Furries

Is anyone here a Furry? I also wonder what that entails, besides dressing up as a cartoon animal. Is it a sexual fetish? A lifestyle? Both?

If someone could enlighten me that would be great

Has this been discussed? If it is a fetish, it seems about the wierdest I have encountered. Even wierder than the Leather crowd.

The weirdest fetish you could think up was leather? Oh boy, internet virgin ahoy.

Furry is only a fetish for some people, others just like pretending they're an animal online and getting involved in the community of those who do the same.

Ohh so its like pretend dress up? Kind of what I did as a kid except for adults.... Any benefits of being part of it? I have seen some questionable furry pics online, but I also have seen pretty tame ones. I am not an internet virgin! I just believe that the leather " master and slave" community is very strange indeed. What is stranger?

@Gene Arari. I am sorry but I am new to this forum

Furries, like anything in the history of ever, have a fetish attached to them. The difference between the furry fetish and basically any other fetish in its vein (having a community built around non-sexual aspects as well as sexual) is that the sexual parts far outweigh the "normal" bits of the fandom.

Some furries just really like anthropomorphic animals, and enjoy them more than human characters. Some look at anthros and go "I'd hit it." That's basically the most straightforward definition of a furry I can think of. Some people do like to dress up, but some just appreciate the art or what have you. As for benefits for being a part of it, it's a community with a bad rep overall but some good people in it. That's all up for you to decide.

Bestiality, otherkin, loli...

If I'm not allowed to mention these, I understand any Moderator edits that get made.

Not all furries wear fursuits.

And most of the internet is stranger, but I can't specificy or direct you to any proof because that is prooobably not within the TOS here.

Wikipedia has always given a pretty accurate definition on the furry subculture IMO. I usually link people there if I get questions on furries in general.

Being a furry means different things to different people and if you ask someone what makes someone a furry you'll likely get a a bunch of different answers. Some furries might just find anthro babes sexually attractive and don't have much else to do with the fandom (like myself), while others make the fandom a part of their lifestyle and some even take it spiritually. An interest in anthropomorphic animals and artwork is pretty much a prerequisite though. A lot of furries are artists, RPer's, and many have their own "fursona" (like a persona but of an anthropomorphic creature instead.) The vast majority of furries have at least some sexual interest in the fandom and despite what other people might try and tell you the fandom is almost entirely sex based to various degrees. Downplaying the sexuality is just silly and deceiving IMO and is done by furries who are too insecure to tell the truth about how the fandom really is.

Fursuiters are a small minority in the fandom due to the fact that fursuits are expensive to buy and/or make, although if all furries had money to afford one you would definitely see more of them around.

The furry fandom is mainly based on the Internet, even though there are furry conventions that happen year round. It's like an escapism as a result. I've met quite a few furries in the past few years IRL on my travels and what not and almost all of them were open and pretty "normal" individuals, even though there are many of them who are socially inept.

A good % of members on SF-O are furries, almost a majority even according to polls I've taken in the past on the matter.

Hopefully I've helped with your question. If you have anything further specific don't hesitate to ask. :-)

Furries are weirdos who congregate around water dispensers in offices and who take time laboriously inspecting the fuzzy, moldy deposits behind the water tanks. Hardcore furries (known as fursuiters) will scrape off the moldy deposits and collect them in small tubs known as 'furry conventions' which they then throw at passing cars outside the office buildings they work at.

All furries are accountants.

All furries are insane.

Some furries to me can be very obnoxious and get so touchy whenever it comes to some things like the subject of furries in general.

(I went to a furry TF2 server once to see what it was like...nothing but yiff everywhere and also kicks are granted just for saying anything that furries consider 'hatred towards the fandom')

The Furry Pound #4, #5, or #6? Most of them aren't that great at TF2 either.

At least this is in the Rec Room. So long as we can keep it toned down, this is fine.

Just no causing drama [Which is sometimes impossible to avoid with these sorta topicsxD] and we are all set.

ya see i am a furry and have relativity no attraction to anthros, i am only in the fandom because i think half animal half creatures are a neat concept. i remember watching tv show with such creatures thinking how cool it'd be to be one. but this ^ i have no interest in the fandom. i don't draw, i don't really role play, i don't write fan fics and so on

Uhh . . . how many of these "furry" topics have we had already?

I guess it's just a recurring issue with this site. But don't we have a poll for this already? Not saying "furry topics are bad." I just think the topics that basically just say "Are you a furry?" are getting really repetitive.
