.
